I had an extra AC pack that goes with the system so I plugged it in and it worked great. We had new windows installed in our home and the existing alarm system had to be reconnected. Alan fixed all the wires and installed new sensors and magnets for each window and the sliding glass patio door as well. After deciding we needed a change in our security system due to some major flaws in the company we previously were using. I kicked my internet search compulsion into high gear, searched for a few weeks getting quotes and estimates. I even went as far as to hire a company that never showed for the install?? What I came away with is a sense that security systems are very hardware intensive and that the best course of action was to focus on the quality of the hardware as well as the company that backs their products. Finally found Watchdog Security and was very, very impressed with how well organized they are and how helpful they were during the 100% transparency, no BS sales pitches, and very knowledgeable people. Alan came out explained everything and was very informative. We have glass break and motion sensors instead, updated our alarm system. I was scheduled quickly and had the entire system (including 3 glass break detectors and motion sensors and an extra camera) in about an hour and a half from start to finish. I can tell you that we are definitely paying 30% less than what we have been paying! Bottom line, these guys are amazing and deserve your business if you want a monitored alarm system . (Or if you already have a system in place and want to add monitoring). What you spend on hardware will depend on the complexity of your system and the features you want - it could be as little as a few hundred dollars, or a few thousand, but its an investment that should last many, many years. read more

If you need to update or install a new home security system in the Sacramento area, you need Watchdog. Alan and his team really know their stuff, and they go above and beyond to meet the needs of the most demanding clients. I am very happy that I invited them to help us in securing our new home in Granite Bay. Our house had an old wired security system in place, more than 20 years old, without any Internet connectivity, and without any cameras. We wanted a solution that would include monitoring, and allow us to remotely grant access to contractors when needed. We also wanted to use the existing wiring to both reduce cost, and to minimize drilling more holes impacting the property's appearance. In addition to Watchdog, I reached out to the firm which installed the original security system, assuming that they would be able to work efficiently to upgrade their prior work. Once I had the two detailed proposals, I brought them to friends who are widely recognized physical security experts, with substantial experience with military, government, and industrial installations. They confirmed what I suspected - the Watchdog proposal did the right trade-offs, to manage project costs without any compromise in solution effectiveness and reliability. For example, Watchdog proposed installing one, not three in-house panels, because the entire solution could also be effectively managed from our smart phones. This made a lot of sense to me. In addition to cameras and an alarm, we wanted a solution that allowed us to identify people, disarm remotely, grant access, confirm that the property was again secure when it was time to revoke access, and then re-secure everything. He used my personal equipment from my garage without asking and left a bunch of cut wires all around the outside of my house. Had an issue w my dog who was only excited the first 5 mins of him being there and I made sure he stayed away from him the rest of the time because of his attitude. He also was in my personal things which I really didn't appreciate. He should've asked me to move my things instead of digging in my closet. Below is my recent experience with Watchdog Security Alarm Systems. 1. On a personal level, Alan (owner) is a nice guy and I think it would be fun having a beer with him. 2. Alan will provide you with good "customer service" if you want to purchase a new security system or upgrade your security system. 3. However, if you are in need of service or repair to an existing security system, Alan's "customer service" disappears. In my case, Alan never responded back to me when I contacted him to arrange for a service call. (A courtesy call from him about a service appointment would have been nice.) In needing to have my existing alarm system serviced or repaired for my new tenant, I contacted a Rancho Cordova security alarm company. Although they didn't handle the ADT brand, they treated me like "royalty". They spent a lot of time explaining what might be causing my alarm sensor problem. They even gave me (for free) a sensor magnet that would help me locate the defective alarm sensor. Consequently, when I upgrade my alarm system at my home and 2 rental properties, I will definitely contact the Rancho Cordova alarm company. They are "heads and shoulders" above the competition. I will never forget how graciously Tammy & Doug treated me. And, I will tell all of my family and friends about their outstanding "customer service". read more
