I can't believe I've been living in the Hudson Valley for so long and didn't know about this place! Had a lovely evening listening to fabulous music and eating with friends. The menu is a bit limited, but what we had was good -- sort of shared antipasto as opposed to having a big meal. We remain big fans of Jazz Forum in Tarrytown as they continue to have impressive talent throughout the years we have attended their many performances. Friday and Saturday evenings tickets range $25 (students) to $35 (adults). Sets are basically at 7pm and 9pm. On Sundays they feature smooth Brazilian Jazz and/or Samba sets at 4pm or 6pm, tickets range $15 (students) to $20 (adults). We have had the pleasure to see performances by Ravi Coltrane and his quartet, Renee Rosnes quartet, Bill Charlap, Joey Francesco, Joe Farnsworth, Eric Alexander, and a few others. A small menu consists of: cocktails, wines and beer, plus various appetizers, a few entrees at an added cost. The room has many small tables, and a few high tops for seating. Owners, Ellen and Mark have put their hearts into the venue through the years. They are often present, with a very friendly and welcoming staff. The music was great, but the service was awful! For example, after we had already had bad service for our drinks and main dishes, the waitress offered us dessert menus. When she returned to take our dessert orders, the first two things my cousin asked for were "all out". Maybe she should have informed us when she gave us the dessert menus that some items were no longer available. read more

Was in Tarrytown for 2 nights for a wedding and found Jazz Forum here on Yelp. We both like Jazz so figured it would be a great date night activity. SO GLAD I did my recon because this place is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! Such an absolutely cool vibe when you walk in... artwork of Jazz musicians adorn the walls (and is for sale as well), perfect amount of seating without feeling overcrowded. A mix of high top tables as well as regular. The performers are in the corner and can be seen easily from any seat you are in. Cocktails are very unique and delicious, we had a cheese plate that was the perfect amount for two people and my wife had a beet salad she loved. We saw the David Allen Quartet and they put on an amazing show. Wished we lived closer because we would be here regularly!!!!!!! If we are ever up this way again we certainly will be back! read more

Had an amazing time watching the Tadataka Unno Septet. Loved how you can order dinner, light fare and drinks before and during the show. I think they need more servers during prime time but they were all very nice. They also feature art on their walls from local artists. We'll definitely be back to continue to support this venue and wish we had more local jazz forums to engage people of all ages in the wonderful world of jazz! read more

This place is pretty special; there are not many jazz clubs around anymore, and you couldn't ask for more gracious hosts than husband and wife team Mark and Ellen who are the owners. The ambiance is nice and the musicians are always top-notch. On this recent visit I thought the food was pretty basic but the drinks were good and the service was extremely attentive. The parking is tough, I recommend you get there a little early to find a spot. read more

On this most recent visit, they were short-staffed, missing two of their four servers. Co-owner Ellen filled in. I have to say that there wasn't any drop-off in service. I want to mention the salted caramel gelato in particular, which was outstanding. My wife's chocolate cake was very good, if just a bit on the dry side. Everything was still well above average. They also make a cocktail called Bourbon Street Parade that is among the very best my wife and I ever had. They tend to rotate cocktails on and off the menu, but this one deserves a permanent spot. And unlike some venues, they haven't made their prices outrageous post-pandemic. I think that we're understanding patrons, and we want our favorite places to make money (or in this case break even since they're a non-profit). But so many places find ways to knee-cap you since COVID restrictions eased. Jazz Forum has continued to play fair. And I'm glad for two reasons. First, because it's a more pleasant experience. Second, because the places that fleece their customers will eventually suffer a backlash and likely go under. I would never want that to happen here. read more

