Absolutely love Jed's. We try to go to Jed's before the big stores like Home Depot and Lowe's due to the fact they're our local hardware store and due to the level of service you get. If you have any questions on how to do a task around your house, they'll explain it to you and make sure you have the tools. They'll even verify the tools work together if needed. They can help you figure out how to fix issues if you explain the problem as well. Service is fantastic all around from the questions about your project to helping you load up anything you buy such as mulch or salt. Everyone is friendly and helpful as well. Go to Jed's and help keep them in business so we have this gem of a store to keep going to. read more

As recent first time home owners we quickly learned regular trips to the hardware store would be a new part of our lives. Over the past year or so we have been visiting Jed's. They have just about everything you would need for a quick weekend project. Compared to other hardware stores in the area we have been very impressed by their staff. They are all very knowledgeable and helpful. Today we were looking for a couple of specialty screws and before we could even reach that section of the store two workers asked if we needed help with anything. In addition to hardware supplies, they have a really nice garden section with high-quality plants. We were particularly impressed with their hydrangeas, which were 2-3 times larger than other nurseries we have seen and listed at the same price. Also, worth noting this place is the spot in town to buy a Christmas tree! Right after Thanksgiving they ship in tons of trees and offer them for a flat rate. If you find yourself needing to stop by a hardware store I would highly recommend dropping by Jed's over one of the other big box stores in town. read more

My lawnmower, lot the drain plug and I went in town at a place that sells and repairs lawnmowers. They couldn't help me. They said they needed serial numbers, manufacture numbers and engine numbers. So I went to Jed's took a couple of pictures of the drain plug hole of the lawnmower. Anthony was helping me we picked a couple different boats and rubber washers and it worked perfectly so I highly recommend Jed's hardware! I've lived in Holden for 14 years and in all the times I've gone there only one time they weren't able to help me , I give them 100% when it comes to quality service great family own business. read more

I like Jed's, but always wondered where they got the name because the owner's name is Jim. They basically have one of everything, sometimes two. They have a lot of lawn and garden supply materials, and one time when I was working on a car and one of the lug nuts was cross threaded by somebody who was "helping" me, they were the only ones that had the correct die to rethread the bolt. The prices are quite a bit higher than Home Depot, but not quite enough to make it worth that extra 4 or 5 miles in each direction to go into Worcester, which is something that we always avoid as much as possible. The only thing that I would want them to improve is the greeting that you get from some of their personnel, it's not bad but they can improve that a little bit. They just put in a new building, and they're renting power equipment and selling work clothes. They also have pet food, including the expensive good stuff, at slightly lower prices than most pet shops. The thing I love about this place the most is the owner gives long-term employees an ownership stake. Smart businessman! Go there and experience an area icon. read more

I use this place for all my "quick i need this" needs. Its right in town for me and a great go to option. The staff is knowledgeable and on many occasions have gave me great advice and tips. I purchased a snowblower from JED'S hardware in fall of 2018. I only used it once in 2018/19, as I have a plow. I stored it properly. Upon starting it this fall 2019, the machine being less than a year old, it would not start. I brought it to JEDS to see if they could get it started. They would not stand behind their product, they would not have it repaired for me, and they told me to take it elsewhere to get serviced. They also told me that they did not carry the product anymore and would not stand behind the product that they carried when I purchased it. Needless to say I am very unhappy with the service that was provided to me by JEDS. I am also going to contact the Better Business Bureau , file a claim in small claims court, and picket outside of their establishment if I have to. Please do not shop at JEDS you don't need anything that they have. read more

Good hardware store, but you have to be careful with the prices. Some things are very competitively priced, and others are crazy expensive. typically items for lawn care or driveway salt, bird seed things like that, dog food, are reasonably priced, but I went into their new Workwear and Rental building recently and was just astonished at how high some of the prices are it was really eye-opening read more

Every time I go to this place, I see the sign that says Jed's and think of that old show show on TV, Beverly Hillbillies and that silly intro song. They're not the cheapest, but they always seem to have what you want, they're very friendly, and it's an interesting place to go. If I need something that I know Walmart has, I'll go there, but if it's something that's a little bit different Jed's will probably have it. Love that Christmas tree smell too! read more

I like Jed's, they have a little bit of everything you need including some non-hardware stuff like local milk, ice cream, root beer, breads, jams, etc. Plus their garden section is nice to walk around in. You can get good pet food there as well. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff when I needed help choosing paint for my walls and other hardware questions. Their prices are a little bit more pricey but I dont mind because I like supporting good, quality family-run businesses. read more

We have been in the Holden area for 6-7 years now. We frequent Jed's, as it's the best "hardware" store we have ever been to. Young guys that work there are super helpful and never annoyed when you ask for help. They have everything from stuff for our dogs , lawn , grill, etc .. oh and screen repair is excellent as well. read more

Great store, the small parts hardware section is one of the best around and keeps growing too. Garden supplies are great too! I would have given 5 stars but you just gotta watch the prices, some of those small hardware items are over the top, I bought a 1/4" fine thread Heim joints (Rod end) for my sons go-kart gas pedal linkage and it was over double the price I'd paid for the same exact item at Leader in Barre. Also higher than the high performance racing suppliers. Bottom line though is I choose to support local business over the corporate big box guys and if you need it, Jed's has it! read more

Great local hardware store, that goes beyond, offering a wide variety of products. Staff is always friendly and willing to help. They have exceeded my expectations as far as offering a consistent knowledgeable shop. Excellent alternative to big business corporate America, I.E.: Home Depot/ Lowes. I would much rather spend a couple dollars more "which is not always the case either" and support a quality "mom&pop" than to visit the alternatives. read more

Jed's Hardware is a great hardware store, with a knowledgable staff, and they sell all sorts of things that you wouldn't expect. I have only had good experiences going to Jed's, and even though I live close (~2 miles away), they're my first choice for Hardware store or general store regardless of distance. Years back during a huge winter snow storm I needed an extra shovel, and while every box store in Worcester county was out of shovels and not willing to help, Jed's had plenty. Multiple times I've gone in looking for a specific part, I ask one of the helpful dudes who work there and they bring me right to the part... The most bizarre was when I was looking for "a small rubber seal for a flushmaster 3,000..." And the guy was like, "Oh.. yeah... Yeah I know just the part." We walk to the back and he pulls it off the shelf and hands it to me... like $1.50 all told, and the piece was just the right one. Prevented a calamitous issue. Employees are always super helpful. The only drawback is that they generally close earlier than most big box stores, but what do you expect, locally owned, locally staffed, they can't run all hours of the night like the big chains can. OH. Great pet supplies (my dog gives 5-stars to their rawhide bones), solid bottled rootbeer, and they're right next to a great Thai restaurant. So, next time you're in need of tools and Thai food, head to Jed's in Holden. read more

You can find pretty much anything you may need for house and garden here. While they are not cheap, prices are reasonable. One of the widest assortments of perennial flowers and roses in the area. They also keep the plants watered, so unlike many of the "box stores", you're purchasing plants that haven't endured a lot of stress while waiting to be bought.
