Chris is nearing or at retirement, as per he telling you, but we purchased a two main line package that he pitched, so I don't think he cares anymore. Chris did a great job, and is a nice guy, the first time. However, Chris is suppose to come back to do a 2nd clean out one year after paying for two clean outs. I have called, emailed, and texted him. No response. I even ran into him when we had free stuff outside our house when he stopped by to look at it. But no follow through. His exwife, the plumber at American Drain Works, even contacted him. It boarders a scam when you pitch and sell a 2 main line clean out with a higher price than a single clean out, but then don't do it. So I am writing this review frustrated with trusting Chris would follow through and honor our payment and agreement to do a clean out, with a one year follow up clean out. read more

I viewed ALL the Yelp comments about the various plumbers recommended on the NextDoor Ocean Park Santa Monica site and on the basis of The Greener Plumber's good reviews and no negative reviews decided to hire him for work in a rental apartment I own in Venice. I was very pleased. He did three projects in one visit: replaced the inside "guts" on a toilet tank that was leaking, removed old leaking corroded metal pipes (2) and replaced with new non-metal pipes under the kitchen sink (a better quality sure to last), and removed a bathroom faucet and replaced it with a new one that I provided and had pre-purchased. He spent about 1 hour 45 minutes to do the entire job - worked quickly, spotlessly and came with all the supplies he needed already in hand. Fee was $365 for parts and labor, which I felt was fair for such good quality work. I would recommend him and use him again. read more

Hiring Chris was by far the best experience I've ever had using a professional plumber. We had a blockage in the main drain pipe for the bathroom sink. I've been able to clear it myself with an auger before, but this time I couldn't get it. We called Chris, he was there in 20 minutes with the serious professional gear and fixed it quickly with no damage to the pipes or sink. His rates were super reasonable, I could not believe how affordable it was, and when the toilet started making noise because of an old part, he fixed that for free in two minutes with a replacement part he had in the van. I called the Greener Plumber on Sunday. He picked up even though it was a father's day Sunday. My problem wasn't so urgent, so I made an appointment on Monday at 8am. He was perfectly on time. After he did an inspection, my problem was more serious than I thought. Chris was very professional while working. He is definitely a hard worker. I called Chris after 5 pm on a Tuesday because my garbage disposal/drain in the kitchen had backed up. He answered immediately and as it was after 5 pm he asked if it was an emergency or if it could wait until the morning. After assessing the situation and trying a few simple things, he went to next steps and took the sink apart and snaked it. He determined the clog was not near the sink but probably the result of many many years of build up much further down the pipe. He recommended someone who could help quickly and did not charge me. I'll be honest, I am a frequent Yelp user who can rarely be bothered to post reviews... but Chris has been awesome on two occasions now, so I'm motivated to give him credit where it's due. We had a tricky issue with roots growing into a shower drain, with no cleanout access to get at them. We had a normal rooter guy come and fail to clear it. He recommended hydrojetting, which is why I called Chris. He came by one morning, spent 20 minutes sizing it up and talking about our options. He couldn't do the job with his gear (without doing damage to our shower), but he took a long time to thoughtfully tell me things we could try instead. He recommended a chemical solution, and said he could come back and try something else if that didn't work out. No charge, despite a house-call and 20 minutes of his time and knowledge. It didn't... and after ignoring the problem for a while I finally called him back to ask about a camera inspection. He was off work with an injury, but took my call anyway. Listened to my story, remembered our situation, and then dug up contact info for a specialty company that could help us out. Friendly, smart, nice, professional. I called Chris (found him on Yelp) when my toilet clogged recently. He made himself available right away, and a couple of hours later he showed up. Right away I could tell he was the real deal. He diagnosed my bizarre issue (the weeds from nearby ficus trees were growing up into my toilet!). He got everything taken care of quickly and gave me what I thought was a very reasonable rate. I also felt like he just knew what he was doing more than other plumbers I've found. He's been doing it so long he knows what's wrong right away. Summary: In 15 years I have never found a contractor to match Chris's integrity or expertise. I'm a professional manager who calls a plumber approximately 30-50 times a year. Look no further, you've found your plumber. We just completed a major renovation on our house. The Greener Plumber plumbed a full kitchen, 1/2 bathroom, installed a tankless water heater, 3 sinks, 1 garbage disposal, 1 toilet, a ton of gas lines including a higher flow line for our stove. Who knows what else he did along the way? Chris was absolutely outstanding. Most contractors aren't great, even the good ones are unreliable. Chris is not that guy. Always on time, sometimes he shows up just because he's in the area and wants make sure he's prepared for tomorrow. His work is rock solid, we've had no issues with anything. We had to live in our house during part of the renovation. Chris installed a small 10 gallon water heater for us so we could get through it. It was just part of the service he provided us well beyond what the initial job required. Well after all of his work was complete I had a few tweaks that we wanted and he came through about an hour after I called and did them.
