Bad experience totally. Everything I asked not to be done to my hair was done. Fried my hair when curling it and put so much hairspray that she left my hair hard as a rock. Bad service and bad quality. Overpriced and rude/demeaning service. I'm only giving a 1 star because there's nothing else below that level that the algo will let me post. Not a good experience at all and I feel that I need to say something because my daughter took the day off from work and waited 2 weeks just to get the appointment. I made an appointment for my daughter to dye her hair blonde, her entire head, not just highlights. When I made the appointment, I explained what she wanted, on the phone, to the receptionist. The receptionist called it a double process appointment. When we arrived for the appointment, we waited 20 minutes for the stylist. When the stylist was finally ready, my daughter explained what she wanted. The stylist said "you were only booked for a 30 minute appointment and I can't do your entire head, that takes hours". I asked her, "how could this happened". I specifically explained what my daughter wanted, when I made the appointment. The stylist said she can only do highlights in 30 minutes. That didn't make sense to us, so I asked to speak with a manager. There was no Manager available, but the receptionist looked at the stylist scheduled and said that she would have time to do her entire head because someone had cancelled. So, we went back to the stylist and explained what the receptionist said. The stylist wasn't aware of the cancellation and then agreed to do the full head. She then asked for another minute to go get something in the back of the salon. We waited another 10 minutes for her and then she comes back to us and explains that she is not comfortable doing the entire head without a 4 to 6 hour appointment, so we left. Bottom line, just an absolutely ridiculous way to do business. My daughter doesn't get a lot of time off work and was so excited to try something new with her hair. Very disappointed and would never go back or recommend them to anyone. Just terrible... read more

I am originally from Queens but moved out to Nassau County almost 20 years ago. I love my stylist that I have seen for over 23 years. Drove to Queens every 4 months for color and highlights. My sister lives in Suffolk, she told me about this Salon and raved so much about it I finally said OK just once I will try it. I had a picture of the different highlights I wanted, along with a new style. I had previously sent it to my original girl in Queens, who told me I would never achieve that color or style. I sent the same picture to a woman who works at the Salon named Lauren. In seconds told me how she could do it, plus add a few extensions for fullness as my hair is already long, I was a little hesitate, but went for it. Oh my god, I look younger, and the highlights are amazing. I love my old stylist, but I have to say I am now going to be a forever JD Salon customer. Especially now Lauren is my new girl. Not to mention the Salon is big and beautifully designed. A treat all the way around. I highly recommend. If I could give them 10 stars I would. read more

I found this salon through goodwell.com salon finder. Not only do they use goldwell color that have a BUNCH of goodwill products. I got my hair done by John. My hair looks f****** awesome. I told him i was an 11a he did another color and he was right because the 11a is to light for me. The cut while simple, he nailed. The blow out gorgeous. His demeanor wonderful. I was so happy w him before I found out he was the owner. The girl who washes you out was so nice. The front desk lady was great too. The decor is simple but very nice. They did not skimp on the furnishings. The prices GREAT. 113 for cut blow and single process color. Im assuming John yields the highest rate since hes the owner and you should pay it. Took my wife here. She wanted 2 inches straight cut off the bottom. The cut is very uneven. She had to point out missed spots to the stylist. The stylist never took a comb out to correct it , just clipped quickly with scissor (not even holding hair with hand). My wife is not pleased. Also the staff was young and immature. I made an appointment and asked for someone who does a nice blow out for long hair. I explained to the lady I want a bouncy blowout. She just dried the hair with the blow dryer and didn't style it. It was the worst blowout I ever got. I can do a way better job myself. I will not be coming back. I feel like I just wasted time and money. Came in last weekend and been meaning to write a review. This was my first time in this salon. The women at the front desk was so pleasant and patient with me on the phone and in person and very personable! Even though I only spent $10 to get my hair washed I was treated like I was spending a million dollars and I think that's so important! I am 40 years old and there are two people on this planet that have touched my hair with scissors...my mother and Lori from JD Thomas & Co. I love my mother, but Lori is incredibly talented when it comes to cutting and blowing out hair. I went to her, and met my now husband, 3 days later. That was 13 years ago, and I still give her the credit for him falling in love with me. Each time I walk out of the salon after having Lori color, cut and blow my hair out (very long, thick, curly hair), people stop me to compliment my hair. She is patient, knowledgeable and truly loves her career. The salon is very clean, front desk staff is warm and welcoming, there is fresh citrus water and bagels in the back for clients and a comfortable sitting area in the front. The entire staff (owners included) really seem to enjoy working with one another and is the type of environment where I would trust people with one of the most important parts of my appearance. I am quite possibly one of the most particular people on Earth with my hair and I must admit that for the very first time I have found a salon that doesn't give me anxiety with every appointment for I know that I will get a great hair cut or color consistently. No Russian roulette. I just recently had my hair colored in an Ombre fashion (a very tricky trend that could easily go wrong) but Deana (shoutout!!!) made it look sophisticated, chic, stylish and uber cool all at once. I simply ADORE how it turned out! I also love getting my haircuts here because I, like many women, am trying to grow my hair yet still have to get regular trims to nix dead ends - and when you them to "skim the ends please" you don't walk out of here sans 2 inches of hair and runny mascara from crying! The staff is amazing , John and Dawn have done an awesome job in selecting their staff, everyone is super friendly from the reception area to the shampoo people.
