For order pickups, they moved it to the first floor by shoes. They have 2 lines but only one person. So they make you wait in the returns line. This is not the case at Kohl's - order pickups there get a special line also and people picking up orders get priority. That's how it should be everywhere. JCPenny needs to fix this. Once upon a time, JCPenny was able to accept apple pay, and system did not decline it, now, I don't know when their system declines apple pay? Management needs to fix their system and have their machine not decline any apple pay transaction. Savings great, but not their payment option, if their system is down for apple pay, they should, customers needs to be informed about their technical problems. read more

DO NOT GO TO PORTRAIT STUDIO. Huge waste of my time. Made an 11:30 appointment, showed up on time and didn't get called back until 12:35. Had my two kiddos with me, one being a toddler and the other an infant. That kind of wait is unacceptable. I get it if you're in a doctor's office and they make you wait an hour due to some unforeseen emergency. This is a portrait studio. There are no emergenices. It's a predictable schedule. We ended out trying to get our pics done, but by then my kids weren't having it probably because the long wait and we were nearing nap time. We had to leave empty handed. Here's a piece of advice, JC Penny. If you're going to make your customers wait that long, keep thfeeem updated. When they arrive, warn them ahead of time that the studio is running behind and there is an hour wait. In fact, they did the opposite by saying we were up soon, but I didn't realize soon to them is 30 more minutes. It's probably not the fault of the people who were actually working there. I'm sure they got pressure to overbook clients, so JC Penny can profit as much as possible. Such a shame. The people working there clearly can't handle it. Never going back. read more

This review is for the HAIR SALON only. Even though I do love the Sephora inside the JCP. :) HAIR COLOR! its so difficult to find someone to do my HIGHLIGHTS and not to leave my hair looking red-ish. I have dark brown hair and like carmel color or blonde highlights. I've gone to many fancy hair salons and have paid a forturne only for my hair to look red. Bo is amazing at color. She did my roots and added some low lights and dimension... and my hair looks amazing. I love the color. I've finally found MY stylist. She is a hidden gem at the Del Amo Mall inside the salon at JC Penny. read more

Came here the other day to do a couple online returns that didn't work and waited in a long line for a couple minutes. They really should get more employees or train them??? I saw a couple employees walking talking amongst themselves but not helping. However the girl who helped me was very sweet and extremely patient. Made the whole process quick and easy. I had to go to three stores to look for swim trunk for my 12 year old, because he's in between teenage and adult size, it's difficult to find clothes and shoes for him. Sometimes it's difficult to find an employee roaming the floors. Sometimes I have to go and search for them. I hate asking for help when the employees are attending customers at the register that's why I go and looks for some but it's hard to find them. I do like that they're multiple fitting rooms which it is helpful. read more

This location is better than most. The staff is always nice and helpful, especially the associates at Sephora. Love their shoe section because you can find really cute shoes and they always seem to have every size. Clothes are well organized, and the fitting rooms are never too busy. Best time to come is during mornings. read more

I usually buy Macy's but decided to give jc penny a try and I ordered some perfume make up and juniors tops one of the make up came broken up I called JC penny and unlike Macy's I was told I had to return it to get credit or get it replaced the junior tops I purchased 2 came in little girl size on the phone I was told I could take to store and get it taken care of in store made me refund it rebuy online all of this trouble and they never even attempt to compensate me for loss of time or the bad service from jcp.com at Macy's I've had issues they take care of you right away even when I didn't receive an item they replaced it and gave a discount for the trouble guess next year its back to Macy's should have stayed where I was sure of the service read more

I visited JC with my mother to find an outfit for a job interview. They seemed buy a minute ago, but I was able to find what I needed. They were in great condition and the same went for the dress pants I bought. Everyone was really helpful and we left with exactly what we needed. The staff were really nice. I haven't shopped at JCP in years but I have to say that they have really upped themselves with the style of clothing in their stores. I went into this JCP to have watch batteries replaced in my good dress watches. While they were doing that at the watch counter, they said 15-20 minutes so I wandered. Large selection of Petite clothing and ones that do not look old lady-ish as many Petites styles do. Name brands too, Worthington, Champion, St. John's Bay. The juniors section amazingly looked like 1986. Somehow I think there might be a lot of this inventory left at the end of the season. There is a Sephora in this store with a good selection, not skimpy. Upstairs is a portrait studio and a hair salon. I did not know JCP still had salons in them. Flash back to my childhood. Downstairs is housewares and bedding. Overall I was pretty impressed and had purchased about $75 of clothing before I walked back to the watch counter. I am hoping the quality lives up to the style. The service at the jewelry and watch counter was fantastic. The service at the general checkout was so-so. Just like they had better things to do, which they probably did, but unfortunately they were stuck checking customer's purchases for a few hours in the evening. read more

