I wish the photographer made the experience more personable before just snapping photos. He didn't even catch my son's name at first to call his name to grab his attention in the beginning. I also feel like he didn't have many ideas on poses. I asked if there were photographers that worked well with small children/babies and she said they were all trained to do so. I think they meant they're all trained to snap photos of all ages, not more so of talking to the babies, making them laugh, making it fun for them, etc. I bought a Christmas ornament just for memories, but it was printed weird. It didn't look like how it did on the computer. The overall experience was just ok. Nothing special. Definitely don't pay full price! Look for coupons on their website first. read more

I visit this JCPenney Portraits location every few years to take photos, and the staff is always bubbly and wonderful. This time, I came for best friend photos, and our photographer was incredibly helpful in suggesting poses since we came unprepared. His guidance made the session smooth and fun. There was also a lovely lady who chatted with us while we waited for our session and before reviewing our pictures--she had such a beautiful, positive energy. This location is by far the best! My partner and I went in for one of the iconic goofy JcPenny photoshoots that are trending online and had a great time with our photographer Luke! I would give negative stars if it was an option. My husband and I took our two girls, ages 3 and 19 months, to take our annual Christmas photos. It was difficult since our younger one was fussy (it was her nap time) and our 3 year old wasn't into it and didn't want to smile. We are done with our session and waiting to see the pictures. This woman with very short red hair brings us to the computer and says "So Jose says both kids are autistic" I was in disbelief. I glare at her and say uhhh nooooooo. Like wtf?!?! Why the hell would you say that?? I am furious and will be calling cooperate right after leaving this review. I've never been so insulted in all my life. DO NOT HAVE PHOTO TAKEN HERE, ESPECIALLY WITH YOUNG KIDS. It's like they've never seen toddlers uncooperative before! read more

My family and I scheduled a portrait session here for the first time. I called ahead of time and left a voicemail letting them know that we will be five minutes late maximum. We arrived five minutes late and the Caucasian woman with the long brown hair at the desk told us that she literally just canceled our appointment for a "no-show". I informed her about the voicemail that I left earlier that morning, and was immediately met with attitude and neck roles stating that after five minutes, they canceled it. I can understand the policy, however, it doesn't make that much sense to me since we were literally right there and the unprofessionalism we were met with was unbelievable. I responded to her advising that the attitude was not necessary, and her response was standing up with arm gestures, telling us that we can leave. Mind you, this is first thing in the morning, we have a newborn, and neither of us had an attitude at all whatsoever. I do not understand why she got so riled up so quickly and easily when they just opened. This was my first time ever scheduling portraits with JCPenney and I had a pleasant conversation with one of their employees over the phone about it so I was so excited. This experience was extremely unexpected and caught me off guard. I will definitely be reporting my experience to corporate, that was unacceptable in my opinion. I had made an appointment and still didn't get any photos taken after an hour. The new reservation system warns any late/missed appointments will be charged a $25 fee. I wasted an hour of my life waiting after my appointment time, is there any compensation back? This place is unable to make and keep to a schedule so I won't be back. read more

This was our first time booking with JCPenney Portrait Studio. We scheduled an appointment online, which was very easy. We arrived ten minutes prior to our appointment at 12:00, but it was packed. We didn't get our photos taken until 12:30, which was frustrating, especially while trying to entertain our two-year-old. We did Christmas photos. We wanted most of our pictures to be of our daughter, with a few of us as a family. Sadly, our girl wasn't cooperative for long, and we barely got any pictures of her by herself, which was disappointing. The photographer set a timer of 15 minutes to get the photos done. Our photographer mentioned we could book another session if we didn't like our pictures, which was nice. You get to choose two backdrops. We were very pleased with the two Christmas backdrops they offered. They also had a sled, basket, presents, and other great props. After the pictures were done, it only took about 20 minutes for them to call us back to choose pictures and decide on the package we wanted. They asked if we wanted to do a membership, which is $40 for session fees, payable only once for two years, plus you get two free prints. This saved us money because it's $15 per person being photographed for session fees (we had 3 people, so it would have been $45), so we saved $5 today and will save $45 each time we visit for the next two years. Online, there are many coupons that you can stack, which we did, getting $80 off digital photos and one print for $7. After taxes, we paid $150 for all digital images and 3 sheets. Next time, it'll be less since we won't have to pay the session fee again. Overall, it's a steal of a deal for professional photos. We will definitely be coming back, just hoping the wait won't be as long next time. read more

