This is a review of JCPenney's Corporate office. On the website, I wrote a negative review about a Levi's shirt I'd ordered online. It was unnaturally small with tight arms. I'm very slender and the fit of the shirt was clearly wrong. I wrote a review describing how the size wasn't accurate and said Levi's needed to work on quality control in their China operations. The review was rejected which surprised me. I wrote a second review, removing the reference to China; it was rejected also. My review simply stated the negatives of the shirt. If you check other Yelp reviews of JCPenney in other parts of the U.S., my experience is not uncommon with JCPenney rejecting negative reviews of products. No wonder they're having serious financial problems -- what the customer thinks really doesn't matter to JCPenney. read more

As JCP goes this one is a little on the small side, but the customer service is great. We got in line to buy some home items and the customer at the register had a receipt that was missing the purchase date which meant it was going to take awhile. (Am I the only one who specifically does my complicated returns on slow weekdays to not annoy other customers?) Rather than just let us sit it out (it was only us in line). The hair salon told me it would be 10$ to straighten my hair. I made an appointment for 12:45 with Zahra and I wasn't called back until 1:25. I sat in the chair for approximately 3 minutes and she told me it would be 45$ instead of 10$. Needless to say, I told her never mind and left the salon. They told me a price just to get me into the salon and then changed it immediately. I won't be going back here. read more

Unlike Target & Walmart, JCP is a genuine, old-school department store where you can find specialized help in a wide variety of areas, from appliances, furniture, clothing and accessories. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and they only carry high-quality name-brand products. They're also conveniently located at the Mall on Hillcrest, so you can easily shop and compare at other stores as well. Their prices are highly competitive with other department stores. Well, its been a VERY long time since I've been to JC Penny and it will be a VERY long time before I venture into any of their stores again. Cheap crap. Not well-stocked. Inattentive service. The people we asked where things were would point, "down that way and to the right ..." Like the yellow-brick road lay before us and onward we would go to find the product in-question. The checker was that lovely mixture of sour and bitter, I couldn't understand a word she said to me and I just wanted to get out of this store the entire time I was there. Ew. read more

I love love love Jcpenny. First because it is so convenient with shopping for everything in one store without having inside the mall! They have Disney collection so a TON of disney clothes, toys (it really feels like the disney store!) , they have the cutest disney toddler clothes and even non disney clothing and the best part is they are always having sales! I also love that they have a Sephora of course inside the store and I love they have the photo department for photos of your little one! Im so glad this place is open and hope that it does not close down in future! read more

They didn't have the patio furniture we saw online in the store so they helped us order it at customer service and got us an even bigger discount! Furniture came a few days later and we picked it up at the store. It is very good quality and all I was hoping it would be considering I only saw it online before purchasing. One of my favorite stores in the mall. The place has great prices and I haven't had bad service here. Workers are very friendly. Last time, a worker approached me and asked me if I was looking for anything in particular and could be of service. I thought that only happened at Neiman Marcus and in the now gone department stores of the past. Found that pleasing. Also, unlike Macy's, Pennys doesn't fight you when returning things. The store is a decent size and not overwhelming like some Dept Stores. Has everything I need, but not in a sensory overload way, but in a relaxed nice sized space. Also, their hair salon is pretty good. I do hope that this JC Penney stays afloat, as I love shopping at it. read more

Jcpenny has almost everything you need. Good sale prices on their hair care products in the salon and a great optometrist Dr. Kubo. You can even have your family portraits done there. I called their toll free number for their decorating department to make an appointment for an estimate for three window treatments. The appointment was made with the local decorator (Tracy) located in the Thousand Oaks store. A few days before my appointment I get a call from Farrah who tells me my appointment has been reassigned to her and that she is located in the Northridge Fashion Center store. I describe the window treatments we are looking for and she gives me a quote right over the phone. How do you do that over the phone without knowing the size and specific materials we want to use. On top of that her quote was double that what I got from my local Budget Blinds retailer who came out measured and based the quote on materials we chose from the sample books he brought. read more

I really want to give this company 0 stars but I can't. Diana Morgan likes to discriminate against people for hire. If you know someone or are related to someone that use to work that she did not get a long with she will not even give you the time of day. I learned this the hard way. I applied for a spot in the store and I am very qualified probably even over qualified and due to my family relations with an associate that is no longer there she wouldn't even return my phone calls, and even told a rep in the store that she is not going to hire someone that was related to an ex employee. If you are going to hire managers that would act that way I am happy that I never got a call back. I hope whoever is in charge of the company reads this and takes action Diana Morgan should not be a manager with this company anymore for discrimination. read more

