Had an experience today at this JCP that everyone needs to watch out for. I picked up two shirts and a pair of shorts. One of the shirts was $28.00 the other was off a clearance rack for &9.99. The shirt off the clearance rack would not scan, so the cashier just scanned the $28.00 shirt again. I'm like WTF? When I said something to the cashier he said "I'll adjust the price to $14.95" I told him that was great but it came off the $9.99 clearance rack. At that point he made the adjustment to $9.99. I understand that this is JCP and not Macy's or Nordstrom's but I do expect a level of service where I can trust the cashiers. read more

This goes to the salon, the girls are super nice and they do a good job! The place is always well kept, quiet, very relaxing. I just wished they opened up the nail salon again. Spending hours at the salon is tiring, I don't really want to go sit in another chair for someone to do a mani/pedi. But overall good. read more

I placed an order for some boys large shirts they didn't have in stock and I went in the day after they had notified me they were delivered, I must have waited 30 minutes for the lady that deals with in store orders, for her to deliver the shirts without an apology for the wait or even an acknowledgement. Poor customer service and value. I will definitely take my business elsewhere and now understand why everyone speaks of jcpenny poorly. read more

Horrible customer service at sephora. Came in to get a foundation but they were out of it on the display. I asked one of the employees to check for me and he opened the drawer, looked down and literally just walked away. I thought he was going to the back to look for more or something so I stood there like an idiot and waited for 15 minutes. Then I saw him helping another customer with perfume. I don't know if it was because the store was packed and hectic at the time or what, but at least tell me you're sold out instead of having me stand there and waste my time. read more

This yelp is for the portrait studio @ the JCPennys @ Victoria Gardens. Came here for newborn pictures for my 3 week old. I was able to purchase a Groupon for a great price and also set up an appointment online. It was easy and convenient. Fast feedback via email confirming the photo session and even received a call from the portrait department to confirm as well. Although they were behind schedule they were considerate enough to tell me how many sessions were before me. Understandable since they seemed to be working with several babies and kids. My little one was fussy at first but we were able to take some time to feed him and make him more relaxed. The photographer (Ciara) was very patient with us and took other clients until we were ready. The photographer was able to work with our little one, swaddled him, and was able to take some great shots. Afterwards she worked on some of our photos, showed us some collages she made and was able to go through every photo, enhancements, details and pricing. Our appointment was at 11 and we didn't finish until after 1pm. Not once did I ever feel rushed or was pushed to buy a package. Ciara was pleasant, patient with us and gentle with our child, gave us every option and detail to the photos and packages they offer. I had a great experience here and will be back! read more

Walked right in, asked where black men t-shirts were, the long and short sleeve were mixed on one side with the v-neck on the other. Took me too much time to get it and go. Finally got two guys to help, one(bright green hair) went in back, the other didn't seem to know anything. I started separating the shirts by type, long sleeve, v-neck, crew. Bingo, found 2. By the time I was in line(one person ahead of me; the green haired clerk came with two. BUT, for the next 10 minutes I waited. Finally a woman looked up and said "I'll be right with you" very disappointed in some of the floor help and there should be more clerks on registers. read more

I had to wait in a half hour line to buy towels, while I could tell the clerks weren't performing their job effectively as one of them spent ten minutes talking to a woman about good restaurants in San Diego. The signs will say 40% of in bold large font. The tiny print under the large font will indicate that this sale is only good if you buy $40 worth of merchandise. So if you are purchasing $39.99 worth of clothing you will not get the sale. This pricing deception with large font and then tiny tiny exclusions under the large font is seen throughout the store. This review is for the portrait studio. I had a same day appointment for my daughter and when I get there it was empty. So right away we choose 2 backgrounds since we had 2 outfits. The session went pretty quick as my 1 year old wasn't really into it, but also the photographer didn't really care to try. Didn't like any pictures. There was a photo of my daughters eyes half way closed and she was using it in a collage, which I didn't purchase. I only bought 3 pictures. Then come home & check my emails and she ordered 1 wrong picture. So I call, and she was trying to explain that I need to re order because they can't do it over the phone. Then I get another email and she ordered the one I wanted. So it'd be ready for pickup along with my other 2 pictures. I go to pick up a week later when they're ready & explain to this employee & so she looked for my 3rd picture and she said there was no other order. So now she had to order it, which will take another week. She tried saying I won't get the picture for the discount price, & it would normally be original price but she'd "honor" it for me this time, as if it were my fault the order was wrong. She said she'll take my payment but I explained, no because I already paid for the 3 pictures except the 3rd picture I did not want that one it was a mistake by the employee. She asked for the picture back and just said ok it'll be ready for pick up on April 11. No apology for their mistake. Was always a client for my children's photos being taken with them, & I will now find somewhere else where they value their clients & take the time to take great pictures. read more

