Let me say I can still see the tip he glued on even with the acrylic powder on top like it's horrible. Half my nail is acrylic pink the other half is white lmao I' get my nails done every 2 weeks I literally spend up to $100 on just my nails I know decent nails when I see them these are beyond amateur work. Got gel with design on my natural nail $60. A bit too pricey. Nail tech couldn't do the design I wanted. When she added the chrome to my nail on the design she didn't clean up the chrome to be on the design only and it went everywhere and just made my nail look sparkly and ruined the background of the nail. I so appreciated that Sue paid attention to detail from my color choice, my cuticles, evenness of my nails and texture of the polish. She even gave me a hand massage and hot towel at the end. This place is great and my feet feel amazing! I was in Santa Cruz getting tacos at my favorite place down the street (Perico's) and had been wanting someone to tame my feet with a pedicure. I was super happy to see that JC nails was open since all the places in San Jose aren't open yet! I was reassured to see that they cleaned/sanitized the seats between each guest. I see this other review of them not changing gloves or not having on masks. This was not my experience! They had their masks on the whole time. They were a little rushed because it was Saturday and there were people waiting to get into the seats but I don't mind. As long as they get the job done I'm happy! I noticed that Sonia (the reviewer giving 1 stars for cleanliness) has also left only bad reviews for other hair and nail salons. All of these places have 4.5 stars or more and a lot of reviews. Hands down one of the better nail experiences I've had in SC. I have no clue why this place only had three stars they were fantastic. Even the people around me nails looked good. The only downside was that when I requested stilleto shape was gonna be +$3 .. But then when the bill came it was only $38! That's a very low rate! And I got a full new acrylic gel set! I came to Santa Cruz from out of town & needed a fill on my acrylics. I came here & asked for an acrylic fill with a traditional French tip. They filed my nails so thin one of my thumbs bled. It took 2 nail techs to finish the job & it was still bad. The first nail tech could not get the French tip done right & left white nail polish all over my fingers. The second nail tech told me a traditional French tip was "too hard & doesn't look good" so she offered a v shaped French with glitter. At this point it's been 2 hours, so I accepted. I came today to remove the SNS on my nails and get a gel mani. The technician I sat down in front of started to take a clippers and pop off the SNS (which is like a acrylic gel overlay color) anyone who gets acrylics regularly or any other long-wear nail varnish knows that popping/peeling it off is bad bad bad for your natural nails. She cracked a corner of my nail and I said NOPE. NOPE! NAh unh honey chile. Not today Satan. Once I affirmed that I'm wearing sns and I prefer to soak she obliged and was very gentle from then on. (She musta done well I gave it 4 stars) Anyway she continued soaking the sns off and was very gentle in taking it off. I let her know I don't like the rotary file on my natural nail. She obliged "un-begrudingly" (usually techs roll their eyes when I request they don't use the rotary file) I got a gel mani with an accent nail. I love it! She took her time with the massage and finished with lotion and a hot towel. She used clean tools and took her time. Good manicure. For anyone wondering they do provide SNS or dipping powder color. I did an exhaustive search on yelp for this service in Santa Cruz yelp. It appeared that no one did sns in this area but this salon does. See my pics for details. I think they just started doing SNS manicures because most of what the woman (I wish I would've gotten her name) used she unboxed right in front of me and kind of seemed like she was learning along the way. It made me very nervous but I was pleasantly surprised with how they turned out. I'm very picky about how my nails are shaped and if the polish is curved well at the base of my nail. On those aspects I have no complaints! The only complaint I do have is she used a gel base and a gel topcoat; and put my hands under the UV light. I'm pretty sure this is because they're still new to it but it didn't make my nails as thick as SNS usually is. The times I've gotten SNS back home it's more similar to acrylics but I would say that this is closer to a gel manicure. But hey, for $35 (no extra cost for removing the SNS I already had), a great job, great service, and (hopefully) 3 weeks of unchipped nails it's totally worth it! Definitely will return. read more

The lady who was going to remove my old set came over she barely took and layers off and became to aggressively remove my nails. So badly that my real nails were ripping off and causing splits in them. Some even bleed. I told her that usually people file my nail down way way more and then slowly remove my nail. This is located in near Trader Joes and next to Mobo Sushi downtown. They have several locations in this area and depending on need, the technicians move around. My nails needed some cleaning, soaking and loving. After having brunch at Cafe Mare and getting errands run at Long's, I came here on a whim. It was only 11 something and the place was packed. Granted the location is small, but there were six nail technicians and six customers with two at the dry station. I got a french manicure for fifteen bucks. The ladies and one man worked quietly. They have three spa pedicure stations that from the looks of it were sanitary. The nail stations were clean, the floor could have used another mopping but over all this place seemed sound. My french manicure is even, the pink looks natural (not like an atomic bowling ball) and I am satified. Parking at this particular part of the strip mall can be an absolute pain with Woodstock Pizza, Cafe Mare, Mobo's the cleaners, Trader Joes and Longs BE FORWARNED! They are cash only and there is no ATM in the store (but there is a bank nearby and the grocery stores). The prices are reasonable.. they also do various waxing. They are open weekdays at 9 am, Saturday at 9:30.. Sunday I forget.. they are usually open until five or six. read more
