I called Alan for a estimate to re wire my Lorex security system because I thought the wiring wasn't any good due to no picture so he asked me to send him some photos of the back of my system and the wires. he called me back right away and said that it was a power problem. I had an extra AC pack that goes with the system so I plugged it in and it worked great. We had new windows installed in our home and the existing alarm system had to be reconnected. After deciding we needed a change in our security system due to some major flaws in the company we previously were using. I kicked my internet search compulsion into high gear, searched for a few weeks getting quotes and estimates. I even went as far as to hire a company that never showed for the install?? What I came away with is a sense that security systems are very hardware intensive and that the best course of action was to focus on the quality of the hardware as well as the company that backs their products. Finally found Watchdog Security and was very, very impressed with how well organized they are and how helpful they were during the 100% transparency, no BS sales pitches, and very knowledgeable people. Alan came out explained everything and was very informative. We have glass break and motion sensors instead, updated our alarm system. I was scheduled quickly and had the entire system (including 3 glass break detectors and motion sensors and an extra camera) in about an hour and a half from start to finish. If you need to update or install a new home security system in the Sacramento area, you need Watchdog. I am very happy that I invited them to help us in securing our new home in Granite Bay. Our house had an old wired security system in place, more than 20 years old, without any Internet connectivity, and without any cameras. We wanted a solution that would include monitoring, and allow us to remotely grant access to contractors when needed. We also wanted to use the existing wiring to both reduce cost, and to minimize drilling more holes impacting the property's appearance. He used my personal equipment from my garage without asking and left a bunch of cut wires all around the outside of my house. Had an issue w my dog who was only excited the first 5 mins of him being there and I made sure he stayed away from him the rest of the time because of his attitude. Below is my recent experience with Watchdog Security Alarm Systems. 1. On a personal level, Alan (owner) is a nice guy and I think it would be fun having a beer with him. 2. Alan will provide you with good "customer service" if you want to purchase a new security system or upgrade your security system. 3. However, if you are in need of service or repair to an existing security system, Alan's "customer service" disappears. In my case, Alan never responded back to me when I contacted him to arrange for a service call. (A courtesy call from him about a service appointment would have been nice.) In needing to have my existing alarm system serviced or repaired for my new tenant, I contacted a Rancho Cordova security alarm company. Although they didn't handle the ADT brand, they treated me like "royalty". They spent a lot of time explaining what might be causing my alarm sensor problem. They even gave me (for free) a sensor magnet that would help me locate the defective alarm sensor. Consequently, when I upgrade my alarm system at my home and 2 rental properties, I will definitely contact the Rancho Cordova alarm company. They are "heads and shoulders" above the competition. I will never forget how graciously Tammy & Doug treated me. And, I will tell all of my family and friends about their outstanding "customer service". read more

My experience with Watchdog Security is limited as I am a new customer, but I will give you a quick review of my interactions with the company so far and their product offerings. The owner returned my initial call promptly and popped over on a weekend to asses our older alarm that I wanted updated and activated. He is very pleasant and professional. Our older existing alarm is hardwired into our home and my goal was to keep it that way if possible. His lead tech came out a few days later and installed a new modern 2GIG main control panel and a computer module to transmit our older hardwired zones to the new 2GIG control panel. Turns out a couple of our wired zones/sensors were bad (or old wiring was bad) and they suggested replacing with wireless sensors. Full disclosure: I am not crazy about wireless anything (batteries, reliability concerns, etc.) and made this clear all throughout the project, but I agreed as I felt that was the only option to complete the project through Watchdog Security. Honestly, I didn't feel they had capacity or interest in running down our existing alarm hardwiring issue (even for an extra cost) and their solution to any old bad zone or old wiring problem is throw a wireless sensor on it. Probably saved me money (for now), but now I have numerous wireless sensors that some years down the road I'll have to fuss with. This just appears how all of these modern quick-install alarm or DIY packages are done and I guess I'll have to get used to it. I realize technology has changed a lot in 25 years since our homes hardwired alarm was installed. Watchdog Security seems to be using modern tech, powered by Alarm.com's very capable app and well designed web portal. Their monitoring service is also responsive. All in all Watchdog Security has done a good job trying to give us what we wanted and retaining a mostly hardwired system. Hopefully it all holds and is reliable for years to come. Two recommendations to Watchdog Security: (1) Having contracted extensively with large local firm Valley Communications, Inc. on a lot of commercial alarm and access control projects at several of my law firm's offices, I was sort of hoping for an experience like that. A firm willing to pull wire and give me tons of custom options rather than what seemed like a quickie install and one size fits all solution. I probably would have paid to have my sensors all hardwired. I would at least quote it out for customers. (2) I had to correct numerous typos in my home address, date of birth, credit card number, etc. I believe these were all supplied electronically correctly the first time so the issued occurred during opening up of our accounts and during paperwork processing. I would recommend paying closer attention to details and maybe a call with new clients ensuring all paperwork is accurate. In closing, Watchdog Security is a capable and professional small business providing wireless alarms and integration into Alarm.Com app and 24/7 monitoring services.
