This was my first time for a pedicure at Diamond Nails. I made an appointment, but had to wait 10 minutes before they opened up. I also did not think to ask what the charge was. Alice was very nice and very chatty. The pedicure was fine, but I was surprised that she did not do any work on my cuticles or remove any dead skin. I also received no leg massage. Basically just a nail trim, and polish. It took less than 30 minutes to complete. Needless to say, I was taken aback when she told me it was $55 dollars (not including the tip)! This was my second time coming here and the nail technician Alice did not disappoint. This is one of the best nail salons in the Santa Cruz area. She was just finishing up another client when I walked in. I know she's busy because she's the only tech here, but she welcomed me immediately and had me pick a color while I waited. She also offered a bottle of water, which I greatly appreciated. Not too long after, she set me up for my pedicure. Alice took great care of my feet, even tending to my slightly ingrown nails. The conversation was amicable as she asked about my life. I felt right at home with her! Although the price is a little higher than I'm used to, the service is well worth it. Heads up for pedicures: this salon does not have massage/pedicure chairs. She has you sit in a regular chair and works over a large dog bowl with plastic. She did a great job however if that doesn't bother you. But a $55 pedicure + $10 gel removal is definitely overpriced for no massage, no hot towels, no foot soak. For a cash only place with no pedicure chairs, the prices should be much cheaper. Cute salon, cute dog, very nice owner. Make sure to only go for manicures! read more

This has to be the nicest nail place I've been too. The salon is small but doesn't feel claustrophobic. Tasteful decorated and very clear! The place is run by a very cute and happy couple. The wife is very upbeat and loves to talk. The have a small dog that runs around and does not like to be picked up. Lol. My grandma and I went in around 6 for out appointment. There was one other lady in there who said she's been going to this place for 14 years and loves it! The husband offered us water and other drinks. The husband did my pedi and the wife did my grandmas. They greeted us by name and made us feel very welcomed. They were both very quick and efficient. The best pedi I've had since I moved. I just called in and I'm surprised they answered since it's an hour before they opened. It is Tuesday morning 10am, and I wanted to make an appointment for a polish change for my gel, and a polish change for my toes. The lady who answered was very very rude to me. I'm not sure why :( I even asked her if a polish change was fine instead of a manicure and pedicure because I know some places don't have those services. I decided to cancel my appointment after she told me she doesn't have time for both "just one"...she didn't even offer another time or another day where they did have enough time. Does she not want new customers? Does she not want the money that'll pay for those services? I decided to cancel since I couldn't have both done. All she said was "okay, bye." Yikes, this was one of the worst nail salon experiences 'Ive ever had. Not only did the nail technician continually tell me what bad shape my nails were in, she kept trying to upsell me by buying this nail polish and then a gel mani rather than my regular mani which is what I came in for. The place was filthy - there was dust from nails everywhere and my regular manicure lasted less than ten minutes - for $20! My nails smelled like chemicals for hours later. No hot towels - she just used paper towels on me. It was like she really didn't care at all. I left in a hurry and wish I hadn't even gone. Just one day after the manicure, my nails were already chipped. She put such little time and care into the manicure that I just ended up taking the nail polish off already a day later. After trying many nail salons in Capitola, I finally tried Diamond Nails. My only regret is I should of tried them sooner! Alice is so personable and does an excellent job! I have gotten two pedicures and my eyebrows waxed and both were excellent. I usually breakout after an eyebrow wax, but whatever Alice uses doesn't make me break out at all. When a walk in came to ask about getting nails done, they were rushing us so they could get started on the walk in. I also asked for glitter nail polish which was on the samples, but told she wouldn't do it cause "glitter isn't classy". read more