They act like you're bothering them by asking to look at something. My husband comes here a lot to buy his dress botton up shirts. We had a wedding the next day to attend and of course we waited til the last minute to go buy a shirt. My husband has a wide muscular back and long arms, so his comfortable fit is 18 1/2 on the neck and 36/37 on the sleeves. After 20 mins of search for his size we found three shirts in pink, yellow and purple. Not the colors we wanted. We ask the cashier for help but wasn't much of a help. He scanned the shirt through the computer and looked up what they had in stock, nothing in my husbands size. Oh really? But we just found three shirts in his size!??!. All I wanted was a little help searching, since it took a little digging to the find the ones we found. Walked over to Sears, which didn't look so promising but to our surprise, we received the help we were looking for and found the right shirt. Problem solved. read more

Prices here are decent. I like to come here for their large choice in shoes. Lots of converse to choose from and thats my favorite brand. Came with my elderly mother and we were dissapointed there were not little carts for her to hold onto and put our things in while we shopped. They only had bags? to carry around which is dumb. No one wants to carry things while you shop. We also got talked into staying for haircuts by Kiana and she was awesome. I like how you can walk out with a new outfit and a new haircut. They just really need little carts, especially for handicapped people who cant carry much. read more

So, after seeing the numerous, annoying Ellen commercials during the Oscars, I decided to come in because I liked their concept of not having special sales. Also, as a teacher, I love shopping for clothes here because they have cute, yet affordable clothing. Before, the usual brand that I get, East5th, ran around $30-40 regular price for a nice top. I'd used to wait for sales or the extra coupons during the weekends. Today with the new Ellen pricing, most were $12-18 and that's everyday pricing. I love it. Now, I can come in whenever I want, without waiting for a sale, and fighting with the weekend crowds. I love the fact that they have special mark downs for overstock on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month, so I may have to come in on those days. As always, JC Penny is more organized, better run, and much cleaner than the other department stores, even better than Macy's. The Ellen commercials are still annoying as heck though. read more

This review is for the men's formal wear section. El hubby and I were shopping for dress shirts, and the lovely sales men who were working that day were very nice and helpful. They even encouraged him to try on the shirts and not worry about destroying the package thingy. You know, those cardboard and plastic with needles and sh*t that holds the shirt together and makes it looks nice on the table. It must be a pain to put them back together but they didn't seem to mind. El hubby wished they had more selection of slim fit in his size though. Most of the shirts were regular fit. We ended up buying 2 shirts and a pack of socks and even got a $10 off discount for reaching $50 and over! Cool! Oh and the day we went, I we met Laurence Martin from the reality show Baggage Battles on Travel Channel. You probably don't care, but I do. I love that show lol. read more

So they have those new ads saying that JCPenny would no longer have those gimmicky ads or early bird sales and what not. Since I was out looking for a bday gift for my dad I thought I'd give JCP a whirl. They had a sign explaining the three different price tags and what they meant, one was for everyday price, another for what was on sale for that month and the third was for clothes that are marked on sale every Friday, and it only while supplies lasted. I thought that was pretty straightforward and it was like, hey thanks JCP, no sales tomfoolery from you! I found a nice shirt, shorts and set of pj's for my dad for like 50 bucks, and was pretty pleased. The store was clean and pretty organized (albeit it was on a weekday at like 3:00 pm), and I like that they have a small Sephora store inside. I don't shop there for myself, but for I'd definitely come back, for mom and dad gifts. read more

Jc Penny's has updated their look. Wow! I found some nice separates and a short pants jumpsuit. Pretty hot. The store was bright and big with a Sephora in the middle. Yes, that was the next stop. The lady at checkout register was nice Of course she offer a credit card. I said noooo. Lol. She was just doing her job. I will return for some more separates. The shoe department was OK. I have found some nice shoes at Pennie's before but later own the baby toe starts to hurt. So no way to the Worthington shoes. read more

I like this jcpenny better than the one in Carson mall it always seems to be a bit more organized especially in the kids section. I went in to exchange some shirts for my niece and left with most of their clearance section. Everything in the clearance section was no more than $5. I am so disappointed in the Torrance JCPenney's. Within this past year it has gone downhill really fast. The store is disorganize, extremely messy and the shoe department had No displays, boxes were everywhere and they have removed the cash register. Such a mess!!! They have removed all but 2 check out areas, which took 23 minutes to get through. They had better step it up or they will be out of business real fast. read more

I typically don't shop at JCPenney because I'm not really a high end department store shopper. But I found myself here with family because my niece just had photos taken upstairs and we wanted to do a couple things. First, pick up her developed photos, and to buy a princess dress similar to the one she tried on/ fell in love with, during her photo shoot. We went straight for the kids section which is located down stair and on our way there we stopped by the dog toy section. I have to admit, I wouldn't consider buying dog toys at a place that doesn't specialize in animal products but the toys looked so darn cute and they were reasonably priced. It was a 5 piece set for $10. We couldn't say no to that. Moving on to the children's play dresses. Let me just fast forward and say after shopping around my niece found the yellow Bella dress she wanted, she tried it on and she was sold. To our surprise, the dress that retailed for $30 was on sale for $15. What a nice surprise! On a side note, I did see a lot of signage of a deal that said: "Buy one, get the other for 1 cent". I almost did a bit of shopping myself haha. Overall, for someone that doesn't typically shop at JCPenny, I had a very good experience. read more

