We paid for our shades and installation on 5/3/25, today is 8/8/25 and the install is yet to be completed, and they can't find time to fit us in until the end of September. Measurements taken by their employee were ignored when making the shades. I have been asked to miss work 4 times for in home appointments, 2 additional then needed (at this point), because of their mistakes. After having an installer who could not finish the install at the first appointment we waited 6 weeks for another appointment and they sent an installer in training, by himself, who did not have the necessary skills to finish the install either, knowing full well what was necessary for the appointment, ridiculous. Now waiting another 6 weeks. Shelly has ZERO concept of customer service, multiple times telling us that delayed responses were because the display room was busy. In other words, a customer who has paid multiple thousands of dollars with them is not important enough to take 5 minutes to respond to an email. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE

She was able to maximize the space while making it functionally work perfectly with our lifestyle. She was incredibly patient (I got very indecisive with the color towards the end). I appreciate how transparent the pricing is. They sit there and build every detail of the closet with you. The virtual look book and in person studio were really helpful for seeing all the various accessories and finishes. I was especially impressed with the install. The installer coordinator was really helpful in terms of telling us what to expect and how to make the day run as smoothly as possible. It seems like they have a bunch of contractors come together the day of. They do a great job executing the plans and I think a large part of that is how the designer communicates all the details in the final plan. The cabinets themselves are super solid and I've had no issues with the materials. Our toy closet shelves have this dark blue finish and we have had no chipping. Anyways, I can't recommend them enough. It's pricey but definitely worth it.

I usually apply rule #4 and rule #5 to my spaces, but I am getting it all under control. Did you know that The Container Store has a design team in Custom Spaces to plan out your room and now also installs? That's what I'm talking about. The designer came out to our house and gave us a plan for two pantry closets and three clothes closets. We also did this during the Elfa 30 percent sale. The parts were shipped to our house and in a few weeks the install crew set it up. I would suggest that the installation team bring the parts to the house instead, as some parts were not delivered, and someone had to drive out to another store to get the parts. Other than that, the closets look great, but my closet is already full! Time to employ the 80/20 rule!

While trying to manage my moms transition from the hospital to a skilled nursing facility, my own leave of absence from work, and missing my last child's last football game and all the other senior year activities - I was overwhelmed. I also needed to choose the right paint colors to make their home as attractive to buyers as possible, which in the best of situations is challenging, but I was in a serious pinch. Thankfully, God IS good - all the time! I walked in to JC Licht because they were the closest store to my moms SNF that sold BM paint. Ada (not sure about the spelling, sorry Ada!) approached me and I told her the three paint colors I thought I was looking for - but I really had not had time to consider how much natural light or lack there of, or how the colors would look with their hardwoods, or any of the other dozens of things that can make a paint color "all good" or terrible. She listened to every bit of information I could give her, and confidently told me the paint color and trim color I needed. And she was 100% right!!! She also helped me think through all of the other items I would need, helped me choose the right caulk, make sense of what tools I really needed (as well as what I didn't) and set up an account for me. I thought we'd be out by the middle of November, but as October moved into November, moved into December, I realized that she was right again! I needed one, it cost nothing and saved me a bundle! This young woman knows her stuff and she was SO much more than kind in her assistance to me. JC Licht Vernon Hills is fortunate to have such a competent - no skilled - no gifted! sales person working for them! Thank you Ada!!! Their house finally made it onto MLS Dec. 30th and it looks beautiful, thanks to your help!
