Definitely a MOCO staple. I came here one last time on Friday for my Philly steak sub. I read that they were going out of business. I hope that it doesn't happen. The owner has been here in business for over 30 years!! There cheesesteaks are the best around, better then any corporate chain, better then any other places locally outside Philly imho. First of all I love their subs, very close to the original Jerry's . Fries not so much. I've been here probably 20 times through the years. So why only two stars?? The owner "Jeffrey" is not a nice person, actually very rude to customers even those who are repeat patrons.. secondly he is extremely cheap. His free sub after buying 6 is a joke. I was told I would only be credited with one stamp even if I spent $100 because it's only one per day no matter how many subs purchased. And finally the cost . We spend almost $40 on 2 sub combos. Now I don't mind spending big bucks but when your treated the way Jeffrey treats his customers it leaves a bad taste in your mouth no matter how good the subs taste. Again, born and raised in Philadelphia so I am a Cheesesteak snob and can be very critical when it comes to Cheesesteaks and Pizza. I stopped at Jerry's last minute, I was in a hurry and hungry. At first glance I found the establishment very clean, the staff is very friendly, attentive and accommodating. At this time let me staye, I am not a Wiz guy, I'm a provolone person however, today I tried The Regular Philly Wiz Cheese steak with fried onions and I was very pleasantly surprised. The roll was good, the sandwich came hot with a good amount of meat and I liked the wiz. I reccomend this Jerry's location and The Philly Wiz. read more

Great experience for a first-time visit. We ordered about 10 minutes before arriving and our pizzas (one plain cheese, one pepperoni/onion) were ready when we arrived. So much parking outside and no cars in the lot. The service was fast & friendly. Both pizzas were extremely hot, fresh, and perfectly baked. The taste was excellent! It's hard to review a chain, but when you work near one and experience it enough times, I feel more comfortable doing so. I also have to admit the regional bias to a local establishment, but I'm happy to say this is tempered with an infrequency in patronizing said locale. In short: chains are chains, and I don't eat hear often, but home-town hero, so take it for what it is. It's Jerry's. Cheap pizzas on Monday, regional cheesesteaks, and colorful advertisement. That's what we all know and love from Jerry's (Ooh, ooh, Jerry's!). Those ads have been on since I was a kid. But, is the food worth it? What about the rest of the dining experience? Well, starting off, this location is pretty big for a sub/pizza shop. There are tables for at least 30, I would estimate, probably more. Also, it's colorful and busy, which to me is the essence of the 80s pizza shop. There are two pinball machines, a lotto machine, and a horse racing TV, not to mention neon and lit menu boards. Definitely a feast for the eyes, and I absolutely love it! The decor, beyond the above-mentioned awesomeness, is a bit outdated. I'm sure the tables, chairs, floor, and ceiling would love a makeover. I can't say this detracts too much for me, but it still wouldn't hurt to update the place a bit. (Just don't lose the pinball machines)! The food... ah, the food. I have a love/hate relationship with Jerry's. I love their menu, but I hate the food by the time I get it. Why? Two words: temperature control. Here's what I mean. On my last visit, I dined in. I ordered a cheesesteak combo (side of fries, drink). To their credit, the fries were rocket-hot, and were perfectly cooked/seasoned. Well done! The sub, however, was already getting cool. I think the reason was, the cheese sauce (I got the whiz special) was sitting cold on the bun, and the bun was not heated, so the hot meat landed on room temperature and cold ingredients. This wasn't enough to heat up the sauce, given that all the heat was escaping up, away from the open-faced sandwich and cheese/bread below. So, it ended up lukewarm, though if I'm being honest, still pretty darn tasty. It's not high quality food, either, at least that's my impression. The pizza has always been a little tough, the toppings somewhat sparse (depends on the day), and the accoutrements like bacon and cheese are often lacking in flavor. Some of the best ideas (like the W or the Bubba) sound so good on paper, but you just don't taste the idea of what you ordered on execution. Is it worth it? Sure, definitely, the prices and quality are in line with most expectations I would say. And their specials are totally worth it. Will it win any awards for food? Probably not without some major changes. Will I be going back? Yeah, I can't say no to the craving, or the decor (love it...). And I'm okay with that; sometimes, you just want a cheesesteak and this assuredly fits the bill. read more

My question is...How do you have a written note on your countertop about how the patronage is not helping the owner or workers go on vacation or buy a fancy house. But it does put food on the table for their children. Then turn around and give a nasty attitude to your guests? After church my mom said she wanted to get a bite from this location....which is now called Jeffrey's. It was my first time coming into this establishment under the new name. The first person who was ringing us up was ok. Just ok in customer service. We proceeded to order and then my mom let him know that she had a credit on file. Here comes the manager coming in hot. Apparently he was the one who gave it to her but luckily she had the receipt to show him. While she was looking for the receipt, he was standing there blatantly agitated shaking his head off and on then just said "I'll just give you the in house discount because I don't have time for this." There literally were no other customers behind us. Smh. He then stormed off after taking our payment. I had half the mind to just cancel our order and go elsewhere. I really wanted to but we were all hungry. I looked my mom in the eyes and told her I will never come back. How are people able to own a business with zero customer service. And I know I'm not the only one that has experienced this. Look through the reviews. I go to say this....be careful of who you upset within the community. He probably didn't even know we were members of the church nearby and our church does regular events there. Don't piss off the people or community that "helps put food on the table". This place has been renamed to Jeffrey's pizza . They give out reward cards to stamp for every visit. After 5 visits you get a free sub. I was eligible for my free sub, but he charged me full Price after I presented my ticket. I will not revisit this place. Maybe this reward is for certain customers. read more

