This is a nice JCPenney. It's clean and spacious. There is a nice selection of merchandise and the employees we've encountered have been friendly. There are not a lot of employees on the floor so if you need assistance you must go in the search for one, but generally a good experience. read more

My experience was limited but great! I went in specifically for a pair of sunglasses and there was a person at the front who helped direct me right away. Super pleasant interaction! I go here at least once a month to keep my JC Penny credit card active. There's always something cool on clearance and some kind of big sale going on if you use the coupon section on the app. You can get 30 to 35 percent off regular and sale priced items with the coupons. I tend to buy my daughter her clothes here. I hope this location never closes cause there isn't another JC Penney anywhere near me, the next closest one is like 40 minutes away. Best place for kids shoes and dress clothes. Also they have the best deals on jackets/coats. I like how it's conveniently in Tempe market place right in between Best Buy and Target. read more

My man and I are taking christmas photos and our color/theme is emerald green velvet. We found the perfect suit jacket and Taj from the men's department took it upon himself to give his nasty opinion about how we shouldn't get the jacket, gave us an attitude when we asked where the mirrors were, complained about how many times he's had to take the mannequin down to look at the size of the jacket displayed and just had terrible customer service overall. This is an amazing discount retailer!!!! they also have all of the new and name brand items that don't discount at all or discount seasonally, but still sell for the best price under Brick & Mortar. The staff and service couldn't be better, yes sir's and may I help you's from all directions. Cashing out was better then before and my cashier was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Great deals and styles, but the sizes are pretty limited for a department store. Not as much help as I expected while walking around. Also the checkout staff had poor customer service. No greeting as I walked up, stuttering, couldn't tell me how the points system worked, couldn't tell me the return policy. "Yeah I think it's like 60 days, 45 days, something like that." This Jcpenneys is a f'n joke. Horrible customer service. I placed an online order and went to pick it up at designated time but when I got there my order was not ready. I then went to locate the items I ordered (luckily they had them in stock), took them to the customer service desk and asked if they could complete my order since I had the items on the counter. The new girl at counter called a supervisor to come help who then told me that they couldn't do that. I would have to buy it again and then come back when my order was ready and I could return that one. She then wouldn't even price match for what I purchased on the online order. Teresa the supervisor should be nominated for most useless employee of the month because she didn't do anything to help and now I have to go back later and pick up the same item, just to return it. read more

The Jewelry department is a joke, I understand the items have to be sent out of state to be repaired. but I sent in my ring that I just got back due to a diamond coming out they should LEGIT fix it. I sent my wedding band in to get resized after waiting 6 weeks, I get my ring back and not even 2 days later a diamond comes out. after having the ring for 4 months with ZERO ISSUES! So they send it back 6 weeks later I get it back and the in the SAME spot that diamond falls out again! I have the care plan they should be fixing these issues. Done with JC Penney. I'm an older lady, grew up with JC Penney. Now the thing is online ordering to get items you want as so many items are not at the store for purchase. I pay the shipping charge to have items go to the store so that things aren't stolen while at work which is a problem now days especially in December. Bought sons fiance slippers for Christmas. The slippers were horrible, fur missing in spots and also "glued" unevenly in the back. They were defective and looked SO bad. Returned them and they kept the shipping fee even though this product should have never been sent to a consumer. I'm sorry, but I won't support or back a company that doesn't back up the merchandise they sell. Its extremely poor business practice. Bought this necklace at this location about last year in November when it broke less than a month. Had it repaired and broke again in the same spot, so I had them repair it one more time as it could have been a poor job. March 2020 rolls around, just recently picked up my necklace from the 2nd repair and it just broke AGAIN, same spot. This review is for the photo studio. We purchased a Groupon and arrived on time for our appointment. There were still 2 other groups in there: one finishing up their purchase and one still being photographed. We waited more than 30 minutes before we began our session. We were asked to bring props because of covid, which was fine if the photographer already had in mind what to do with the props, but did not. We were asked at check in if we knew what type of photos we wanted and so we showed examples of photo ideas.. This was a waste of time because she didn't have anything to do with the photo session and we had to show them again once we got into our sitting session. The photographers tried their best to replicate it but the photographer was new and inexperienced. Another photographer was in the session providing guidance. We were less than thrilled with the results. The awkwardness of this came across in our photos. Luckily there were enough acceptable photos to complete the Groupon order. When we got home we were emailed the photos and had the ability to edit them. This was much better! We opted to do that, especially since in the email we received discount codes that made the cost significantly less than the pricing at the store. Definitely recommend waiting to get home to edit the pictures the way that you want and place an order later at much lower prices. read more

Why do I always forget about this place? JC Penney's is great for stylish clothing, shoes, and home needs. This location remodeled not that long ago, which makes it better than some of the other JCPs out there. You can actually find what your looking for easily with everything being so neat and clean. Also, they have a sephora in the middle of the store! Bonus points!! I came in looking for a new job interview outfit and JCPs certainly delivered with style and price. Terrible experience with one your Sephora employees today. She refused to return two of my items because, "more than a drop was missing." This is not Sephora policy. I went the the one on camelback and they immediately apologized and refunded me for the remaining products. This review is for the photo studio inside J.C. Penney, not the store itself. I bought a groupon and scheduled a photo appointment online and received an email confirming my time. When I came for the appointment, there was no one there. At all. I eventually tracked down some regular employees who tried to contact the photo center people to no avail (and apparently this isn't the first time this has happened). After a long time waiting, we gave up and went home. After a lot of phone tag I was able to reschedule. When I went to my appointment, it was a 15 minute wait until they were ready. I was really disappointed with the whole process. The J.C. Penney manager was nice and the person who actually took the photos of my kids was very nice and did a good job, but it was still very frustrating overall. read more