This review is for the portrait studio. I took my three kids (ages 2, 4, and 9) to have their photos taken on July 17th in the evening. I can't remember the photographer's name who helped us but I just wanted to say that she did a wonderful job, especially being all by herself. She was very patient with my kids and anyone else who walked in there! You'd think they'd have more than one employee working in the evening on a Friday but I guess not. However, this young girl was fantastic, better than any other photographer we've had at JCPenney (and we've been here a few times) and I wish I remembered her name! We arrived at 6 pm and there was already another family there who were deciding on which photos to buy. While they did that she got my kids ready to take their photos, and as you can imagine, that is not always easy with a 2 and 4 year old. This girl was very calm and patient (I keep pointing that out because I've had JCPenney photographers who have seemed not too interested in their jobs) and snapped a few photos before going back out to help the family who was going to pay for theirs. This is where my kids got tired of the photo taking and decided not to listen anymore. I can only do so much bribing to get them to smile for the photo, and my 4-year-old decided he was over it. When she came back he refused to smile, and I know it's because he ran out of patience and interest when she had to leave for a bit to help the other customers. They needed at least another employee there. We did get some great photos for the first half though! I must say that. While we were waiting for her to show us the photos on the computer another family walked in for their appointment, so again she had to help two families at once. She went back and forth between us for about 45 minutes! We had several questions about packages and pricing and she was always very helpful and polite, even with crying kids running around the place lol. If I come back it would be just to have this young woman take my kid's photos! read more

This is for the Portrait Studio since, not surprisingly, they don't have their own separate Yelp page. Came here for a business photo, suit and tie deal. They quoted me $50 for ONE picture on a CD. A little steep but OK they're professionals, they're gonna make sure it looks great. Not. The "photographer" couldn't have been more than a high-schooler. She just says "sit down, turn a little" etc. Click click click done. Wait, what? There was NO MIRROR in the room to check yourself, she offered zero advice on what looked good or didn't, did not straighten up my tie or jacket, did not lint brush off any stray lint (which ended up in the final picture). No touch-up offered, nothing. This is not a professional photo studio. When I paid all of a sudden it was $10 more for a "sitting fee" they forgot to mention. So $65 out the door for 1 photo that my wife could have taken if we had a blue background. Joke... read more

I waited in the upstai Rd s online order line where two employees proceeded to argue loudly in front of all of us in line. Wow. I had about $100 worth of product in my hand in Sephora and asked to be color matched. She (blonde with glasses) said she didn't have a lot of people working (while she was cleaning a fixture) and to hold on. Then proceeded to say I had to wait for the other associate who was putting makeup on someone else. Uhh needless to say I will never come back. It was 10:30 and they had no one else in the department. You could have had me for a few hundred but that's okay. I went to the Sephora and spent $250. And they didn't mind helping me. Sorry I just woke up and didn't look beautiful. I just wanted to spend some money. I just wanted you to tell me what to buy. Big mistake on my part. I will never go back. Worst place to shop ever! This store is extremely unorganized and managers are not consistent. I saw extreme prejudice being here! A white lady came in with an expired coupon but she said that she called before and they told her they would honor it so the manager (who was a white lady also) gave her the discount. A little later a Hispanic lady came in with the same exact issue but another manager didn't not honor it! I asked why and she said they never do that but I had told her that another manager did that for a customer just earlier that day? She just asked wHo it was and said they weren't supposed too. Again it happened with coupons being passed out during Black Friday. A Hispanic lady came with a few coupons that were not going through so I called a manager and they came and told her that they had already been used and she could use them but the lady was saying no she never used them. A little later a white lady came with with the same exact issue, another manager came and gave her the discounts?? This place is terrible! read more

