How have I never heard how great Primal House is? While searching for a new lunch place near Tin City, I came upon some glowing Yelp reviews. I've seen the Primal House sign while driving down the hwy. a ton of times but never questioned what it was. First of all, if you're going there to eat, it's a regular restaurant. I thought that being a butcher shop as well that you'd order at the counter and then seat yourselves. Quite the opposite. Though it's not a full bar (beer and wine only, but a great selection) we sat at the bar. I had the smash burger and hubby had the club. Massive serving. I am so glad I got the single patty as it was totally more than enough. Great food. Nice ambiance. Service was impeccable. Fast forward a couple of weeks later and we stopped by to get some steaks to grill. Beef prices are high everywhere right now, but we got some amazing NY steaks that turned out great on the grill. The butcher shop area has a great selection of produce, bread, pre-made meals, local food products and of course, a very good variety of proteins. It feels good to shop and support local businesses. Will be back!

Overall food was okay. Quality of meat and portion size is what keeping this rating. Setting is very nice with atmosphere. Waitress didn't have any help though, order a bottle wine that must have been offered to three tables taken back and then they came back finally to our table to give it to us. It was very busy on a Saturday and food took a bit to get out. Selection of menu items was good wine and beer list could use some upgrades. Would try them again to give another chance.

What a great place! From the outside, you wouldn't be able to tell how big it is inside. It has a butcher shop, part market, casual eatery, brewery and fine dining. A group of us girls came in for brunch/lunch over the weekend and enjoyed the food, the decor, the layout, the dining room with the brick wall and the hanging lights were just pretty and added to ambience of this restaurant/store. I had the avocado toast on wheatberry bread which was quite delicious. Melanie was our server, she was great and knowledgeable of the menu. She suggested the flat iron steak to one of our friends which she absolutely enjoyed! The place and the restroom are super clean, absolutely spacious and friendly staff.

My daughter took me here yesterday for Father's Day. I must say that we were extremely surprised by the wonderful facility, professional staff and all around fun ambience of the place. It's a combination butcher shop, bakery, craft brewing company and eatery. So fun. Great selection of food, wine and beers. They even make their own sodas from scratch. Everything is locally source or made in house. The owners family are ranchers and they harvest their beef weekly from the family farm. Fantastic place. It's a must stop while you're in town visiting or for locals. They're pet friendly on the patio and we were greeted with music from a local duo. Can't say enough about this place. We'll be back often

I had my share of mediocre burgers in the past. You know the kind where it's hit or miss, or the kind where the first bite is usually just a mouth full of raw onions?! Yeah well, this is definitely not the case here at Primal House. First time visit here, which we stumbled upon just by driving around and exploring. Now this place will definitely be a "must" whenever we come back into town. Ordered the Primal Burger, which in my humble opinion is second to none and probably one of the best I've had thus far! 4oz (x2) of the freshest, most succulent, meat-forward tasting, and perfectly cooked beef (medium rare) you could ever imagine! WOW, just wow! Superb service the day we came and we were also humbled to have met Chef Marcel who just happened to come out to the dining area to say hello. That speaks volumes in my book. Thank you, Chef. As I write this review, I'm already looking forward to trying their ribeye the next time we come back to town! LOL. CHEERS and happy eating till next time...

Service - perfect Food - you can tell they make everything from the freshest ingredients Ambience - very hip and homey at the same time Tip: When you walk in you'll see the market and butcher section. The restaurant is towards the back.

I don't normally give 5 stars however, this place deserves more than 4 stars. My husband and I stopped here from L.A., glad we did. I was craving for juicy burger and this place did not disappoint us. The staff are friendly and our waiter (Clayton) was very friendly. The steak bite was cooked to perfection as well as the burger. Bacon was did not have a fake taste it's really bacon!. Service was fast. We also bought sausage to take home. Definitely coming back, from Santa Cruz.

A very nice fairly new place in Paso by Tin City. Very nice environment with some Stupendous miniature homemade pies if you can get them. The banana cream is the best so far. They were out of them last night

We recently started to get our meat here- it is amazing! All of the meat so far has been exceptional! Today (Christmas Eve) we ordered a tri tip dip sandwich- wow was it totally delicious!!! Hubby and I split it. Yet another surprise was I saw Rosie working there!!! She is such a wonderful human being! This is my new most favorite place EVER and the prices are very moderate Not expensive at all! The staff is always polite! I am a fan!

