Went in today to buy some bath towels. Tried Sears first bu did not like any of the colors. Then went in to JC Penny, woah, really big selection of Egyptian Cotton towels, lots of colors. Nice and soft, 30" x 54", found the perfect purple/ lilac color, really fluffy. They were $10 for plain and $12 for swirly pattern. They cost more than Sears but do look really nice. Didn't have to hut for a parking space on Labor Day and checkout wasn't too painful. 3 stars, upgrading previous review on towels. read more

Poor service, poor communication, reneged on their promise to deliver, money locked for 1+ month, I will not order online from JCP again. I bought 2 items online to be delivered to this store. I spent 90 minutes and $7 worth of gas to go there after I got a delivery notification by email only to find out that one of the items had not been delivered yet. They told me to come back at a later time, and told me to wait for a confirmation email. No email ever came from them, and when I checked the order online today, I discovered that the other item is no longer available (at least they sent a check refund, or so they said). Now I must spend another 90 minutes & $7 worth of gas to pick up the other item. In total, 2 trips, $14 and 3 hrs of my time to pick up an item that cost 16.99! Outrageous! So I had to spend another 45+ minutes on the phone to get a promise from them to mail the remaining item to me. A supervisor should have called me 1+ hr ago to confirm shipping details, but hasn't. I am extremely unhappy. I pointlessly spent 3 hrs of my time + 7 bucks on gas (potentially 1.5 hrs & $7 more), plus lent some money interest-free to JC Penney, all for nothing. I usually have no problem with this store. Well, my last two experiences here have been HORRIBLE. Or maybe everything seems worse right now because I am sick :( Anyhow: EXPERIENCE #1: Went on Thanksgiving Day to purchase the diamond earrings that were on sale. Waited in line. I also wanted to purchase the gift card promotion (spend $100 in gift cards, get a $25 coupon). Well, by the time I wanted to pay, the lady at the register told me she did not have any of the $25 coupons, but that any of the other registers would. They put my earrings on hold and told me to come back. I did have something else that I could pay for at another register (at the register I was just at, they would only ring up fine jewelry). So I went to another register and bought some trinket boxes that come in gift boxes. Well, the register girl ripped off the security bar that is glued to the gift box and ruined the box, making it un-presentable for gift giving) (when apparently the tag either needed to be simply swiped, or gently peeled off to avoid damaging the box). Anyhow, I also wanted to buy the gift card promotion, but the same lady had NO CLUE about the promotion. I finally went back to the other register where I would buy the diamond earrings and told them about the gift card incident. The same manager lady who previously told me that they were available at other registers finally decided to just get one for me. WHY she couldn't just do this in the first place is beyond me! She seemed to be a manager, so I told her about the gift box incident, and she really could care less about what I had to say. EXPERIENCE #2: Went today to return an article of clothing. There were 2 lines and 2 cashiers: One for returns/exchanges, one for online merchandise pick-up. The line for returns was long, whereas the line for pick-ups was empty. In about the 1/2 hour or so that I waited in line to return the top, about 4 people who came for pick-ups at various intervals were seen right away since there was no line. It was irritating to have to keep waiting while they just came and went like lightning. Why have 2 lines in the first place? Why do the people with returns have to wait a long time, whereas people who show up for pick-ups get taken care of in a matter of seconds? Why couldn't the pick-up people wait in the same line as returns, instead of a non-existent pick-up line? It's like, "Pick-ups give us business, so they shouldn't have to wait. You (returns/exchanges) do not (give us business), so feel free to wait much, much longer before we can help you." Why couldn't the idiotic cashiers see how flawed the. system was and talk to management to change it? Surely I wasn't the first one to complain. Or maybe I am? :( Sigh read more