I took my toddler twins to go get their 2nd birthday pictures taken the girl that took the pictures did not do a great job. I told her to stay ready and she didn't every time I got them to smile and ready. I looked down in the camera was on the floor by her leg never once did she capture any good photos? I told her I hated the pictures. She didn't have any thing to say so I called the next day to ask for a retake. The manager tells me she agrees with me that the picture Were not up to par, but there was nothing she could really do but give me a discount after paying close to $200 for these god awful pictures I do not recommend you to take your toddler to take pictures there. My family and I did our annual holiday picture yesterday evening, and we couldn't be happier about how things turned out! Joshua, Maria, and Monique helped us, and they were wonderful. I've been coming to JCPenney Portraits sense 2019, always had a wonderful experience with my children! In my past experience the photographer worked with the kids of all ages and, directed me how to help! Until today, the photographer lacked direction and DID NOT pose the kids at all. We were told to have all four of them stand on the red dot. I was puzzled because, I had two toddlers, an infant (3 month old) and a 8 year old. That was the beginning of a horrible experience!! Yes kids are kids and run off, cry and are easily distracted! The photographer did absolutely nothing!! Literally!!! I had to make suggestions and pose my kids!!! I didn't get the second background that I requested!! I didn't get the group shot that I wanted!!! I was beyond overwhelmed by the end of the session I was ready to walk!!!!! If I didn't have an additional child joining my children I would have!! The pictures looked like crap!! I did not like any of them!!! Chase helped with the sales at the end, I explained my frustration to her. She tried her best to help make the experience better. Spend $119, on pictures I absolutely hate. I don't think I'll be coming back. Only have three stars because, of my past experiences otherwise it would be zero. Update: Spoke with the manager Sharon and, we will be getting new group session in the near future! She listened to my frustration and, will be taking our photos personally. read more

The customer service here is exceptional. I think the woman that helped us was named Aubrey (or something with an A). She is the bomb. We got to our appointment early and she was able to get us in sooner and she was very flexible with all of our ideas. My granny was being silly the whole time and it was a whole vibe. I am so appreciative for her being so patient with us. She made our experience extremely pleasant and she did an awesome job with the enhanced prints. Went here with a Groupon for maternity pictures, there was maybe 3 good pictures. I got a call a few days before my appointment stating pictures now get shipped out and could take 3 weeks to get to you and my out couldn't be any type of revealing. I explained these are maternity pictures and my dress is sheer with a slit so my belly would show and to let me know if I need to go elsewhere, he agreed it was fine. I made sure to come in boy shorts so any underwear problem wouldn't be a issue. Day of the appointment when coming out to the picture studio my outfit was up for debate on if I was able to get serviced. They agreed it was okay. Then the pictures I had in mind they said they can no longer do for whatever reason. And to add the picture rooms are glass so you can see through the room while being serviced, who wants to be stared at while taking family photos. Definitely frustrating! read more

I be been to this place and will continue to frequent for my pictures. My experience I was 38 weeks pregnant and there for my maternity shoot. The photographer was great she understood my insecurities as well as my fatigue. lol I wanted these pictures done she found our balance and took come nice pictures. Although I wish she would face adjusted my hair and small detail I was still satisfied. I had my baby 3 days later thank goodness she was able to capture the moment before, I enjoyed her so much I went in for newborn pictures. I loved the pictures of my newborn. This time it was guy and man was he patient. I was thrilled that he understood my newborn was fussy with hunger. He took the time to let me feed the fussy one in order to get calm good pictures. He even got an awesome picture of baby smirking. Their pictures are always great and they offer so many options. Only reason I give 4/5 stars is because of their out dated props. They go mention to provide your own if you would like specific things. Can't wait for my holiday photos read more

I have 8 month old twins and decided that it was high time that we have our first family photo taken, so I found a great deal on Groupon and had the EASIEST time booking an appt, then rescheduling last second around their first nap that morning. And, despite coaching myself to stick to my guns on redeeming our Groupon without any added poses or prints, of course they did such an amazing job that we had to buy the digital copies of all of them. Smh. Despite dressing my son as Santa and his twin sister in a sequin candy cane striped dress, I seriously questioned the possibility of them holding smiles at the same time for a whole session, but our photographer was a miracle worker and nearly every shot was solid gold! Not to mention the fact that he got us right in when we arrived, recommended the best backgrounds and props to compliment our outfits and the occasion, and even suggested we separate the twins for individual shots! We'll definitely be back for their 1 year photos. Update: We came back for their 1 year photos, with the coupons they sent in the mail (which was a better deal than Groupon) and Robert rocked our photo session again despite the twins being stone cold at first. I won't be going back to JC Penney Portrait Studio. The initial experience was great. The photographer was very nice, did a great job getting some pictures of my family, and the price was reasonable. This big downside is that the most important picture and the one we chose to put on the wall was cropped in a way that my brothers head would be cut off if you put the picture in any frame. It's the second time they've done this. Pretty upsetting. read more
