I was referred to Dr. Jeannie Chung from my normal dentist. He has tied to get me to see a specialist for years for my periodontal. Her staff was helpful and professional from the call to schedule to the office visit to the call to schedule the surgery. Dr. Chung saw me for a consultation, she explained everything very well to me with documents and pictures. She was very patient and answered ALL my questions. I did not feel pressured at all to start the treatment plan. I explained I wanted to speak to my dentist first. I actually didn't feel like I need to speak to my dentist as she explained everything to me and said the same things he has said to me. She recommended a product to try to help in the meantime. I have scheduled my LANAP and will follow up with my review. The only part that was frustrating was the actual building, the front doors that face the street are locked with no call box. read more

I have never in my life been treated so terribly by a medical professional. Dr. Chung told me to stop my invisalign and get a second laser cleaning. I wanted a second opinion and was told by another periodontist it probably was not necessary. So I decided to postpone the surgery until after my invisalign treatment was done since I only had a few months left. I ended up getting an infection and so I went back to Dr. Chung to get it examined and discuss other surgical options. She proceeded to berate me about how I did not listen to her and she was more concerned with making me feel bad than listening to me and helping me. I was distraught over my infection as I have had issues with this one tooth my entire life. She was upset I was getting dental cleanings at my regular dentist who apparently was not keeping Dr. Chung informed. She was clearly upset I got a second opinion which most doctors would welcome. She was also clearly upset I apparently didn't listen to her even though I was told by my dentist and another periodontist the second laser cleaning would probably not help much. She told me she didn't think her office was the right place for me as I sat there in bewilderment as to how I was being treated. Quite simply she attacked me for choosing to do what I thought was best for my own body instead of listening to her right away. I am the nicest person you would ever meet and to be berated like this by someone who clearly did not want to help me and just wanted to prove to me she was right and I was wrong was so horrible I walked out. I have never had to do that before in my life. I would not recommend this doctor for your periodontal needs. She was so unprofessional with me and mean. I am still in shock. I hope this helps others not have to deal with what I just went through. Does she really think I want infections and not to fix my problem to the point she had to talk to me like that? Absurd. Have you ever heard of a patient being verbally attacked like this? I'm appalled. She bullied me. I've been seeing Dr. Jeannie Chung and her hygienist, Terri, for about 7 years. I had my first gum tissue graft with her about 3-4 years ago, and my second one last week. Dr. Chung educated me about the procedure, and walked me through what she was doing every step of the way. She is extremely gentle, has a soothing voice, and calm demeanor. Terri is a sweetheart. She continuously checks in with me during the cleaning to ensure I'm comfortable since I deal with sensitivity from my receded gums. Their office runs on time, and they are ready to see me as soon as I walk through the door. They have been very efficient and thorough with their Covid precautions. I noticed a few of the negative reviews posted several years ago, were all related to her front office staff. Luckily, she has a new front staff that is pleasant and helpful. The front staff lady called Letty is very rude. She was being rude to me repeatedly 3 times . Whenever i ask hee something she gets frustrated, angry and gives back rude answers. I don't know what's her problem. One time she behaved so badly , she made an ugly face at me. Dr chung has to change this lady otherwise she is going to lose patients. I had to cancel all my upcoming appointments because of Letty's RUDE behavior. I hope the management checks the reviews and take some action against her. And also this clinic charges you more than what your insurance is taking. Very impressed with the gum graft procedure that Dr. Chung performed on my gums. It started with a consultation. From there the procedure was done. This was followed by 2 check-ups. The finish was one last check-up and then an 'all-good-to-go' conclusion. The consultation included an explanation of the procedure and expectations. An inspection and notes were taken of the levels of my gums and a photo was taken of the area to be grafted. Several weeks passed and they did not pester me to get the procedure done. Nice. When I was ready to move forward, I called the office to set an appointment. No hassle. On the day of the procedure, I was to have a decent breakfast and I did. Went into the operating room and they took my blood pressure, which turned out to be a bit high. Nervous, I guess. They gave me some time to calm down, which I did, and the procedure was done. Not bad at all. Got home and started to rest. A few hours later, Dr. Chung's staff called to make sure I was OK and to see if I had any issues/questions. Nice. I went in for 2 check-ups after the procedure. They were like weeks apart, to ensure all was going great. And it was. In my last check-up, Dr. Chung made sure that all the stitches were removed and that everything is good. With a thumbs up on everything, Dr. Chung and I called the procedure a success. Thank you. During this whole experience, Dr. Chung and her staff are to be commended. Very professional, polite, and caring. Thanks again. We will do it again soon. read more