They haven't officially opened yet but you can come in and get food, beer, homemade sodas, fresh produce, locally sourced meats, and a variety of locally sourced goods. Every staff member is welcoming and very friendly. If you have any questions, just ask. When you come in, it's open and parts remind you of an alley of a time back when. The ambiance is very welcoming and lively. We truly enjoyed the burger and classic Philly. Both good and came with chips. We ordered the fries as well which came with a yummy aioli. Everything was tasty. They did take the plates fast after finishing but all good. While you are at it, pick up some meat to take home with you.

    Great and take some home!!

From the moment we started working with Amy and her team, we knew we had chosen the right place to celebrate such an important day. We were the first full wedding that The Backyard on 13th had hosted. You honestly never would have known it. The amount of care, attention to detail, patience, organization, and professionalism that Amy and her team showed throughout our wedding was incredible. They handled everything with such confidence and made the entire experience feel seamless. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful and has so much character. It gave us the perfect backdrop for our ceremony, photos, and reception, and our guests had nothing but wonderful things to say about the space. We loved that it felt intimate, warm, and personal while still giving us the flexibility to bring our own vision to life. Amy and her entire team went above and beyond what was expected of them. They were incredibly attentive, patient, professional, and genuinely invested in making sure our wedding day was everything we hoped it would be. They didn't just provide us with a beautiful venue -- they made us feel cared for throughout the entire process. One of the things that meant the most to us was how incredible they were with our kids. We had several children who were an important part of our wedding, and The Backyard had a staff member specifically designated to tend to the kids during the reception. This was such an amazing and thoughtful touch. It allowed us to actually relax, enjoy our reception, and be present in the moment without constantly worrying about whether our kids were okay. Knowing they were being looked after by people who were so kind, patient, and attentive made a HUGE difference for us. Your wedding day goes by so quickly, and having a team that you can trust makes all the difference. We never felt like we were just another event on their calendar. Amy and her team made us feel like our wedding genuinely mattered to them, and that is something we will always remember. We are so grateful to The Backyard on 13th, Amy, and the entire team for helping make our wedding day so special. They played such a huge part in creating memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. What started as a relationship with our wedding venue turned into something so much more -- Amy and her team have truly become more like family to us, and we feel incredibly lucky that our wedding brought these amazing people into our lives. If you are considering The Backyard on 13th for your wedding or special event, DO IT! We would wholeheartedly recommend them.

a place that's leaning heavily on shortcuts in the kitchen rather than built-from-scratch…read moreexecution. Here's how your breakdown lines up: Burger (main miss) --frozen patty, no crust, unmelted cheese, weak sauce--usually means: * Pre-formed frozen beef puck (not fresh ground) * Cooked on a grill instead of a ripping-hot flat top (so no smash crust or Maillard flavor) * Cheese added too late or heat too low to melt it properly * Sauce under-portioned or used as a light spread instead of a flavor layer Result: bland, dry, and flat tasting burger Mac & cheese That "pasta + runny cheese water" texture is a classic sign of: * Pre-boiled pasta sitting in liquid * Cheese sauce broken or watered down * Very little actual cheese base (often just milk + starch + seasoning) So yeah--more "pasta dish" than mac & cheese. Salad (surprisingly the win) Good olive oil + vinaigrette can carry a salad hard. That's usually the only thing that doesn't rely on heavy kitchen execution, so it makes sense it stood out. Fries (another win) Crispy, salted fries usually come from: * Proper double fry or high-temp fry oil * Frozen fries done correctly (ironically, frozen can still be great if cooked right) Pulled pork Cheap BBQ sauce + pre-cooked pork is pretty standard for mid-tier spots. Not amazing, but at least it has flavor, unlike the burger. Beer Hard to mess up--good call there. Overall read of the place This is the vibe I'm getting: * Strengths: fryer, sauces (salad dressing), bar program * Weaknesses: grill station, mac & cheese, burger execution * Kitchen style: "assembly + reheating" more than scratch cooking

I was more interested in sampling their collection and it did not disappoint. The host was gracious to let us try several bottles of gin, vodka and bourbon. Personally, to my surprise, I liked the really deep and rich flavors of their top shelf bourbon. The Chocolate Love vodka was quite the surprise. My friend loved it and I had to get at least one bottle through I really should have gotten three. Great vodka flavors with a nice hint of chocolate. Personally, I recommend going inside to get the full service tasting and go outside for a cocktail to enjoy during those wonderful last afternoons.

They said we could get a beer and stand inside the brewery portion behind their outdoor bar area. Apparently they expect their customers to stand inside their open air brewery in the heat. No thank you. We left. Pretty sad since it was late in the day and most businesses were closed. We were there to have dinner close y and thought we would stop for a pre dinner drink. Try it or call ahead and make sure they don't have their air conditioned area closed.
