For one thing they don't guarantee their work unless it's on new construction another words if your house is new construction he will guarantee his work but other than that there's no guarantee. He couldn't get the drain plug off at the back of my house so he said that I had to have the toilet removed and the snake go down ( the toilet drain hole) to the front of the house through the toilet drain. He had already cleaned out the main drain in the front of the house to the tune of $200. He said that his snake doesn't have a close cage and if he did the work it would make a mess in the bathroom and I need to call somebody else. So I called Roto-Rooter and they charged me $900. They put a camera down all the way to the street in my main drain and saw that there was a clump of tree roots that Harris Plumbing missed. I called Harris Plumbing and they said ( once again) that they don't stand behind their work. Needless to say $1,100 down the main drain! I definitely would never use them again... read more

Jeff Harris has been my plumber for years. He is so excellent, I almost hate to share him with you. But I will cuz he's such a nice honest man, who is a wizard at his craft. The first time I ever called him, I wanted to get an estimate for an installation of a gas pipe in my fireplace, thus turning my wood-burning into gas optional -- which is way less messy to run. I'd gotten estimates from 2 other plumbing companies. They wanted to charge me $1200 and $1500, respectively. Mr. Harris came and checked my fireplace. As it turned out -- he showed me I already HAD a gas pipe in my fireplace. He took out a wire brush, cleaned out the holes in the pipe -- turned it on -- and voila! Gas. And he only charged me $55.00. From then on -- it was plumber love, for real. He's been at my home to install a clean-out, unclog drains from the roof on an emergency basis, replace the garbage disposal -- etc. etc.. And if you call him, and he doesn't specialize in something (like he told me he doesn't install water softeners) he still gave me the names of a couple of businesses that do. Now that's class. BTW... If you ever want to get on his good side, he likes golf. Just like having a good dentist, having a great plumber is absolutely essential. Give him a call. You won't regret it. read more

Jeff and his assistant replaced a widespread bathroom faucet that was over twenty years old. I have an old home so like taking an old car to a mechanic I'm always wary about calling a plumber. He gave me a ball park figure from an easy job with no complications and explained what could get tricky in taking out an old fixture. Jeff Harris came to my house with a request to 1) install a pedestal sink, 2) install new bathtub drain trim and 3) unclog a drain. From the moment he stepped in, he was on a fishing expedition to rake me for as much $$ as possible and try to convince me I had a disaster on my hands. (really? a sink and a drain?) 1) He told me the sink I purchased would not fit because the waterlines were in the wrong place. He said the tile needed to be ripped off and the walls needed to be opened up to move the water lines. I pulled the sink spec sheet and read to him that there was 9" of clearance to work with, plenty for water lines. He didn't even care to look at the sheet, because I called BS. He then said my walls were not stable enough for a sink and again: my tile had to be ripped off and the walls opened up in order to hold the sink. Hmmm...I'm seeing a pattern. 2) the simple bathtub drain trim...well he said he needed to rip out the ceiling below in order to reach it. Huh? That sounds backassward... 3) He then proceeded to tell me my stopped drain was too clogged to be snaked. That's right folks, THIS PLUMBER SAID HE COULD NOT UNCLOG A DRAIN. Instead, I needed my wall opened up and part of the foundation removed to lay down a new pipe. The cost for this alone..."at least $1,800." when he could see I wasn't buying it, he said "I don't want to do this job!..." acted like he was going to walk away, then sheepishly peeked back and followed up with, "unless you want to do it the way I said." I called his bluff and showed him the door. What I'm about to say next sounds almost unreal but it is 100% true: I called another plumber who came by the same afternoon. this new one completely snaked the drain, polished the drain trim to look brand new and installed the pedestal sink, (the new plumber said "the sink is attached to 1 1/2 inches of concrete. I could have hung a bathtub to this wall") total time: 2 hours. Total cost: $150. Jeff is a dishonest person. Very small in stature, even smaller in character. read more

I called Jeff yesterday and scheduled an appointment for today between noon and 2pm and asked him if he could come any earlier, to please call me. The job was at my elderly parents' house and I live a few miles away. Today, I'm waiting from 11:30 until just now (1pm) at their house and I thought I'd call Jeff to find out his ETA. He tells me that he came by my parents house at 8am and because no one answered the door, he cancelled my appointment!!! I reminded him that I don't live at their house and that we still have a noon to 2pm appointment and he said, "No, we don't. When no one answered the door or the phone, I filled the day with other customers." I asked him when he was going to phone me and let me know that he'd cancelled my appointment and he said, "It really doesn't matter, does it? I've already filled my day with other appointments." Wow...just wow. Now, I'm on the phone again, trying to find a plumber who can still come out today. A simple phone call, saying, "Sorry, I was at your parents house and since no one WAS AWAKE AT 8AM, I'm cancelling your appointment", would have been sufficient to allow me to spend rest of the morning trying to find someone. He is, by far, the worst service person I've ever heard of in my life! read more

I called Jeff Harris because I had a problem with my washing machine backing up into bathtub. He came by and gave me an estimate of $1,300.00 to replace approximately 6-7 feet of pipe. I thought the price was to high. When I actually hired another plumber to come out an give me an estimate, the pipe didn't need replacing. It was a minor fix and cost me $150.00 to have repaired. Jeff told me I needed the pipes replaced because they were old. I told him I had all pipes replaced with PVC about 8 years ago. Please be aware of his high prices for repairs and the dishonesty about what needs to be replaced. Get another estimate before you hire him. Find an honest plumber! I recommend that you don't hire him. read more

He will tell you the truth about fixing pipes or drains--especially if they are very old. He will never do unnecessary work. His work is excellent. He is honest and of the highest integrity. After having a horrible experience with one of the big chain plumbing companies, I went local and called Jeff. Wasn't sure what to expect since it was a Saturday morning; I didn't think he'd be able to help me so quick. He was extremely friendly on the phone and said he was heading back from another job and would stop by in a matter of minutes. Ten minutes later, he was at my front door and quickly assessed what the problem was. It was a lingering issue that the big plumbing chain had wanted $1200 to fix back in '09. Jeff did it for $225! Just had to update this - we finally completely remodeled our antiquated, ugly bathroom. Ripped out walls and floors, installed new windows, all new tiles, fixtures, and lighting. Jeff and crew did the whole thing on time and perfectly. Covered everything before they started to keep the dust under control, and did a beautiful job. Even (because one set of tiles were late) had an extra day to install some lighting in our very dark hallway. He is the best! read more