I found Dr. Jeannie Chong through my orthodontist, who also is her patient, and I had a great experience with her. My experience with her is during COVID times and found her office staff to be quite easy to deal with both via email and phone. I really appreciate Dr. Jeannie Chung's attention to my well-being and pain level during the procedure, and they actually called and checked in on me the day after too to make sure I was doing okay and answer any questions. Great experience. Front staff is super nice and have taken the time to remember my name every time I'm in there. Which at first I would think is a negative, as I was kind of embarrassed about the state of my gums. But thankfully Dr. Chung and her staff are not only incredibly professional, they're all a comforting presence too and got me through the whole process (consultation, procedure, post-care) without a single hitch, judgmental comment, etc. It's been 3-4 months since my procedure and I've had zero problems with my gum and teeth. This is a periodontal practice only (plus implants). I have been a patient of this practice since 1991 when I lived in San Ramon. Dr. Chung purchased this practice from Dr. Dennis Low in the mid-90s. I really hate to leave a negative review. Dr. Chung was very nice to me and so were her hygienists. My review is for the front office staff. I had to re-schedule an appt. and called in to do so. I was having dental insurance issues and kept pushing my appt. back after explaining this to the older lady in the front. It wasn't a problem until she (the older lady) forgot to cancel my appt. and I was charged. I called in to go over it with her and she wouldn't acknowledge that she did this. She did mention that I had called in before to do that but couldn't remember if I called in to cancel the last one. She never would take payment or take the fee off. I am SURE she never told anyone in the office about the several times I called in. I think Dr. Chung should have competent staff available to her patients. This is my FIRST time to review any business. As a business owner myself, I am very reluctant to review or judge something by my own view or point. However, I have to write today about HORRIBLE experience and what happened in this office. I had an appointment at 9:40 today for my regular cleaning. Even though I really do not like to drive there in the morning, taking high way 880, very heavy traffic from Campbell to Fremont taking 45 mins. They said this time is only time slot for me, so I took it. When I got there just on time, the receptionist ( I do not know her name, new) checked my full name and she said that they do not have my name there!! WHAT!!! She blamed her co-worker who set up the appointment and she said very bluntly that no my name and if I want, she can put me in 10:40. Go and come back in one hour. She didn't express any APOLOGY or anything!! Then what she is saying? I have to wait for one hour doing nothing? What about my time? What about my next schedule? Like everybody else, I am busy doing my work and personal stuff. I've been using their service for about 2 years and I've been satisfied their service even though they charge more than other dental office. However, today was the worst service I've ever had from any other offices or other retail stores. I just got out and I won't ever go there. During the appointment day they made me wait a long time even though I had an appointment. Didn't answer the original question I went to them for, instead kept me for another 30 mins explaining how I critically and absolutely needed deep cleaning and gave me a huge estimate for the deep cleaning. Since I know a deep cleaning with a regular dentist would cost lower I booked an appointment with a regular dentist. One day before my appt the regular dentist and her hygienist calls me and tells me that given my situation I DID NOT need a deep cleaning at all! So not only did the periodontist not answer my original question, she kept pushing an expensive deep cleaning procedure which as per other dentists and hygienists I did not even need! I don't get why she only has one review, she is a super perio. I had a chipped tooth and there was a 50% chance it needed to b pulled and that would create all sorts of other issues. BUT, she was able to save it with a procedure called 'crown lengthening'. Google it and read how unpleasant it is. Imagine my anxiety plus the fact I don't get numb easily. Jeannie was able to numb me and explain my numbing issue - long roots. So she