There was one guy all day just getting the measurements from the dudes on the roof, then cutting them to perfect lengths with the same machine. Very impressive professionalism. I had been searching around for a while since I had never replaced the cheap, plastic gutter system that came with my house. This is one job I would never attempt, since you have to climb up high on ladders and work on top of roofs. The backside of my house is like a 2 story home because it is built on a hillside. We had only one different company come and give us an estimate, and it was around $1350. At first I thought this was kinda pricey, but at the same time I had no idea what cost to expect. He also mentioned that his two sons handle the installations, which I thought was great since it was a family run business. Initially, we had actually agreed to go with another company until I realized the other company's license was suspended because both their worker's comp and insurance expired. When I checked The Gutter Connection's license, I saw that there had NEVER been a lapse in insurance or workers' comp, which pretty much sealed the deal for me. We scheduled an appointment, and Steve's sons arrived today. They were polite, well dressed, and professional. My husband and I were happy right away. During the job, they pointed out that one of the original plans for diverting water wouldn't work as expected. We agreed upon an alternative and it turned out beautifully. After the work was done, we walked around the house and were thrilled with how clean, seamless, and beautiful everything looked. I honestly can't recommend these guys enough. I can honestly say that Marcelino single-handedly has broken the mold for the "2025 colossal…read moredouchebag winner". I called him over a week ago for a job, and he quoted me a fair price and scheduled a date the following week to do the work. I'm redoing my backyard and needed to coordinate his job with some stucco repair and paint work from other subs. After five days of leaving several messages and texts, he gave absolutely no reply. I'm usually willing to give somebody the benefit of the doubt. There are several reasons someone might not reply... Maybe there was an accident....maybe something happened to their family, etc. Having said that, I figured I would try to call him from a different line than the one I had been previously using to leave messages and texts from. SHOCKER!!! He picked up on the first ring, then proceeded to tell me that he had to go to Mexico because his grandmother had passed away, and he had to deliver her body down there. Wow, that is completely tragic, and I wouldn't want anybody to go through that. He also claimed he would call me back within the hour to firm things up for the next day. Well after 4+ hours, that never happened. He just continued to string me along. Based on a lot of the one-star yelp reviews I read....Somehow, I have the funny feeling that he's had a lot of relatives pass away and have to be delivered down to Mexico. If you're looking for any kind of rain gutter work to be done on your house, Marcelino and the other folks at First Choice may be a good fit for you. If you like being quoted great pricing, then ghosted, lied to, inconvenienced, and left feeling like you completely wasted your time with a moron, then give First Choice a call. Marcelino and his business will fit all those wickets perfectly. I realize times are tough for contractors and subs right now. We're in the middle of a down cycle.