This time we had to wait over an hour for our pictures and ruined the moment for our daughters. The attention span of a 2 year old and 6 month old is extremely limited. This review is for the portrait studio. I made an appointment for the Saturday after thanksgiving. I expected it to be busy, it wasn't too bad to my surprise. Basically as soon as I got there everything went down hill though. We had to wait about 15 minutes even though we had an appointment. The pictures were for my 3 kids and I had a couple poses in mind. Tey rushed us into the "studio" and starting taking pictures immediately and very quickly. My 9 week old started crying within 1 minute so I took her out of the poses and told the girls it was ok because she had just had her own pictures done by a professional photographer. During all the chaos I wanted to tell them to take at least one shot of one of the poses I wanted but 30 seconds after I started calming my baby we were told "ok we will look at the pictures and see what we get" they literally had been taking pictures for 4 minutes!!!! I asked if I could Breast feed her in the dressing room where you can change outfits for pictures and see if she would be happier for a couple more shots, they told me " if you want to do that you will have to wait until everyone who is here gets pictures done and go to the end of the line" are you kidding me!? So then my husband and other two kids stayed and waited while I breastfed my 9 week old in the DISGUSTING BATHROOM. While I was in there my husband called and told me we had a problem because they were saying the cheapest package they had was $200. So I went back and the girl was nice but gave me her sales pitch for about 10 minutes without letting me speak. She told me the same thing, the smallest package was $200. She was very pushy about the $500 package, if I wanted to spend that much I would go to a real photographer like I did with my baby's newborn photos. After telling her 20 times that I wanted a small package she finally flipped the paper over that had the packages and showed me the other ones. She seemed irritated that I wanted a smaller package so she told me she would let me look and walked away. Finally another worker had to tell her to come back to me after she left me there for forever. So I ended up leaving there with a $150 package. By the way thy only took approximately 12 photos of the 3 kids. What a joke. I will just stick to my professional photographer. read more

This is not my regular store that I go to. Only went in here because I was in the area and had never been to this shopping center before. I had an item in my car that I needed to return but I had no receipt for it. I figured since I paid with my debit card they might be able to search the receipt on their system by swiping the card. The gentleman that was helping me was actually really nice, when trying to scan the item and ID card a receipt printed on their register. He informed me that he needed to call a manager to finish the transaction. Finally a "manager" named Diana showed up and looked at the receipt for a split second and liked at me and RUDELY said "I can't do it". Umm okay?? I'm not the type to question store policies or give employees a hard time. But when a "manager" is rude for no reason and can't properly explain why the return can't be made then that's where I have an issue. While I tried to figure out why I couldn't do it she just had a nasty attitude about the whole situation and was only giving me one word answers. During the argument with her I see that the guy who originally started helping me was just there watching eating M&M's and chewing them extremely loud. Diana is not a real manager. Her and the guy need to be properly trained on job etiquette, I can't believe these kind of people are given jobs at what is supposed to be a "high end" shopping center. Horrible customer service from these two and now I wil never return here again. Definitely ruined my first time here at this center. The employees here are so unprofessional. I came into the store yesterday (12/11/14) with my two children to just browse and possibly buy a few things. As I was in line near the juniors section, I over heard some of your employees yelling and being rude to some customers who wanted to repurchase some stuff. I was in line for awhile and I heard everything along with some employee names. The employee yelling said her name was Stacy and the other employee was B or V. I've never seen such unprofessional managers or supervisors. Not sure what they were but I'm reluctant to return to Jcp after seeing how they act in front of a line full of people. Although I've only shopped here once, we received perfectly adequate service in the store (albeit a tad slow) and excellent service inside Sephora. I'll edit my review if I can find the card for the young woman who helped me, she was a manager in Sephora and took the time to help me and gave me some samples of a foundation I now plan to go back and purchase. She totally deserves a shout out. Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation is an amazing full coverage foundation btw. I toyed with giving JC Penney 4 stars since inside the store I had to really look for someone to help us and actually I probably wouldn't have written a review at all if not for Sephora but the overall rating of 2 stars really seems harsh. The service inside Sephora deserves 5 stars for sure. I went to the big Sephora on the other side of Victoria Gardens first but it was so crowded and chaotic that no one was available to help me. I knew there was a location inside JC Penney and I also knew that they don't have as many products but it was definitely worth a shot. They didn't have everything I was looking for but they still have quite a bit packed into their space. You can always cap to make sure they have what you're looking for. One drawback however is the lighting is horrible so I would definitely look at yourself outside in the natural light before purchasing a product you are not fully familiar with. read more