had to inject deeper/lower and tada, I was totally numb throughout the procedure. Thank goodness. Today, I have a crown and all is well given the dire condition it was in. She is a perio that specializes in SAVING the tooth. She doesn't do extractions, crowns or cleanings and that is why I saw her. Also, her staff is simply wonderful. I forget the names but her dental assistant is sweet and professional and the receptionist as well. They handled all the insurance and getting the details from my general dentist. I've been a patient at Dr. Jeannie Chung's periodontal office for many years. I had gum surgery many years ago by Dr. Chung, and I continue to come in to have my teeth cleaned. Dr. Chung is very gentle, professional and confident. I remember being so nervous before my gum surgery, but she put me at ease with her explanation of the procedure. The outcome was successful and I experienced very little discomfort. It's comforting that her staff has been with her for many years. It's nice getting to know her front office girls and her hygienists. They all have so much experience and I actually look forward to my appointments there. Dr. Chung has been at her new office location on Hastings for the past 4 or 5 years. It's so much nicer than the older building. The new office is very comfortable and modern, and parking is never a problem. I feel so fortunate that my general dentist referred me Dr. Chung. I am so glad that my regular dentist referred me to Dr Chung for gum grafting. Dr.Chung did a wonderful job. She gave clear explanations during the surgery, which helped greatly to alleviate my anxiety. Before and after the surgery, she talked to me in details and made sure I understood what needed to be done after the surgery. She did the grafting on me on Wednesday. Two days later, on Friday at work, I accidentally broke off the dressing. I called Dr.Chung's office, at first they gave me detailed instructions of what to do. When it became obvious that I was nervous about the missing dressing, Dr.Chung offered to put a new dressing back for me. Due to heavy Friday after traffic, I arrived at Dr.Chung's office almost 30 minutes after they are closed. I am so glad that Dr.Chung waited for me. When she was done with me, it's almost 6 o'clock, one hour after she was supposed to get off work. I am so grateful that Dr.Chung went above and beyond to take care of her patients. read more

During my first consultation after periodontal surgery, I inquired about the soreness of the chin.I was told at that very moment that she accidentally bruised my chin. During my first week after the surgery, I was on strained liquid diet. Exactly one week after the surgical procedure, I was bleeding profusely. My friend was not able to reach her at her after hours' phone number at first, and she took me to the emergency. In the waiting room, my friend was able to reach her and we went to her office right away. There was a slit on my palette. She did a lot of unnecessary stitching as she mentioned that she was going to buy insurance. Needless to say, the insurance was expensive in the pain scale. She would charge 5% less for cash or cheque without going through insurance. Prior to the procedure, the insurance was denied. After talking to them, it was approved as I have dental insurance with Blue Shield since 1980's. Since I have to pay upfront prior to the procedure, I assume her office must have contacted Blue Shield as I only had to pay the remaining balance at that time. When the bill arrived, I noticed that the insurance denied my charge. I then contacted the office and was told that it was my responsibility to deal with Blue Shield. During the dispute, which last one month in duration, finance charges were added to the bill. read more

Please beware of this practice. Before you know it, your insurance money would be gone and you will get stuck with huge out of pocket expenses as well. I consulted the doctor for pain in one of my upper molars. I was put on antibiotics for a prolonged period. The doctor recommended deep cleaning and we got that done until my insurance ran out. When I consulted doctor again for the same issue, they recommended a new "Expensive - Surgery" procedure. This time I was given an estimate of over $2K for out of pocket - which I refused to do. By then it was over 3 months, and I decided to consult another dentist. The impacted tooth had to be extracted and the new dentist's observation was that delaying the extraction had caused damage in the adjoining areas as well. I am still recovering from all the ill treatment. The doctor also sent me bill for out of pocket expenses, including my repeat visits for the same issue - Even though I would call the office ahead of my visit, to confirm that there was no out of pocket expense associated with the consultation, they still billed me. My dentist referred me for dental implant and said it's a free consultation. I went there last year in December and I just received a bill from her office recently and she charged $145 for the 10 minute consultation and told me she can not fix my old implant. Please be aware if you are going to meet her, ask any fee first. read more
