Busy or slow, they know why we're all willing to pay them for making us dinner. I had a salad last we were there. One option for dressing was using their bbq sauce. Amazing! Burgers and steaks are cooked to order because they pay attention to the quality of their food. Nothing gets sent back to their kitchen, ever. We had a great dinner at Jeffry's BBQ in Paso Robles. There were plenty of menu choices and a good amount of seating, and the heat lamps made it comfortable to enjoy dinner outside. We ordered the chopped brisket sandwich with French fries and the smoked bacon mac and cheese--everything was flavorful, hearty, and hit the spot. The portions were satisfying and exactly what you'd hope for from a BBQ dinner. The only reason this wasn't quite a 5-star experience was that our chili was accidentally left out of our to-go order. Food was taking a really long time (also expensive for what it is), the person taking the order at the counter wasn't that nice to my family that I was translating for nor was the server. After people around us were served that ordered after us, I said "I want my fkn fries" at a totally normal volume to my family privately, and the server (owners gf) heard me (my bad) came over with the owner to scold me lol. Which is crazy bc the owner has cursed at people and called them names in responses to reviews here! He's been so nasty to any low reviews. This place was fabulous. Located in a little alleyway in downtown Paso Robles. You walk into a little outdoor seat, seating space and take a left to order inside. The inside has a walk up order encounter and a few tables towards the back. We ordered a half a rack of ribs, a side of fries, and the pulled pork sandwich with the potato salad. The food was delicious and full of flavor. You can always tell a good rib by the amount of sauce that is on top. Usually when they're slathered in sauce, the meat quality is not as great as when it is drizzled. Our ribs were drizzled with sauce, and after we tasted it, we could definitely say the quality of meat is top-notch. The gentleman who brought our food out to us was super friendly and helpful as this was our first time. They have several heating lamps and a table with a little fire pit in the middle of it to help. We enjoyed a little bit of everything. Our spread included the tri-tip mac and cheese, pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. The sides we tried were ranch beans, potato salad, and creamy coleslaw. My favorite and go-to BBQ meat will always be pulled pork. Their pulled pork is excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed it! The meat was tender and flavorful, and the regular BBQ sauce was the perfect icing on top. The brisket is right up there. My second favorite thing here. The brisket's shredded texture and taste are much like pulled pork. So good. My bf had the tri-tip Mac and cheese. Delish. One of the best mac and cheeses we've tried. I especially loved the side salad addition. I don't normally like salad with my meats, but it was the perfect amount of freshness. My bf and his friend loved the ranch beans. The dill potato salad was interesting. I'm not a huge fan of dill, but I can appreciate the creativity in flavors. I can definitely say you can't get these flavors anywhere else. Good looking food that tastes OK. I ordered the smoked banh mi sandwich. Excellent fusion idea, but poorly executed. The bun fell apart early on in the meal. They should have gone with a baguette like a traditional banh mi. The meat was OK. They smoke on Traeger grills with pellets. That doesn't really get a good smoke flavor on meat. I had higher hopes for a BBQ joint. A lot of good BBQ teams are from California. Maybe this was just a miss or off day. A red flag was they have pulled chicken and chopped brisket. That tells me they cannot hit the right temp on their meats consistently so they just overcook everything. They also serve their bread with Country Crock which is nuts for their prices. The service was OK. I tipped way too much for the knowledge from the counter. She didn't know what they used to smoke the meat, but she did ask. I wouldn't choose to eat here again. read more

Saw this place last night off the alley and was drawn in by the Paella on the sign. We asked about it as it didn't appear on the menu. Took a bit and was told it would be available tomorrowe (Sunday). Saw the breakfast menu and rereturned today. Split a breakfast burrito with brisket and got their soup of the day (corn chowder). The food is DELICIOUS! We had ribs a burger and seasoned fries! The ribs were fall off the bone tender! The burger was perfectly seasoned with all the fixings. This place is a hidden gem in an alleyway. It's all outdoors and they have fans blowing. I ordered the brisket and ribs platter and it came with beans and Mac & cheese. I didn't know it came with sourdough so I ordered a side of it. Also I didn't want the cole slaw but they didn't offer anything I could substitute it with so basically I paid the same price but didn't get one of my sides. The 4 stars is for the ribs and the brisket. The meat was SO TENDER I'm talking fall off the bone tender. I have not found ribs this good in a very long time. Would come back for the meat and mac. Jeffry's has consistently tasty food and reasonably quick service. I've tried the pork, tri-tips and chicken and they're all good. I have yet to try the paella, that is on my to-try list. If they have a weakness, it is that there is no indoor seating (a few stools at the covered bar), making take-out the best option on a rainy day. read more