I wish there were a star rating for music....and a separate one for the food. The music is awesome, no matter who is playing there. The ambience is nice, too: a small corner stage with tables for 2....tables for 4 ...and long row tables. A full bar. I suppose, with music being their raison d'etre, it should make sense that the food is only so-so. I ordered a Caesar salad with shrimp: $26 for maybe 3 ounces of salad and 4 small shrimp. ...no seasoning at all (except for the dressing). I dislike croutons but I was still very hungry so I ate those. 4 or 5 half-inch shavings of parmesan. My partner had farfalle with shrimp and basil. He liked it but it also was a small portion for the price ($25 I believe) and nothing else came with it. I understand they're a non-profit and need our income to survive, but I'll plan to eat beforehand next time....and just have one of their yummy ($15) cocktails. read more

Very, very nice. My first visit here to catch the Bob James Trio. The club is small ( less than 100 seats, all either at the bar or at tables), so everyone is close to the performers for a great show. As a club, we weren't sure how the food would be - even debated eating elsewhere before the show. Glad we decided to eat here - food was delicious. Service was prompt and extra friendly. So, good food with a great, Intimate show. Parking is a bit of a challenge, but plenty spots available on nearby streets within a very short walk. Only major complaint - patrons taking photos, holding their arms up above their heads to get a clear shot with their phones/cameras. This is incredibly rude to the patrons sitting behind them; and if those taking the photos didn't have enough common sense, then it would have been appropriate for management (owner's wife was sitting in the area at the bar) to intercede. Note - the length of the performances is a bit shorter than a full concert venue, which is fine given the quality of the club and price of the tickets - but, between the time used in the owner's introduction (and fund raising appeal), combined with the explanations and introductions between songs, too much of the actual limited performance time was lost. Still, the place is a great club to enjoy a quality show. Whole-heartedly recommended. I have already purchased tickets to my next visit here. read more

This place is such a wonderful and hidden gem! It really doesn't get better than this! I have been a few times and every time the Jazz music is fantastic. They get such talented groups and have music every Friday Saturday and Sunday - two sets an earlier and a later for each of the days. The food is a bit pricey but it's very high-quality and there is only a $10 minimum per set so you can always just get a drink if you'd like. Tickets for each show is generally about $30 and well worth it! Every seat in the venue is a good view because of its size and the sound quality is really great. They have a nice selection of beer and wine as well as mixed drinks. I love the atmosphere and the overall vibe of this place and cannot say enough good things. I really enjoy jazz music and have been thrilled by the various bands I have seen. There are very few places like this in Westchester Way you can see great and high-quality jazz on a weekly basis. read more

I went to Tarrytown for Wanda Sykes at the Music Hall and remembered this place from a few years back. After my show, I just wanted to stop by and think about whether to go in. I went upstairs and had the next customers go ahead of me. When they went in, owner was quick to want to shake my hand, introduce himself and chit chat. That is nice but I didn't want all of that... but you will probably like that. The entertainment looked and sounded so nice from the entrance and I remember the place being nice a few years ago. Here's a true hidden gem of westchester! For all you jazz fans wanting some great live music in an intimate but spacious setting with plenty to eat and drink this satisfies beyond measure. I had been wanting to come for a while and finally booked the Sunday evening set for Brazilian sounds from Debora Watts. The owner welcomed us at the door after the coat check as we walked past the room with a pool table into a fairly large dining area with a full bar. We were seated immediately with the chair backs against the wall for better viewing. Our server was prompt and friendly. I ordered a basket of bread and a bowl of pasta with meatballs which is plenty to share. The menu has a wide offering of cheese, meats, salads and a number of desserts. The wine list is diverse as are the cocktails with enough for all desires. I suggest a quick appointment with Jazz Forum which will never disappoint! read more

