Took my 2020 Honda HRV to get my alternator replaced. After installing a warning light appeared "check warning system " that was not there previously. They don't know how it happened and can't turned it off. But I was guaranteed by them that no issues would occur. In the same year, my dashboard lights started to flicker crazy. Too scare to trust them again after they can't turn off the warning lights they caused so I went to 2 different Hondas stating it's the alternator replacement service with JC Master Tech that damaged my engine harness making it not connecting to alternator creating charge system problems. Honda said whoever worked on installing the alternator damaged my engine harness causing it to fail at charging my system. Now I have to pay $2000+ to get it repaired and parts replaced. Introductory The story begins when my personal vehicle broke down due to transmission issues which prompted me to turn to my uncle in order to temporarily borrow his vehicle, a 1998 Mercedes Benz C230. He received a registration renewal notice not long after and as a show of my appreciation, I elected to pay for it myself. I, of course, didn't read the part where it said I would be required to get a SMOG test until towards the end of the month when I attempted to pay for it. I brought the vehicle to a smog shop not too far away from JC's and they told me to come on the weekends as they do vehicles 1998 and older then. I thought this was weird but beggars can't be choosers and so I waited the next few days and came in on a Saturday. This time, there was a new clerk and he said that the machine had not yet been certified and I should come back next week. Then the next week comes along and I get the same response where the machine has not been certified. So now that it was April, time was at the essence! I didn't want to be stopped by a police officer especially after hearing about the 2019 California rule changes in regards to various fines and fees. So as I am mulling over if I should go back to the Smog location the following week I stopped at a Chevron gas station on my way back home and I noticed various auto shops scattered around the plaza. All of these shops are displaying various services they provide but since my concern had to do with a Smog pass, I noticed JC Master Tech. JC Master Tech Review I walk in around 12pm and I was greeted with a friendly hello by the desk clerk. The clerk would turn out to be the manager, James. Now usually, managers wear their job titles around and/or make it be known with their overly confident tone of voice but my impression of James was a far cry. I immediately felt at ease and friendly with James. I told him of my need for a smog check under the time constraint I was in and he said yeah no problem and to come back around 1:30pm after his guys are back from lunch. I come back at 1:30pm and there were other people in the waiting room but since James gave me his promise, he followed through without any excuses. Within 30 minutes I was in and out and I passed! James I am not sure if this will reach you but thank you for the follow through on your promise and I swear if I did not find out that you were management, this review would be twice the size only talking about reasons to promote you. I tend to stick with my usual mechanics and auto shops but your attitude is the pinnacle of customer service. I look forward to recommending this specific auto shop for not just smog but the other services you guys provide. James should truly be in a corporate position teaching his customer service skills to others because as this world is ever revolving, he tends to keep a keen sense of what a customer should expect. James exceeded all of my expectations and I have very high standards with myself and tend to look into and ONLY work with others who have similar characteristics and values especially when it comes to the work at hand. DO NOT GO TO JC MASTER TECH I Repeat DO NOT GO THERE , I took my 2016 Mercedes Benz E350 there on 4/11/21 around after noon to get a oil change and when they was finish, I was drove my car home then the check engine light came on , so I took it back right away to show them , the manager said okay I'll have someone look at it , so one of their worker use a code reader n the code came out p0014 ( Cam shaft position sensor ) then the worker told the manager then the manager told me sorry there nothing we could do since we only did a oil change and I told him my car never had a check engine light when I got here so why all of a sudden it came on and the manager just said there nothing we could do since we just a did a oil change. Jc master tech do not know what they doing , so I did my research on code p0014 and it have everything to do with the oil , the oil run through the cam shaft sensor, so pretty much they use the wrong oil or cheap oil on my car and not The recommended oil and they have the nerve to tell me they did nothing wrong and they can't do anything to fix it , so since they close on Sunday I have to wait until Monday 4/12/21 to try to get my refund back , I would give them ZERO STAR and would never ever go their again read more

When they tell you that you have to be wary when taking your car to a shop, they were talking about this place. They replaced my cars head gasket with the wrong one! After taking it here several times they didn't admit putting in the wrong gasket. They were going to charge us another $200 to see what was wrong, mind you after spending over a grand. I came here for a smog only because everyone was saying it only cost $30. Yet I was charged $40, on top of that I wasn't given a receipt so I can only assume this douche pocketed the cash. I also checked in for their "$20off smog check coupon". I showed the guy at the front my coupon and told him I checked in through Yelp and although he acknowledged it he still charged me $40. My car doesn't have special needs, it isn't old, and it passed smog so there is no reason for it to have cost me $10 more than advertised and $30 more than what it should've been with the coupon. This place is terrible! The man at the front counter is so rude. I went in for a smog test $51.00. My car failed due to emission control system. The guy at the front desk told me to drive 50 miles and then bring the car back in for a $31.00 retest. I contacted smog city on Bianchi they told me that I should drive 100 miles before I take another smog test, and if I only drive 50 additional miles like JC Master told me, my car wouldn't pass the test again. Their smog was $39.00 if you don't pass the smog the retest is free, you just pay $8.00 for the certificate . read more