I wanted to start by saying I am a huge fan. This Burtonsville MD location is wonderful, great people! I've been ordering from here for a long time now, and only tried them after Papa John's changed their chicken wing distributor which resulted in miniature wings. Unfortunately, Jerry's Subs and Pizza about a month ago made the exact same mistake. Everything else about this restaurant is fantastic so far; however, I am a chicken wing guy. Previously, they actually had reasonably sized wings, but for the last month or so, what I am receiving is beyond miniature. When my wife opened the box last night her first words were "They are so small!" Literally, they are 50% to 75% SMALLER than before. So, for the exact same price, you and all customers are getting ripped off. If I can figure out how to upload a picture, I will. The wings are less than 3 inches long, and barely an inch wide. Not much longer than your finger, just slightly wider, and at about $1 each it is ridiculous. I could hold all twelve pieces in one hand. As a size reference, FOUR of these wings would literally fit on a $1 bill. [Note: Their buffalo sauce is amazing!] I called the manager today, and he confirmed the change, apologized, and said after they changed they try to throw an extra wing in when they can (they didn't). And even if they did throw in one extra wing, it doesn't make up for the dramatic size reduction. So, if you are ordering anything other then chicken wings, I'd give them a solid 4. For me, the wings change is a deal breaker. Please note that this is not a local franchise issue, it was a corporate change resulting in giving the customer 50% to 75% less for the same amount of money. Sometimes it is hard to figure out how management can be so incompetent. Drop the size by 50% to 75%? Then drop the price by the same amount. Or better yet, go back to the original distributor and keep your customers happy. And if you don't believe me, please order some of their wings and post your thoughts. I can't blame the local store, but my response will be to order chicken wings from someplace else from now on. read more

This a local joint that you come because you are hungry, not a place that you pay big bucks for foods and service. I understand the owner is working himself to death to keep the cost low , you have a choice, either go to other places to pay more or stick with the local to pay for reasonable price for the quick bites. My son got the pizza and said it was the same, I got a Philly double cheesteak and I can tell you it definitely was not the same. There was nothing double about the meat and it was an all together different cheese steak sandwich from which the original Jerry's is. As much as I loved this place the last few years I'm quite disappointed and other than maybe getting a small pizza for my 12 year old I think I'm pretty much done. read more

Cheap pizzas, above average subs, diarrhea inducing appetizers and lighting befitting a rave. This is what you'll find at Jerry's Subs & Pizza in Burtonsville. Food - $6.99 for a large cheese and about $1 per topping. One large and one medium fed 5. The crust is thin and the pizza is greasy, but after my horrendous Jumbo Pizza experience, it was edible but still not enjoyable. The subs are enormous here and are greasy and messy. They're very different from anything you'd get in Philly, but I actually prefer Jerry's. My favorite is the South Street: steak, provolone, and sweet peppers.You have been warned: the appetizers, especially the buffalo wings can cause sharting. Bring your Depends or take the apps to go. Location - The interior is really purple and orange. So much so, that you'll be disoriented when you walk outside and look at your dining companions. I wouldn't recommend staying in here for an extended period of time. Service - The food is served relatively quickly and the staff is ok. For better quick eats, and minimal damage to your retinas, head to Maiwand Kabob across the street. read more

You know, this place has a terrible location. So bad I sometimes accidentally turn into the gazebo/shed store it is right next to, but the people and the food are awesome. I have been coming to this location for maybe 3 or 4 years, usually at least once a week and I am given a smile (well, from most of them. The older fella with the beard is a bit of a curmudgeon, but that's part of the charm). The sandwiches are awesome and the place is located nearby, so I cannot complain. I absolutely love the pizza, after going to get them every Monday after school (and they're cheap as hell, so again no complaint). I cannot stand the Jerry's decor, but they can't really do much about that weird blue and red theme they have going. Place could do without all the gambling and lotto kiosks as well, since it lends a less than savory nature to an otherwise awesome place to eat. read more

Located in a converted 7-11 from years ago, this place has a nice location set back from the main road. It's a place you can get to. It is OK, but not a staple for me, mainly because of the price. It just seems to cost a bit more for food that is good, but not worth the extra price. The pizza is good. Tasty and when served fresh alright. The subs and hoagies are also alright. But for the costs? Nope. I would rather look elsewhere. They do serve beer ~ hooray ~ and the fries are good, of which you can add vinegar. There's a lottery ticket machine inside for discreet gambling and a Pac-Man arcade game as well as a pinball machine (Haven't seen each in quite awhile).