If opening weekend is any indication - this may the beginning of a beautiful musical relationship. With the talented Roy Hargrove and band playing one couldn't ask for a grander opening. The room was sold out however we found tables in our area comfortably placed Various Cheeses, bread, antipasti may be ordered however if one's looking for a hearty dinner go elsewhere then arrive to enjoy the music. Service was polite and professional. Occasionally a drink arrived that wasn't ordered but - hey - it's opening weekend. These very minor kinks should be ironed out. What an amazing experience!! Such incredible service. Right when we walked in the owners were there greeting us warmly. The room was well shaped so you can view the performance from every seat. They have a beautiful billiards room to hang out in before the performance. However, their food selection is not very kid friendly, but they do have a delicious bread basket and a good dessert variety. I'm sorry. I went to see Janis Siegel perform on New Year's Eve 2019. First they made us wait outside in the cold for 1/2 hr - with no explanation when I asked. I love Janis Siegel (of the Manhattan Transfer). What was not so great is the venue for a first class artist like Janis. All during the performance people were talking, eating, you hear dishes clanking, bartenders mixing drinks (which often sounded like one of the instruments). This may be a good venue for a jazz band playing in the background while having dinner - but not for a first class artist like Janis Siegel. Then to add salt to the wound - about 10 minutes before the end of the show - my waitress says to me that she will have to charge me for the minimum of 2 drinks (I only had one). So I ordered a glass of wine and barely had time to drink it. I never stiff waiters or waitresses - but I did this time. Oh, and did I say I paid $100.00 - yes that was $100.00 - for the ticket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would NEVER see someone I really want to see at this place. I say - DON'T - see them in a proper show venue. They didn't even have a step up to the stage - I couldn't even see Janis Siegel perform. I could only hear her along with the other noise. read more

We heard stunning arrangements by Bill Charlap & his Trio, which featured dreamy American song book tunes such as those by Cole Porter & a compelling medley from West Side Story. Fantastic venue for good music. I didn't eat here but we had drinks that were reasonably priced and regardless of where you sit the view of the stage is pretty good. We came for the early show and hung out to shoot pool (free) in the adjacent room. No pressure to leave quickly which put a nice touch on the evening. This little gem of a club would be a standout in the city, but having it in Tarrytown makes it even greater. I brought seven patrons ,one who is a member of the press, in tonight and had the worst experience with Ms Ellen Prior's treatment of our group resulting in two members or our group leaving mid concert, my brother in law and my wife felt compelled to leave due to her singling out my brother in-law for allegedly speaking loudly during the music despite my having a recording prior to the interaction proving that the group behind us was indeed quite loud. My wife reports her arm being grabbed forcefully by Ms Prior as she was interacting with my wife.Please be aware that we will be reporting this impolite and rude treatment throughout social media sites. We will not be returning as we felt our group was targeted from arrival till departure including being handed a bill for twice what was owed,! Adding injury to insult. . . How can you maintain customers with such rudeness. read more

I can not say enough about this place! I was thrilled to see Thelonius Monk lll a few weeks back and OMG!!! This is a quaint, romantic little spot with delicious food and creative drinks. The crowd is mature, discerning, but easy-going and friendly. The owners are often in the crowd talking to guests, helping the staff clean and prepare for the next show, and talking about JAZZ!!!! Was waiting for the day that there would be live jazz here in Westchester and it arrived last June. Thanks to the Jazz Forum and the focused passion of it's owners Mark Morganielli and Ellen Prior that day has arrived. I have been there three times since opening night when Roy Hargrove christened the place. What a thrill that was opening night. Last night Joe Lavano's energy played tribute to John Coltrain on his 91st birthday. In fact, this weekend Joe Lavano was in Tarrytown and next weekend he may be in NYC, Oslo or Palermo. He was amazing and he was 15 feet away. Arrive early to get the best seats and time to order drinks and a bite. It is an intimate space with a fledgling staff. Service may be slow but they are at it. Excellent choices of wine, beer, ciders and a full bar. Last night we enjoyed the Eggplant Caponata which was generous and most delicious. We ordered 3 cheeses Robiolo, Taleggio and Gorganzola which was served with some dried fruits and nuts but NO BREAD. What was that all about? Understanding that some menu changes will be made at this time of the year may I suggest some local, fresh apple slices and fig spread. Also soup might be a welcomed addition in the winter. Asked for some bread which was delivered. Tom ordered a Caesar salad which was so so at best as it lacked punch. In the past ordered from the "Salumi" portion of the menu and were served delicous and generous portions. The meatball specialty is delicious.