The AC Compressor on my Integra seized. Getting a replacement one is no problem but getting the AC system properly evac'd *only* (not a recharge) so that I can do the work myself (to replace the compressor) to save money since I'm unemployed seemed impossible. I initially was just going to go to Firestone (since I have credit card with them) but they REFUSE to just evac only my AC system... other places charge WAY 2 much... SIMPLE EVAC people... hook up 2 lines and run the system. People like Firestone and the others are why people don't properly evac their system and there goes our ozone. I randomly dropped by this place & needless to say, James at the desk was helpful, courteous and provided a great deal. I WILL BE coming back to get my AC recharged and probably other car work as needed that goes beyond my basic tools. read more

My brother recommended me to go here last year for breaks and I can say I've always had great service. From the first time I came in James was very friendly and helpful. He not only was very fast at diagnosing the problems but I appreciated that the cost was upfront and reasonable. I came back for an alignment and also a change in transmission fluid and every time I was helped promptly and presented with options before the work was completed. After experiencing some minor break issues I took it back in fearing the worse. Busy as it was, they gladly took my car. Within a few hours James called and explained the rotors just needed to be resurfaced and that my car was ready for pick up, free of charge! Good people. I had an issue with my AC where it was pushing out hot air. They knew exactly what was wrong before the diagnostics was done. My place was far from the shop and they were able to give me a quick lift home. I really appreciated that! I had to be somewhere and they got the work done faster than expected. We will Never go to this place for wheel alignment or any auto services again. We initially went to this auto shop for a wheel alignment and what turned out to be a misdiagnosis of our vehicle. They claim they couldn't do my wheel alignment due to me needing 2 new parts(idle arm/center link). Once I got the parts and had them put on and went back to JC Mastertech. They state again they can not do the service I need for one of the parts was not replaced and now I need inner/outer tie rods. No one ever test drove our vehicle and several parts and hundreds of dollars later that we did not need to spend our vehicle still was not fixed. We took our vehicle to another shop and it was fixed in no time. We would not recommend this shop to anyone.. read more

I was a regular customer of JC Mastertech for over 15 years. Not anymore. I took my car in for a smog check that cost $52.00 which is high compared to most independent shops. The person behind the counter (I think his name is James) told me that the PCV valve was defective and that they could replace it for $138.00. Since the PCV valve was right on top of the engine and no tools are required to change it out I thought the price was a bit steep and decided to change it out myself. I replaced the PCV valve, the elbow and the tube that connects the two in 30 seconds. Within a couple of hours I was back in the shop and I was charged an additional $40.00 for the retest. Now, most retests are free but in this case James stated that I was charged for it because I did not have the repair done by the shop. That is $92.00 for a smog test. So who won regarding this shop visit? The valve, tubing and elbow cost $12.00 and the retest cost $40.00 which adds up to $52.00 versus the $138.00 James wanted to charge me for the repair. That gave me a savings of $86.00. Who lost regarding this shop visit? JC Mastertech. I own three vehicles and this shop will never see them as customers again. read more

I brought my car in to JC Master Tech on West Lane in Stockton For a diagnostic for check engine light they told me my vapor canister purge solenoid and vapor canister vent solenoid was bad they charged me 67. 97 for the vapor canister solenoid they charged me $107 for the vapor canister vent solenoid I called Stockton Honda the dealership and the vapor canister purge solenoid was $50.13 and the vapor canister vent solenoid was 77 .99 And I'll do the math that's 128.12 so for both of these parts at Stockton Honda was cheaper than what they charge me 175.04 and if that's not a price gouge I don't know what it is and that's not the half of it they charge me $90 for the diagnostic and all other shops that I know of when you get your car repaired they use it towards your repair Bill and that's not all they charge me four hours total labor to install these parts they charge $90 an hour they charge me $410 they don't know how to multiply 90 times four is $360 and also and also they lose your parts to put it back together and now supposedly the car is fixed I pick up my car from the shop I drive it home it sleeps all night I wake up in the morning and I start it up guess what my check engine lights on they are awesome mechanics I wouldn't let them work on my bicycle I asked him to just give me back 50 bucks because they miss calculated on the labor at $90 an hour for four hours of labor equals $360 but they charge me 410 at $90 how do you multiply thank you for taking the time to read this and have a wonderful day sincerely EDWARD KOSTIC PS spread the word and thank you again read more