PORTRAIT STUDIO TEN STARS! My husband and I came today for wedding announcement pictures made an appointment for 11:30 am. We arrived about 10 minutes early sat down, while both ladies were busy with other customers and as soon as one was free, she came over and said hello to us and checked us in. 11:30 photographer, Julia was ready for us, she was so friendly, professional, she customized signs ex: wedding date for our pictures, she didn't rush at all even though there were other customers waiting, she was on schedule and it seems each photo session is 15 minutes and that is exactly how long she took with us. Then we waited about 10 minutes for our pictures to upload and then Sevina showed us our pictures, showed us different collages, backgrounds we can pick and even did black/white pictures. No pressure at all to buy packages or upgrade coupons. She was also very helpful and friendly :) :) This our 3rd time at this studio and we always have a pleasant experience but this time was even more pleasant thanks to Julia and Sevina. read more

I was pretty excited about my "flirt duo lashes & glue" $8 purchase until .... i got to the glue, aside from being a sticky mess it was also clumpy and never seemed to dry clear as advertised. The lashes are fragile so getting more than 1 use out of them is going to be nearly impossible. **Still on a search for better glue** read more

This review is for the photo studio. It was our first time taking any "professional" family photos and our 8 month old's first Christmas so I wanted to do something special and take Christmas photos. Upon arrival we checked in and they told us to pick our backgrounds. I told them we wanted Christmas photos so they gave us 1 backdrop option for that and the other was a plain wooden backdrop. As we waited for our turn I went to the dressing room to check my makeup & when I came out daddy & baby were already inside the photo room. As soon I entered the room one of the two girls directed me to stand on the red dot on the floor and started snapping away. I was caught off guard. The girls don't give any direction whatsoever on how to pose or add any creative or aesthetic input into the shoot. We just stood there. I had to step in and give ideas on how to pose, props to use for my baby (which are useless). They had a small wooden slowflake which was not noticeable and an ugly black present with no bow. The photos came out terrible, we look awkward & uncomfortable and the floor is visibly dirty. The photographer (Amy) and other employee in the photo room need to give direction to people especially when they aren't used to having photos taken of them. Not just tell them to stand on the red dot. These are supposed to be special moments for families and if you don't know how to capture that then please find another job. They charge a $15 sitting fee per person including the baby. By the end I was told our Christmas photos wouldn't be ready until after New Years & if we wanted them we should've booked before Dec 20th. How about telling customers that beforehand? That would be nice and considerate. Do not waste your precious time or money here. read more

Outrages rude, racist and unprofessional My family had appointment for 2:40pm for sitting sesion. We arrived about 2:43pm and it was crowded inside the studio. There is no clear sign where to check-in and no employee was available to ask where to check-in. After a few minutes,when the person behind us cut the line and asked the busy customer service, they told us the line began somewhere inside the store. By the time we got to check-in, the time was 2:53pm. THe lady, her name is Nicole, checked us in and write up the session info and told us they were behind schedule. We asked how long we should wait, and she informed us that they were 7 customer in front of us. So we waited. One hour later, after 5 customer has been served, we check-in again with her and she told us we have to wait for another 5 more customers in front of us. I asked to explain why we have to wait so long when clearly she had told us differently in the beginning. We should only have 2 more customers in front of us, not 5-6. The different is 10 minutes more vs 1 hour more. She said that because we were late, so they have to push our appointment to the later time, until another customer late or no show. I asked her to be specific, when exactly we can be served, she said she does not know, or we could wait until the closing time which is 5PM. That is 3 hours of waiting with 2 years old child is impossible and ridiculous. This is ridiculous explanation and outrages customer service. Not informing customer up front about waiting time was one mistake, making customer waiting indefinitely is another big mistake. I asked I want to see our order paper to verify what was written on it. Outrageously I learnt that on the paper, it was written "Call when next A". but they never called us. They kept pushing our appointment time and being rude. The customer service, Nicole was so rude and said I am not supposed to see my order paper. I informed her this is my information and I have every rights to see what was written. She became belligerent and rude, with raised voice in front of other customers she told me I can have my information but I cannot touch the clipboard where the paper was clipped on. I was stunned and felt being treat rude and so unprofessional. These practices of JCPenny Portraits is an embarrassment to the JCPenny company overall. Not informing customer where their appointment was being scrutinized and rude treatment from your staff definitely leave bad memory to me and my family. We will never go back to JC Penny ever again. This kind of practice will NOT be tolerated. Raising voice to customer is totally unacceptable, being childish about clipboard as if I was going to steal the clipboard was insult to injury. I will tell all my friends and family to never go use JCPenny Portrait again. read more