We ordered DoorDash from Jeffrey's Barbecue Grill today for a company meeting: four tri-tip sandwiches, two Caesar salads, and two chicken salads. The food tasted fine, but it definitely wasn't worth the price. The to-go boxes came with only a few chips, the portions were smaller than expected, and there was only about half the amount of pico de gallo you would expect. For what we paid, the value just wasn't there. The food was decent, but there are much better barbecue places in the area that offer better portions and better overall value. 7/11/2025. Update. I expected the nasty reply from the manager. I had heard he doesn't take well to suggestions on how to improve and bad mouths customers. Well that's been proven. We have been going here to eat for years. Have always enjoyed the food and the vibe. This week we went and the customers before us had a big dog with them which is nice they allow dogs in the patio, however the girl taking the order called the dog over for a treat she had and encouraged the dog to jump up and put his dirty paws on the counter, multiple times, where food was being placed. Real busy but real good. This place runs like a backyard BBQ with serious culinary chops behind it. Even with the crowds, the food came out fast, hot, and packed with flavor -- smoky, tender meats and sides that actually hold their own. Mac and Cheese was great as well as the pulled pork. Poor! Based on the positive reviews, I was looking forward to trying Jeffry's Wine Country BBQ, but unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. When we arrived, no one acknowledged us or greeted us, leaving us standing around waiting to be seated. After we were eventually shown to our table, it was still dirty and wasn't cleaned before we sat down. The table also wasn't properly set with cutlery, and when I was finally given a fork, it was visibly dirty. The food didn't improve the experience. The baked beans looked unappetizing--watery, mashed up, and lacking any texture. After tasting them, they seemed like they had simply been microwaved, with a bland, watered-down flavor. The barbecue meats were slightly dehydrated, and the cornbread had a texture that reminded me of a dish sponge. Combined with the inattentive service and poor attention to cleanliness, the meal was a major letdown. Given the restaurant's reputation and positive reviews, I expected much better. Downtown Paso Robles has so many good eating spots and this place came highly recommended to us while we visited for the day. It's tucked away in Normas Alley and walking up you can smell the delicious bbq smoke. You order up front first and then find seating which is mostly outside from what we could see which was nice for a warm sunny day. I ordered the smoked tri tip sandwich ($17) and the hubby ordered the pulled pork sandwich ($16.50) each with a side of potato salad and shared the Mac and cheese. First, you should know that Apple Maps (maybe Google as well) will lead you to an upstairs salon on 12th Street. The woman at the desk says this happens all the time and led us to a backstairs down to the actual restaurant. I wouldn't want to try these stairs in the dark! Better to enter thru the alley between 12th and 13th street. Most (all?) of the seating is outside. You find the small side room where you place your order. We had a brisket sandwich and a pulled chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich had a lot of pulled chicken but there wasn't any obvious smoke flavor. I prefer a tomato / molasses / cider vinegar sauce with some smoke and heat - what I got was a thin, orange colored sauce without a lot of flavor. My partner found the burger inedible. First of all, thank you Jeffery and his crew, for an incredible smoked tri-tip. We were celebrating our nephew's 18th birthday, and he requested tri-tip. We didn't have to think too long to know, there is only one place in town that could prepare the best tasting tri-tip. We personal spoke with Jeffery to work out all the details and everything went flawless. Our guests were simply amazed at the perfection of how well it was cooked, sliced and that smokey flavor of the tri-tip. It even came with smokey Au Jus. It's been a minute since I pushed away a tray of bbq. 38 bucks for two meat and three sides. The brisket was lacking any flavor beyond some sauce. It along with the ribs were COLD. Not just warm or not hot - cold! I am concerned how long they were sitting at that unsafe temp - maybe I'll find out later. It really sucks when you go to a BBQ joint and the best things on your plate ends up being the macncheese. The brand were okay, they had spice and some flavor. Ginger doesn't belong in sale at a BBQ place. PS: beer was warmer than the meats! Responding to Jeffrey- I find it interesting reading responses like yours when proprietors attempt to put their failure off to the customer and blame me for your miserable attempt at preparing a proper barbeque plate. We went to Jeffry's to support a local school fundraiser. The staff was really friendly and the outdoor setting was lovely, especially at night with the flame heaters going and string lights strung across the patio. The only thing I didn't like was that there was a fair amount of smoke from their meat smoker. We all came home smelling like a campfire. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. I had the mac & cheese with a side salad and the flavors and portions were just right. My husband had a Cobb salad which was hearty and had homemade dressing. My daughter had the vegetarian tacos and said they were good. I enjoyed a cider on tap. I was impressed with their drink selection. We had lunch at Jeffry's Wine Country BBQ on our way out of Paso Robles last month. It was a great stop, right in the cute downtown area we otherwise missed on this visit. We were slightly hung over from almost 24 hours of winey debauchery, and some easy barbecue was exactly what we needed. Jeffry's is a casual spot where you order at a counter and seat yourself. It wasn't too busy when we were there, around 1:00 on a Sunday afternoon. There was a line to order, but it moved fast, and our food came out almost as soon as we sat down. I decided to cap my Paso trip with a soju Bloody Mary, which was tasty and refreshing and sensibly low in alcohol. My husband had a draft beer from There Does Not Exist, a San Luis Obsipo brewery. We split a brisket and ribs combo tray for lunch, which came with two pork ribs and six ounces of chopped brisket, along with house BBQ sauce, mac and cheese, ranch beans, sesame ginger slaw, pickles, and white bread and butter. I also added a cup of the house chili, topped with with shredded cheese and sour cream. Not a huge portion of meat, but there was plenty of food on the table, and everything was quite satisfying. This is the best pulled pork I have ever had in California. The only other pulled pork that competes with this was a luau in Maui. I am immediately teleported. Potato salad is very good also. Quick service, with an outdoor patio for your doggies, and they have heaters when the temp drops -- not to worry. Between both of us, we ordered the combo plate that had all the fixins, ribs, and brisket. Yes yes yes!!! I got a nice IPA but wine is of course also available.