This review is for JC Penny Online. This is the 2nd time it happened. I just had to give some reviews to warrn other consumers how bad the customer service at JC Penny is. I placed an order including some Christmas Gifts for my son on December 14 and was confirmed thru email the orders will arrive before X-mas. Until today, January 13, 2020, we still did not receive anything even my credit card had been charged since the 1st day I placed the order. Called in twice and finally got thru without waiting 20 minutes on the phone. I was informed by a very unfriendly representative that the Items were not in stock and they just did not care to contact the customers. She then credit back to my account. Good thing I bought my son something else too for the X-Mas, otherwise, Thanks to JC Penny, my son would not have any X-mas Gift this year! Never again my family will buy anything from JC. Be aware! Bought a-lot of clothes for my kids and nephew.. pretty much everything was on sale. And says there in the sign but this lady named virginia in the cashier-by the kids department kept questioning the price every transaction. Its offending because its not like we cant read. I needed work shoes for work and since my husband has an account with Jcpennys, I decided to look for shoes at Eastridge mall branch. I Found what I was interested in, but shoes were brown. I needed black. I searched for a few boxes under table but did not find my size and color. I went up to sales lady at register, "AGUENDA" with a sample of the shoe and asked politely, "Do you have anymore inventory in the back on these shoes?" She replied "Oh, those are new so it's regular price." Confused and surprised by her response, I replied, "I wasn't Inquiring on the price, I wanted a different color". I said "Thank you" and walked away. I explained to my husband what happend and he started helping me look at other shoes. "AGUENDA" walked by and my husband wanted to give it a try to ask again, just in case she was misunderstood me. He asked " Do you have another color in these shoes or similar?" She replied, "Oh no. Those are new on our stock, but we have more shoes in the "Clearance section", it's over there." My husband and I looked at each other and I replied " It's not about the price, I am looking for a specific color!" She kept quiet after that. I still thanked her but I told her we didn't need her help. She repositioned the shoes to another place after we put it down. I am so disgusted by this representative in "CUSTOMER SERVICE"! We were not in business attire, but were wearing gray t-shirt and jeans then sweat pants and white t-shirt. Did that matter? Apparently to her because of the way we were treated. I explained we, at no point, mentioned "PRICE". Very disappointing because we normally shop at JcPennys for clothes for family, but she made an impact on our decision to even go back again. Salon was a complete let-down. I booked an appointment online, took time off work and arrived on time. When I got there, the front desk was empty so I waited... ten minutes passed so I stuck my head around back and made eye contact with a stylist... she ignored me. Another stylist walked by, I'm guessing on her lunch break, and didn't bother asking if I needed help on her way out... Twenty minutes later, another stylist, Alma or something like that, came up front to use the Phone. She didn't greet me or ask if I needed anything until AFTER her phone call- irritated but eager to get to my appointment I said yes I had an appointment at 1 PM it is now 120. She said who is your appointment with and I said my email confirmation says Christine- however my appointment was booked online through the system with someone else. She looked and said that Christine was off today and she did not have her phone number to contact her and the other person whose name was online, she has never heard of. So I told her that I took time off to come to my appointment as scheduled AND confirmed with A total of three emails from JCPenney and I wanted my hair done. She said unfortunately everyone is busy and she could not help me. I told her I thought this whole experience was unprofessional and she said "yeah will take it up with online survey or something." read more

They had a whole women's Nike fitness section to look at and their stock was pretty good. I really enjoyed working for this company . I learned a lot about professionalism, work ethics and how to be more of a team player. The store leader at the time I was hired was a superb leader, the managers were very knowledgeable about the company and its products . I loved how the managers at JcPenny maintained professional manners and was able to engage with the employees in such way , employees loved getting the job done and getting it done right. I love the flexibility they offered for employees with various circumstances . The perks and incentives drove its employees to set the bar high. JcPenny takes care of its employees and I loved that. I loved the company employee benefit packages and lastly....EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT I miss the ability to shop quality name brand items for work, home, gifts , and sending a child off to college. I got glasses at Eastridge JCP. What a crock. They had a special where they had taken down all the nice frames (that were up days before) so that you had to get glasses you didn't really want but were part of the deal. I went ahead and had my eyes examined. The regular optometrist wasn't in so I got some young girl who argued with me about using the drops that dilate your pupils. She insisted, and as a paying customer I had the right to say no. Then she left we voice mail messages reminding me that I NEED to have it done when I come in and pick up the glasses in a week. The glasses, bifocals, were hideous. Two days later the arm broke on the pair and I never took them back. I used the Rx to order a pair for a fraction of the cost at Zenni online. read more