I grew up shopping at JCPenney's and I just can't stop shopping here now that I'm an adult. Yes, a lot has changed at JCP over the past few years, but they still have decent clothing as great prices. I came here specifically looking for a white button down blouse and was not disappointed. Since I can't help but browse, I also found some awesome boots on sale. The employees who assisted me were helpful, despite being swamped with other customers. This location is nice as it is very large and kept rather clean and organized. I can easily navigate between departments and find what I need. Also, the parking is plentiful since it is at Temple Marketplace. Overall, I like coming here and will definitely be back. read more

If I could give this JCPenney's no stars I would. Save your time and go to a different JCPenney location. My necklace has been in repair for months now. When I called they said they couldn't repair it and will give me a refund they just need to do paperwork for it and will call me back. Haven't heard back it's been over a week. I try to call at least once everyday and the phone just rings and rings and nobody ever picks up. This is my second repair on the same chain from JCPenney. Save your money and go to a different jeweler as well. read more

I visited the JCPenney Salon on a recommendation from a friend, and was very pleased with the service, cut and price. I was a little apprehensive about going into a department store for a haircut, but the staff was professional and the prices were excellent. But the most positive aspect of my visit was how accommodating they were. If you're a hijabi this location can accommodate your request for privacy. I asked the woman on the phone and she was able to arrange it with my stylist. My stylist was extremely nice and didn't seem to mind cutting my hair in the waxing room. She also did a fantastic job of fixing my hair after a bad haircut I got elsewhere. They also sent me home with a few coupons for my next visit. I plan on going here again! read more

So this review is about the portrait studio inside, I didn't really shop around (reason will be explained in a minute) but it looked clean and well put together so yay for that. So I called JCPenny Portrait Studios a couple days ago to see if they would allow me to take my dog Roscoe to the studio to get our picture taken together. These pictures were very important to me because he is turning 12 in December and our time is limited if you know what I mean. Anyways so I called them on Saturday and they scheduled me an appointment on Monday (tonight) night which was super quick for such late noticed. So there I went, I walked my 60lb dog all the way through JCPenny (because the portrait studio was in the back) and not one employee was a brat about it. They all greeted him warmly and pointed me in the right direction. The woman who took our picture was named Erica and she was amazing. So patient with Roscoe and had some great ideas. The pictures came out absolutely fabulous and I am SO excited to get my prints. I was on a budget and she didn't push me to buy a ton at all, it was pressure free. I wanted a CD but it was so expensive she even showed me a cheaper alternative, ($10 to put them online for 2 years) instead of trying to convince me to buy a CD. The prices are ridiculously reasonable. Regular prints cost $4/sheet and special effects prints start at $10. Really, you can't beat prints at $4/sheet... All in all I am very impressed and so excited for these prints (I'll put pictures up when they go online!) One tip: Don't go in without a coupon...go online to their website jcpportraits and print them out! I got a coupon for one free sitting (a sitting is $9/person so since there was two of us it only cost $9) along with a two pose package which included 1 8X10, 2 5X7's and eight wallets. I'm unbelievably furious with the Salon here! I use to go here a lot until they kept messing up my appointments. So I stopped going and became then I became pregnant- I refused to color my hair while carrying. In April, a month after my daughter was born I made an appointment with JcP Salon but over at the Ahwatukee location as I didn't want to deal with the Tempe Marketplace location that I experience prior to being pregnant. Well that location ended up getting hair dye on my wool sweater and of course I will NEVER return to that salon ever again. Well now I need my roots touched up and decided to give Tempe Marketplace another try as the only issue I had with them is scheduling. Made an appointment for 4pm today. I get a call at 1:30 this afternoon from the salon stating the girl (Genie- however you spell her name) is running late and needs to push me back to 4:45. I explained to the girl on the phone who was Stephanie that I have a 8month old of whom I breastfeed which means that time is a BIG strict and sensitive issue. So I can manage pushing it back but I need to be seen at that time. She assured me NO WORRIES!!! I get there at my scheduled time and the girl tells me it will be 15 minutes as the girl(Genie) is blow drying the customers hair.... you have to be kidding me- did I not have this discussion and explain my concerns earlier?! I walk around and do some browsing and purchasing to come back 15 minutes later per their orders. This person is STILL blow drying and it appears she just recently started. This means that it will take another 15 to finish drying that customers hair... another 5 minutes to check them out and probably another 5 or 10 to clean up and prepare for me. Why would you schedule me for a time that you can't commit to? Why would you call and reschedule me for another time that you can't commit to? WHY would you flat out LIE to me and smile about it saying sorry to my face!! This is rude! It's unprofessional! It's shitty customer service! That bullshit smile and bullshit apology needs to be shoved where the sun don't shine! Went here to get a haircut, Melissa was as my stylist. Man, she has major RBF and not very friendly at all. She doesn't interact with you. It really makes the haircut feel uncomfortable. Super awkward too. I could tell that she didn't feel comfortable with the haircut she provided me and doesn't enjoy her job at all.