Well my purchase itself took about an hour or close to an hour (not even exaggerating). I'm not sure if the sales associate was new or didn't know what she was doing but it was long...and then my husband and I were told we would have our mattress (what we bought for this particular transaction) we were in the store that...Friday or Saturday so within a few days no big deal...I had to have them call my cell even though my husband paid..I don't know what happened but they called my husband (who isn't always in the area since he's military) and they didn't deliver as promised...and then I was told it wouldn't be delivered until two weeks later...oh and on top of it I'm an ASSOCIATE at another JCP!!!!!! I went there because we don't have mattresses....if this is how they treat associates I don't wanna know how they treat actual customers!!!!!! Pissed off is an understatement! I have never been so annoyed at a salon before. I went in asking for some layers to make my long hair more full looking, give it some body, and life. The place was basically empty and I had a bad feeling already. I went with it and was given my stylist. First of all she was socially awkward as hell. I told her what I wanted and she was confused. So I asked to see books so I could show her an example. She gets the books and sets them on the table and then immediately goes to grab the apron for me. She legit didn't let me look at the books, and she goes "I have an idea of what to do". Alright. Whatever. It's just layers so I was like ok. Then she said not one word to me as she's brushing my hair. My hair was completely brushed out and she's putting it into sections so quickly that the comb gets stuck in my hair knotting it up bad and then RAKES the comb through my hair pulling my scalp straight off my damn head. First of all, ASK ME IF I'M TENDER HEADED. Secondly, TRY TO BE A LITTLE GENTLE? I'm no rag doll! You'd think that my wines and clearly audible wincing would be enough to ask me if she was hurting me? Nope. I stopped her and said I'd changed my mind. She literally said after that, "I think you need the layers". Girl someone with basic human skills and experience in your job will get my money. I have never gotten out of a seat faster in my life. Do yourself a favor and if you're going to pay out the ass for a cut, go to a real salon! They suck here, no bull. With the exception of their representatives who work fine jewelry..The service and staff here are AWFUL!!..On one occasion I purchased some clothes and the clerk was unnecessarily unfriendly and rude..She acted as if it was such a chore to ring up my order-she had such an attitude and said Here! When she handed me my purchase -No Thank you ..I wasn't anything but nice so I don't understand her rude behavior and attitude..I mean if u hate ur job so much -You shouldn't be there..And if your there ..a big part of your job is good customer service - So even if u don't feel it..You fake it !!... it's your job to represent the company that pays your bills ..In the best possible way...One another occasion ..I ordered something online - with store pick up..They NEVER called me to pick up..I had to call the customer service..In the interim..Of waiting for my purchase-I had to go to this store and just buy the bracelet again at a higher price since It was a gift n I had expected the first order to arrive in time since it said it was in stock at this store for pick up when I checked out..So Last night I go to get a refund for the bracelet they have from my first order that I no longer need..The fine jewelry clerk was sooo nice - Just Awesome!!..But..She didn't know his to return the online order to return the money to my account ..She called the supervisor on duty 4 times over the PA system..4 TIMES!!..She called..we waited..She called ..we waited...Etc..She felt so bad that I had been waiting so long she'd ended up calling her other supervisor At Home!!..To take care of my transaction...So she does my transaction to return my money to my bank...I find out this morning that they DID NOT credit me the 60.32..They CHARGED ME the 60.32!!!..Not the clerks fault !!..Shd was lovely!!.Its the fault of her Supervisor who Never showed up - didn't even bother to call to let her know why she was not coming etc..So I call Jc Penneys to get them to fix this..Waited on the phone for over 10 min..Had to hang up..Called back later..waited again over 10 min..Finally a representative answered..And just like the one I had called when I hadn't heard anything about my online order..He was awful!!..Mumbled his name - had to have him say it twice more..He acted just like the other rep as if he was reading off a card and couldn't care less!!..Was told they would send me a check in 7-10 days..I asked for a number to call and complain about their all around horrible service..He said the only number was the one I called...But the calls were recorded so " they would know"..Such bullshit!!..Well ..This long time customer will shop at Kohls and Macy's online and in person from now on!!..I'm done dealing with a company who obviously doesn't care who they hire to represent them and couldn't care less about Customer Service..Something tells me that with absolutely HORRIBLE All around Service like this..Their going to be closing more stores!!..and lose their online customers to their competitors who know what good customer service actually is!!! read more

I came to the sephora in this jc penney with a friend. She was showing me how to do makeup and what I should use. We ended up getting scolded at by rude employees. A girl that worked in the sephora made a rude comment about my friend's eyebrows. Later we noticed fraud protection was walking around us like a hawk.. it's a taller white guy with light brown hair.. just FYI. He was carrying a sephora bag around the sephora trying to pretend to be a shopper.. let's be honest. After you buy something you leave, not carry around the bag of the store... were not idiots. Anyway, eventually the store manager told us there was a problem with us trying on products... even though sephora specifically puts out samples so you can try them before you buy. Eventually the store manager admitted she didn't even know the sample policy of sephora. She was very rude. I will never come back to this store. I have never stolen anything in my life and it was awful being harassed like that, especially by the store manager. I hope this place goes out of business. read more

