The atmosphere is great! The food is ok nothing special. Waitress was nice. Now the bus boy was awesome in assisting and getting things done!! Only thing we did notice is that people don't wear mask and they have indoor seating. With the covid numbers rising this was very uncomfortable! We ended up taking food to go. There was children there under age 7 so it was abit loud with the crying and extra noise. As we waited we did have a drink or two. First couple drinks great then it was more ice that whiskey. Really watered down. The food teriyaki-steak was a steak with a cup on teriyaki sauce and then they said they ran out of asparagus but the veggies came with some asparagus... confusing! Happened upon this place after the farmers market on Saturday and I can guarantee you I will never be going back. The service was awful, the food was more awful still , and the bathroom was absolutely disgusting. There was old crusty contact lenses sitting on the sink, the underside of their toilet seat was literally green from not being cleaned. I took my son to a cafe nearby to use the bathroom. They have a sign on the door that says everyone needs to wear a mask, but when you walk inside absolutely no one, not even the staff, is wearing a mask. read more

This was our first time here and of all times it was the first day of the Lemon Festival. We wanted something to eat but also wanted a cocktail and wasn't expecting great food...but we found awesome food! It was packed beyond capacity but our server Mary gave us great service and we got our food really quickly. I wanted to help out a small business doing this difficult time. I showed up and found the outside seating area empty. I went to the door to ask if they were doing outside dining and the door was locked. Just then a couple came out of the bar with no masks on and I could see there were plenty of people inside. The couple started laughing at me and making fun of me for wearing a mask. These idiots are ruining it for so many other businesses. I will never go back here. Have been to JD Allison's in down town Upland a couple of times. It is a small and quaint sports type bar and is nice but I am torn about this place. We usually go to Taco Tuesdays and have a really good time. Their tacos are fantastic! Carne asada, chicken or ground beef and very generous with the meat. For $1.25, these are more than a bargain and delicious to boot! My issues with JD Allison's is with their service. Most Taco Tuesdays are not really very busy, but the service is soooo painfully slow that it is hard to get anything from another glass of water to another beer or Margarita. And, it is not like the wait staff is exceptionally friendly to the customers either. Their beer selection is a bit on the limited side unless you like domestic beers (I don't!) and they are very skimpy on the tequila for the Margaritas. Not wholly sure there was even any in my drinks! This place is okay but not high on my list of places to visit on a regular basis, but their tacos are soooo good! Or, at least until I find some place that has better tacos for $1.25, better service and a better drink selection. read more

On the evening of August 17th, went to go dine in Downtown Upland in the temporary outdoor seating. My friend and I thought we'd try JD Allison's. Arrived and saw that their tent in the parking lot was empty and tables and chairs were stacked together and not set up for dining. Saw someone who was maskless walk out of the restaurant. So, we opened the door to see if they were actually open for dining outside ... the place was PACKED. No masks. No social distancing. No safety protocols being followed at all. We turned right around and walked out. How irresponsible. If they've received any special funding or permit status from the city of Upland to be able to have outdoor operations, it should be stripped because they're not following guidelines. Really hope the Health Dept. gets involved. They should be closed and fined until they can get with the program. read more

They have INSIDE dining, even though this is against the statewide mandate which only allows outside dining! In addition, the employees are not wearing masks, there is zero social distancing, and no requirement for customers to wear masks. Places like JD Allisons are contributing to the spread of the virus with their negligence and lack of compliance with state law. They should be fined or shut down because of this behavior. read more

