New breakfast in town by the Ceja family. Ironically, the Ceja's restaurant downtown, Bistro Sabor, took over my old favorite breakfast spot, First Squeeze, before that owner left. Jefferson Street Cafe had a good local crowd when I stopped by with my toddler and infant. Had 2 got cakes, 2 eggs, and ham; a big plate even after shared with my boys. Been here a few times before and has always been pretty good, but things have changed. Went in for breakfast with my mother. Worst experience ever. First they only had 4 tables and it took about 35 minutes for our food and to top it off they got the order wrong so it took another 15 minutes to get it. The waitress walked around the tables around if everything was good but skipped our table with empty coffee cups. Did not get helped until we were almost done and received the check at the same time. I did not want to leave a tip but my mother insisted that it was the right thing to do. She asked if she could get change and the waitress said " you are going to have to wait can't you see I'm taking an order" after she was done she just walked away and did not come back. This place was one of my favorites but I will never come to this place again. Food has always been good but the staff is HORRIBLE! read more

What a way to lose a customer. Ordered the corned beef hash today and what was placed in front of me were chewy strips of rubber and big chunks of potato. Here's the kicker, when I told the waitress the meat was chewy and inedible, she informed me that it was homemade as if that somehow made it ok. I told her I've had the corned beef several times at Soscol Cafe and the meat was cooked properly. She continued to argue with me. We went round and round for a few minutes before she agreed to tell the cook. It's not so much the poorly prepared corned beef that bugged me as much as the waitress arguing with me and telling me I was wrong. Mistakes happen and I get that. I could have been easily handled in several ways. "I'm so sorry, I'll tell the chef." Or howabout charge me for two eggs and hashbrowns which I ate and enjoyed. Instead she argued with me, charged me full pop, and lost a good customer. Even just the small jesture of comping my coffee would have gone a long way. Way to stand your ground Jefferson Cafe. Glad there are lots of good breakfast spots around. read more

I showed up here after heading to Soscol Café and they were closed for repair. I ordered a mile high *biscuits and gravy with eggs) with a side of bacon. The biscuits were pretty tough, didn't seem fresh. The gravy was tasty. There are lots of choices in Napa I don't think this would be the first place I go back too. read more

This is my favorite breakfast spot in Napa! The food is awesome, portions are huge and you can't beat the prices. The 'Special' is my favorite (scramble with different stuff each day, hash browns & toast) and I also like the breakfast burrito. I always leave with left overs. I judge a breakfast joint by its ability to make over medium eggs. This is one of the more delicate dishes to make in a classic diner, too long over the fire and they are hard, too short and they are watery. This place failed miserably. The eggs were at best a very underdone over easy. I don't recommend it unless you want to eat undercooked food and disappointing eggs. read more

Went here for lunch after seeing their ad in the paper that it was the same owner as Soscol Cafe (which I have always wanted to go to). After reading the reviews on here decided to try it. Had the cheesebuger with onion rings (you get a choice of fries, rings or salad). The burger was cooked perfectly medium. It was a nice big burger that 2 people could easily share. The only drawback was the bun was a regular hamburger bun, so absorbed the juices, got soggy and started falling apart. Maybe get heartier buns? The onion rings were cut thin and there was a huge pile of them (like Buckhorn Grill's). Not a big fan, would have preferred "regular" onion rings, know for next time. Definitely going back. Hopefully they won't have the mexican music in the kitchen on so loud as it was competing with was was playing in the front of the house. In all, good food and the place looked nice. read more

Happened across this diner by chance and I'm glad we did. Filled with regulars, huge portions of good food. Ordered a turkey burger with a side salad, the side salad was big enough to be my meal the turkey burger was nicely seasoned. Nice surprise with this find. read more

Yesterday, 9 friends and I met at the Jefferson Cafe for breakfast in preparation for a hard day of walking around for Porchfest. Even though it was busy, the employees went out of their way to let us all sit together. The service was quick and polite. We were all served at the same time and the food was delicious. The only reason I give it 3 stars today which would normally be 5 is this. Came here on a Sunday like I do almost every Sunday for the past 3-4 years and there is a young girl taking names at the door for the wait. I walk up and ask to give her my name as it is freezing outside and wanted to wait in the car with my son. She says "these people are ahead of you" and points to a family standing in front of the door. I said "ok, can I give you my name to put on the list?" She says again, "they're ahead of you and I haven't taken their name yet." It takes minimum 10 year old child's critical thinking skills to skip a line and write the name down and leave space for the people ahead or I don't know here's a thought. DO YOUR JOB! Then proceeded to seat two families who showed up after us before us. Been coming here for years and do not appreciate the incompetence or the attitude by new staff. Will only be coming back as the regular staff have always been above and beyond amazing. Word of advice. Drop the idiot. read more

Not at all feeling the chicken fried steak like the person above. It was sliced very thin and I was not even sure of the cut of meat. There was no crispy coating on the outside and lacked flavor. I was so disappointed, because I had eaten at the Soscol Cafe and it was great. I will go back and try breaskfast. My family and I love this to eat here. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner. I usually will get the chef salad, the BLT or a ham and cheese omelet and they all has great flavor. If you are trying to get away from all the crowd and just want to have a quiet dinner go to Jefferson Cafe. The staff is very friendly. read more

This is not a Napa Michelin star restaurant. It's a Mexican restaurant/diner in a commercial/industrial area near the high schools' Memorial Stadium. If you think of it as a diner, the food is pretty good. The best selections are from the breakfast menu...omelettes and huevos rancheros. Black beans were delicious. Portions are hearty, to say the least! No one seemed to be able to clean their plates. The service was just a bit slow, but extremely conscientious! Our waters and coffees were never empty while we waited for our meal. All of the servers were polite with smiles on their faces! Prices are pretty affordable. Atmosphere is sweetly relaxed. Both tourists and locals seemed happy with their dining experience. I would definitely go back if I was in the area. read more