We get all of my son's milestone photos here. Correction: GOT. I am SO DONE with this place! The main photographer (Manager) is incredibly unprofessional. We had an appointment for 9:20. We got there 10 minutes early. Apparently she didn't see our appointment listed and told her friend she could come in at 9:20. She took her friend before us. We didn't get seen until 10, 40 minutes late!!! Then, she blamed my son's antsiness and grumpiness on "Terrible twos"... No, it's the fact that he's been waiting 40 minutes in the most boring place ever!!! Then, she threw a toy at him to get him to smile... Didn't work, she scared the crap out of him and he burst into tears. Also, while we were in the room, the other photographer came to ask her a question and she totally bad mouthed the clients before us! We have had to get reshoots in the past because of sloppy, wrinkled backgrounds and no attention to detail. I understand that this is just Penney's, not a professional photographer, but get your damn act together, you know??! read more

Horrible experience with store clerk. We just purchased an item and she incorrectly typed in the price. 2 minutes later while still standing at the register we caught the discrepancy and she would not help us to adjust it. She told us we had to go back at the end of the line!!! What kind of crappy customer service is that?! She made the mistake, and we didn't even walk away yet. So disappointed. Ordered an Item online and chose to have it shipped to store. Here we are a full 7 business days (10 days from the original order date) and no one can tell me where it is, or how it is getting to the store. It might come via UPS... It might come via truck... no body knows!! When will it be there.. again, no body knows. Try to cancel the mystery delivery, nope, can't do that either. Wouldn't recommend this store to anyone. Nothing against their sales/promotions/etc., but I was severely disappointed by the service I experienced in the home section today. Upon entering the store, despite the amount of employees near the entrance, I was not acknowledged at all. As soon as I walked into the home section I was greeted by an employee arguing with a customer which went on for a while as I browsed. After looking at some pans that were on sale I asked if I could use a 15% off home sale and clearance item coupon from my phone and she said no it's probably only going to be10% off (fun fact: the 15% off coupon worked). She next helped a customer who was picking something up and I waited to checkout and watched him get annoyed with her during the few short minutes of their interaction. When I went to checkout I found out that the item I was purchasing was not priced as the sign indicated because the sale apparently ended yesterday even though it was almost the end of the day and the sign was still out. She then gave gave me sass about not being able to scan the coupon from my phone which would have been fine had she not given me so much attitude. I don't think she was polite or pleasant to anyone during the time I was there. I don't care if one customer gave you you a hard time or all of them did, that doesn't excuse being rude to the next person you help. I'd honestly rather pay for shipping online than deal with employees like that. read more

Beware if you order online and return to the store. Check to make certain you received a FULL refund. For some odd reason tax calculated online is higher than what is calculated in the store. To quote the sales clerk, "it's only a penny." I did not appreciate her attitude and a penny for every customer who returns items certainly adds up over the years. Been here quite a few times with no issues to speak of. At times the shoe department does not have the typical size shoe that I desire but that can happen anywhere. The last time I went to the hair salon to inquire about a hair item, two of their staff came to provide relevant details on which product would be best. The HBIC and her two assistants were so pleasant and efficient I will ALWAYS utilize them for our families professional photography needs. I used to shop at Penney's all the time - a few years ago. Today, it is a different world in every way. The inconvenience of only having checkout registers on one side of the store is terrible. NO other retail store ignores comfort and time constraints on its customers as this does Penney's now. Also, the merchandise is disgustingly poor compared to what it used to carry. I'm a woman of 128 pounds and used to love your tops and other womanly things. I've been in your store for the last time as long as these conditions exist. This review is in reference to online furniture order. I ordered a living room full of furniture on Nov, 9, 2015 and for one reason or another, it would never get delivered. The delivery would be scheduled, then they would call, the night before delivery, and cancel my delivery, always with a different excuse. My family and I went through the holidays WITH NO LIVING ROOM FURNITURE!!! They rescheduled delivery for Dec 29 at 11:00 am. On Dec 29 at 10:50am,they called to cancel the delivery again because an ottoman slip cover was "soiled". I told them to deliver it anyway. I was put on hold then told that Timothy in furniture had said to deny me my entire order. A few hours later, Timothy called me to let me know that they didn't even have my entire order. He recommended that I cancel my order. I did and asked to be refunded in full. He said he would do it himself. I had to call back THREE TIMES and in still waiting for my entire refund! Every time I call, I'm ensured by the representative that they credited my acct. Its been a huge headache and I still have no furniture or my money back. Do yourself a favor and don't order furniture from JCPennys or use the delivery service from the company MXD Delivery. They've been horrible and very unprofessional. I want to give them a zero star rating but I have to choose at least 1 star :/ read more