Like many other reviewers here, my GF and I came in because this is one of the few places "open" during Covid. Since our first visit, we have been back 5 times in just a couple weeks. The vibe is chill and the patrons friendly, the drinks are good, and even the food has been enjoyable when we've ordered. This restaurant is amazing. We found one day after doing some antique shopping in Upland. We didn't expect anything. It's a small sportsbar on the corner with indoor and outdoor seating. The food! The food was fantastic! I love the Brie and fruit platter. The melted Brie is too die for. The fruit was so fresh and tasty and the baguettes were perfect to dunk in that heavenly cheese. My husband has tried 2 different sandwiches there and they never disappoint. All fresh and wonderful. The service is outstanding. As hard as they work they always smile and cater to you. No one was wearing a mask not even the workers. 2 obnoxious drunk guys who should of been cut off like 10 beers ago! And it was 11am!!! My wife and I went here because the downtown area looked inviting. We were impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the fun atmosphere. The serving staff were very efficient and rotated around the room doing whatever was necessary to keep patrons served. We had a turkey dinner and a sausage sandwich. Just had lunch at JD Allison's Bar & Grill. I ate here once before, but it was a different restaurant and a billion years ago. Thought we'd try something different than our usual Charlie's Stars and Stripes stop after hitting the hair dresser for a lunch time bangs trim. Really liked our server, she was friendly and attentive and kept my iced tea full which is very important to me! I had the nachos and as described by our server, they were HUGE. I think that these nachos would have been perfect except the chicken wasn't that great.. it was extremely salty and too much of whatever other seasoning they used made me not care for it, so I left a lot behind. Also the olives tasted funky. Otherwise, though, these would be good nachos. I might try them again sans chicken and olives. One friend had the blue cheese wedge salad and the other had the tuna melt and both loved their food. The tuna melt is interesting and has apples and cranberries in it, but my friend said it was really good and not overly greasy like a grilled sandwich CAN get. Atmosphere and vibe was that of a bar, maybe even a neighborhood hang out type of bar. It wasn't full on this Friday lunch time, but there were plenty of tables being used. The prices are average for the meal and restaurant and over all we enjoyed it and would definitely return. read more

Was looking for a late night dining option and other restaurants over in Montclair were quoting a 2 hour wait. Went to Jd Allisons instead and sat down right away. Service was really good especially considering there were only 2 servers taking care of the bar (including pouring drinks) and the dining room. Food was all delicious and there were many items I wanted to try. We ordered the sausage pasta, open face turkey sandwich, and steak sandwich. We found this place for lunch while near by. It is absolutely delish! We got the wet n wild fries for an app.... Such a huge portion and so darn good- basically the big brother of in n out animal style fries. We gobbled them up and basically had to force our selves to eat our other meal because the fries were so big and good. I got the soup and salad combo, the soup is amazing! The baja chicken soup (sans breadbowl) with thick and tasty with lots of white meat. The salad is a good array of mixed greens (not just iceburg). My friend got the buffalo chicken salad and it was huge and great quality product. The place was actually pretty darn busy for lunch and there was only one server/bartender... She was great! This place is definitely above average. The service is a bit on the slower side, but wasn't bad. My waitress brought my orders out quickly and was attentive whenever I needed anything. I came on Thursday when they have $5 steak dinners. The steaks are a bit small and require you to order at least 2 drinks (alcoholic or not ) but for the price, it is absolutely worth it. You get a steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, and a salad. They have $5 sliders on Mondays, $1 tacos/enchiladas and $3 mexican beers on tuesdays, $6 spaghetti dinners on wednesday, and $5 steak dinners on thursday. What can I say about JD's except every time I come here I have a good experience! Today Jill was our server abs she did a fantastic job (as usual) she's always great! The best thing about this place is the atmosphere. I've been going here for years and I love the way the servers make me feel when walk in. An A-Ok! Spot to catch some football and enjoy a cold one. They have Sunday specials until noon sadly, we missed them because the game we wanted to watch was after 1pm but no worries. Prices are a bit on the higher side for food but maybe the food is really good? Wouldn't be able to tell ya we were just there for the brews. They do offer Pomona Queen on tap, one of the favs for us as well as plenty of seating at the bar, inside and on the patio. I would say good for large groups. Service is adequate. My family and I happened upon this place. The reviews were not fantastic but we gave it a try. So glad that we did! I read some of the older reviews and all I can imagine is that they have made some major changes. The service was perfect - the servers were extremely attentive and friendly. Everything we ordered was fantastic. The ahi sandwich was one of the best I've ever had, and we've tried them all along the coast. It's a little loud but that should be implied in that it's a bar and grill. You can carry on a conversation without shouting so not an issue. Wonderful surprise!!! read more

Wife had major surgery at the hospital nearby so I walked to JD's for lunch to clear my mind. I sat outside on a perfect day. The beer on tap was fresh and cold, the Old Fashioned was a little rough around the edges but decent, and the BLT... well you cannot screw up a BLT right? It was delicious. There was a homeless lady who saw the remainder of my sandwich so I bought her an iced tea while she finished the sandwich.
