Most sales staff now are sort of surly and ill-tempered and don't seem to know their jobs very well. For example, it took me three visits to get help with a specific supplement they usually carry, and one sales staff person never asked for my customer rewards number. When I asked him if I could give it to him after he rang me up he said no. I left the store without my item. They also seem to have stopped carrying many items I used to purchase there. I'm going to start ordering what I need online. It's too bad because I really wanted to support my local store.

"I don't memorize all the bars" in a snarky tone. What the heck? She then walked over to the rx bars and pointed to the sign and said "it isn't for individual bars it is for the whole box". Nowhere did the sign say that but whatever- I am not going to argue over a dollar. I hate confusing and deceitful sale tags like that but whatevs. What made me most concerned? The employee who made the rude comment is a manager (I saw her name tag but I'm not going to call her out by name here). If the manager talks like this to customers, what are the other employees doing? How about, "I'm sorry, let me take a look at that for you"? The man that works there is extremely knowledgeable. He practically diagnosed me within minutes of conversation and gave me several options or routes I could take, based on how involved I wanted to be with treatment and how much I wanted to spend. I went there today and the experience was enlightening. It was the same guy, and he was very certain about what could be wrong with me. He gave me some options and commended me on my initial battle plan to attack my bout with bubble guts (I think I ate some undercooked sausage). He seems very sincere about everyone's health, all you gotta do is walk in. On a quick note, it is from my understanding that if someone is not a MD, they cannot "diagnose" "treat" or "prescribe" anything, which is why you will get "suggestions" So if this doesn't sound good to you, I suggest spending your day (and money) being climbed on by a family of 8 in the waiting room at the walk-clinic.

It's a supplements store. And despite a 2008 study, and others that followed, that proved people who take supplements shorten their own lives, it remains very popular to coke up on vitamins and fake health products legally only sold as "food supplements" since it's delusional that they contribute to health. Americans spend $20 billion a year to shorten life on the phony promise they're getting healthier! This particular store rather specializes in sports supplements. I don't see that they carry the ones that really help you bulk up (because they're illegal) but everything else they provide. The staff is friendly and hard-sell, because stuff with dubious scientific evidence of efficacy doesn't necessarily sell itself, there has to be a check-out counter person posing as physician trained to defend your health. And never mind that the medical findings for whey and soy protein shakes is they're great for constipation, bloating, nausea, headaches, and the soy content might even duplicate the effects taking female hormones, throwing the hormone levels out of wack, inducing infertility and sexual dysfunction, encouraging fat, and risk of thyroid injury. And then if you really must believe these have all sorts of health benefits despite the equal number of serious risks, just ignore the fact that lab analysis have shown that fewer than 25% of commercial products contain 90% of the amount of active ingredient (isoflavone, a phytoestrogen in soy) promised on the label. So even if it weren't contra-indicated for health, the possibility of getting that alleged benefit from products developed by an unregulated industry provide odds lower than one in four products tried. And that's before realizing the soy isolates used in these products are so harmfully processed as to be stripped of nutritional value in any case! People are nevertheless powerful believers in this and a thousand similar "health" nonsense myths. Total Nutrition really can meet the requirements of such belief systems, whether or not your actual health benefits. You can at least count on the placebo effect if you truly totally believe it's not all folly! And i'm totally in favor of the Ken Unger style gay icon on the roof!

Peering through shelves, standing literally 3 feet behind you and watching you touch her stuff. Sometimes I get lucky and she has a salesperson who follows me around, chattering constantly while I browse. The aggressive hospitality they practice isn't unique to Vitamin World, GNC does it too, but at least they are friendly aggressive, not acting like you just busted into their house and going through all the cabinets like Vitamin World's illustrious store manager. And yes I have addressed it with her, and I have addressed it with her salespeople. Usually as I am checking out so I can remind them that yes I am in fact a paying customer. I have even done what I normally never do and contacted their corporate office about her but they won't do anything about it.
