Breakfast here was pretty bad and service wasn't good either. It took a long time to get coffee and we never ever saw her again or got a refill of anything. The buffet was very basic like the standard free fare you get at a Hilton when it's included - I had paid upon booking for breakfast included bc I knew the resort was secluded so it was about half off if you did that and was like $24 for two people instead of the $20pp or so if you pay walking in. I'm glad it was so cheap bc it wasn't good. They did not have anyone manning the omelet station but our server, the one time we talked to her, did take our order and said they'd make it in the kitchen. When they arrived they were big and fresh and my husband's which had ham in it included a huge portion of ham so it was generous. Pastries were not that good. Overall, quality wasn't good of the food and service was terrible. Best thing was the fresh fruit and the French toast sticks. Do not recommend at all unless it's free/included. read more

We (8 of us) stayed on-site at Margaritaville for a night. We ended up eating here twice--once for dinner and once for breakfast. The kids were on campus at the indoor water park, so we ordered dinner for takeout. I wish I would have taken a picture of the island grilled chicken that I had. It was delicious. I was honestly expecting one measly little piece of chicken and what I got was two pieces of nice sized chicken. The salsa was incredibly flavorful. We were all surprised at the portion sizes! Then, for breakfast, my husband and I snuck away to get a bite to eat. We ate down in the restaurant. Now, understand, we are here in December. We got seated right away and there weren't too many people in the restaurant at 8 am. There are lots of tables and different levels in the restaurant itself (so lots of stairs). We got a nice sized glass of water. Service was pretty good! Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and helpful. We were never once pressured into the buffet, although it was an option for $18.99 a person. We opted for the menu and got our food within 15 minutes. Unfortunately, this is the kind of place that relies on being in the resort for their business. We were pressed for time and stopped in for breakfast one morning, It was disappointing. The food was very average and they really tried to push their buffet. I do NOT do Buffets if I can help it and the server seemed annoyed. The place was almost empty and they tried to stick us at a table in the upper lever, with an inadequate view. Again, when we asked to sit in the lower level to take in the view and the sunshine, the staff was not happy. Pricing was very high for the quality of the food. A group of twenty-two of us came in unannounced on a Sunday night. Jb's wasn't our first choice at the resort but they were the only restaurant able to get us in right away and only split us into two long tables. The decor was well done and sleek. But holy air conditioning, Batman! My entire group left with blue lips and goosebumps. Parking was a non issue. Our waitress wasn't super knowledgeable of the menu but did a good job with such a big group from splitting tickets, to fixing orders. I had the fish tacos which were above average. The pineapple mango pico de gallo and cilantro lime slaw were great! The menu was kind of expensive--ranging from $12-28. I will say while the kids meals were $7 each-- the portions were generous. My littles inhaled their macaroni and cheese and chicken tenders. That mac n cheese was delightful. Overall, an enjoyable experience. Wouldn't say this is my pick of the many eateries living in Tan-Tar-A Estates but it's a solid option with a large group! read more

I don't understand the less than kind reviews. My experience was very good. My steak was cooked perfectly and was very flavorful. The serving of mashed potatoes was generous and delicious as were the string beans. The house salad was unremarkable but was fresh and crisp. Service was great and appropriately attentive. $38 (with an iced tea, tax and tip) makes this a bit expensive but probably part for the course on a resort property. Other than the cost, my only other complaint was finding the restaurant. Like my other experiences getting around on the resort property, though there seems to be signage everywhere, finding anything is a challenge. read more

Super cute restaurant and great nautical-themed décor! Super spacious and lots of different places to sit- whether you want to sit on the benches, or by the waterfront etc! I found the food to be good but found the service to be awkward and somewhat rushed. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip which was really good followed by the burger and a fish dish. Everything was great and with generous portions. However, I had a waitress whose first name started with a J who served me on the Saturday night of September 21st who rushed my friend and I when it got to paying the bill and I feel like those few minutes almost ruined the whole evening. Once we were done eating, we were given the bill and I felt like she hovered over us while she expected us to get our credit cards out to pay- usually they wait until they see the card and come by. However she didn't leave until we took out our cards and gave them to her. I thought this was a one time thing but then once we got our cards back and we had to sign and tip, she hovered over the table and waited until we both wrote out the tip and signed and took the bill. This moment almost ruined the whole meal for us- we just felt so so rushed. It wasn't even like they were closing anytime soon, they were still open for a few hours and we were thinking that maybe her shift ended but she still stayed around for another hour (we also stayed around for another hour to talk to another table beside us). All in all, prices good, décor super cute, but service was mediocre at best. read more

I was surprised to find that I enjoyed eating at this hotel restaurant. It has a beach/coastal vibe and the menu has items that range from standard bar food to coastal flair. I ate here twice while we stayed at the resort. Once for dinner and once for lunch. For lunch I had the cheeseburger, the Paradise burger as it is called on the menu. It was very good! The meat was better than I expected and the price was pretty decent for resort food. For dinner, I had the steak and peppers chips. I can't remember what it is called on the appetizer menu but it is basically homemade chips that are smothered in cheese sauce and beef and peppers. It was fantastic! The beer and the bar drinks are reasonably priced. They have a happy hour and some local beers on tap that you can try. The service was incredible. All our waiters and bartenders were fantastic! read more

While I'm a bit wary of the new Margaritaville theme - if you're looking for a nice quiet dinner, the music may be busy a tad too loud, my steak was prepared to perfection! Tried the revamped restaurant that is part of the new Margaritaville at Tan tar a. The remodel looks amazing and the lake views are amazing. Can't wait until summer to try out the new landshark bar and grill opening in the spring. Breakfast was delicious, quick and server was responsive. The buffet on the weekends is delicious and offers a large variety. Not fine dining but food is reasonably priced and you get large portions. Planning to try lunch or dinner during next visit. They've added a new deck with outdoor seating and fire pits. This resort is getting a well needed transformation. read more

Since margaritaville has taken over this place looks great. Love the decor and lake view. Menu is decent sized, enjoyed the Cobb salad. We also had the wings, which were kind of dry. The buffalo sauce is generic, but the garlic Parmesan sauce is yummy. The biggest reason I only gave it three stars was the service. Our server never came back to refill drinks or anything. She did however refill and check on the table behind us which was margaritaville employees . It is convenient though if you are staying at the resort. read more

Food is just so so. BB&C is very light on meats and sauce. Burgers were good. Fish tacos were mediocre. We did enjoy the beer cheese appetizer. The pricing is high for the quality. Soon to be Margarita Ville, Tan Tara Resort has changed many things under New management one being the restaurant located inside the main building of the resort JB's Boat House Grill. The food was tasteless. I am talking about adding salt and just tasting salt. The most bland fish sandwich I have ever choked down out of necessity. We also wanted a Ceaser salad, with no chicken, no problem right? Same price as one with chicken, so for 12 buck you get a handful of iceberg lettuce swimming in sauce. This place was sooooooooooooo much better before the acquisition. It is a shame. The staff is awesome and are having to deal with all the front line disappointment and their hands are tied.