Today after my shift at work i came to eastridge mall to do some shopping my last stop was jcpennys because thats where i usually enter and exit the mall. So as Mother's Day is coming up i wanted to see what sales were going on for woman there were many sales so i was excited to browse through the racks took me forever to find my moms size and taste so its usually not in and out when im shopping for my mom. There were a few employees who seem eager to help which was not odd but i told them i was ok i was just looking. About 45mins in i noticed i was being followed around the store where ever i went their were employees watching me to a point i couldn't even concentrate on my shopping i felt very uncomfortable so i finallt asked one if the ladies if she was following me she couldnt even look at me directly in my face just kind of shrugging the fact off that a customer was speaking to her. I had my answer shortly after that interaction. That YES i was being followed around yes they did think i was a shoplifter. I felt super offended belittled and unsafe that people were following me watching my every move. I work in the mall. I was wearing my work uniform. I was doing nothing wrong but SHOPPING IN JCPENNYS. I went to a register to ask for a general manager or gm number but the cashier said he didnt have it. So i asked him if he can please find that number for me he called a floor manager vivian instead. I explained to her what was happening but obviously she had already known since i was being watched. All she did was apologize to me for feeling uncomfortable but basically said that person works separate from jcpenny that they do their job and its up to them who they watch or follow. Which was wierd because the same lady that supposedly worked for loss prevention the one following me offered to ring me up at 1 point. I asked for corporates number took them awhile to give me the right number i didnt need the attitude either i mean i am an honest paying customer who just got out of work who was being treat with zero respect and treat like a theif.This was about 630 the time i finally left. I asked for the managers name and the lady that harassed me as i tried to shop. They were VIVIAN MELGOZA and HANNAH SHELLY. I wont be suprised if thats not their real names. This place has come along way since I was little, and for the better. They have such better clothing and brands, and now Sephora is inside of the store, which is a plus because I love Sephora. The shoes department used to always be dirty and littered with shoes, it still can get this way, but it is better. I love their boots! My favorite clothing line here is the Mango line, super cute stuff for work and going out, so come check it out. They always have great stuff on sale which is where you will find me! read more

From my complaint, I got a call from the store's general manager, OJ. He listened, was attentive, understanding, etc. and explained that he will talk to the manager I had an issue with and he also explained she's only been a manager for a month. Welp, that would explain that she didn't wait to go on lunch. As a cashier, you go when scheduled, as a manager, you're SOL. OJ was all the things you want from a store manager so I hope he can train the one I dealt with. I didn't want anything from my complaint except someone to listen to me. He did that so I will give the store another chance. I like end of the mall stores. With 2 kids, I want to get in and out. We looked truly natural and all her ideas for staging was truly lovely, she made a pregnant lady who hadn't liked the sight of herself in months look wonderful. I don't really like this particular JCPenney. It doesn't have much of a selection of clothing appropriate to my age group. They have a lot of little girl's clothes, juniors, career woman, and older women's clothes, but they seem to have missed a spot. Where's the clothes for college age women? I've bough some clothes there in emergencies because it's so cheap and I didn't have anything to wear, but then I ended up looking older. This review is of the JCPenny home decorating department. If you are looking to have someone come out to your house and give you a quote on window treatments (i.e. curtains, sheers, verticals, etc.) go somewhere else!! I hired JCP to come out to the house and give me a quote on installing custom curtains for the living room and vertical blinds for the dining room. Regarding the vertical blinds, there were several issues. First, the quality of the valence was low - especially for the price. It just looked cheap. Ask them to show you pictures of the finished product. Second, the verticals were a dark color, and the wand JCP gave me was white... "The wands only come in white" I was told. So Sonya volunteered to spray paint the wand a matching color -- how did it look? well, it looked like someone spray painted the wand - it didn't dry smoothly. Third, the verticals were not installed at the height we had agreed, so we had to have someone come back out to the house to reinstall the brackets - (more holes in the wall and more patching I had to do) and they actually used a machine to hand cut each vertical blind because the valence needed to be lowered. More hassle, more time off work for someone to be here. We paid $450 for these verticals and I feel like for that money, we shouldn't have had any of these hassles. Waste of my time and money. Regarding the curtains - this is the saddest part actually because they were not cheap, and I still need to buy the sheers and have them installed and I do NOT want to have anything ever to do with JCP again. The curtains were installed properly but the people who did the installation left without steam ironing the curtains. Note: we didn't know this, but the curtains are VERY wrinkled when they are initially installed. The workers told me they were double-booked that morning and that that was why they didn't steam iron the curtains. Great quality customer service once again - NOT! So I called and complained yet again. A guy came out to the house and actually did a good job fixing the verticals, but was not able to remove the wrinkles from the curtains. My mother in law who was here to watch said he used some kind of basic hand steamer and didn't even open the curtains while he steamed them... In other words, he filled his little hand held steamer up with water and only steamed the curtains while they ere in a closed position? You've got to be kidding me. I am so NOT happy with this experience. Bottom line: If you want quality window treatments and quality installation - do not shop and JCP. read more

Typical Jcpenny but my complaint is for the employees. While I was there the employees kept following me around as if I was shoplifting. Mind you I didn't have a purse so there was no way of shoplifting.... Not that I would have anyways but point being they had no reason to "keep an eye on me"! Had about $80 worth of clothes I put down because I was so uncomfortable. Went over to where my boyfriend was and he was getting the same vibe from other employees so we left.
