On Friday evening we were seated right away at a high table for two. The waiter quickly and effectively explained the menu which allows you to mix and match 2 or 3 items to make a meal. My husband chose a black n blue burger slider and French brussel sprouts and I chose a Back to basics berry salad with pesto chicken on it. (They have recommended meats for each salad which was helpful). I really like the raspberry vinaigrette on my salad and the pesto chicken was tangy and delicious as well. My husband said his meal was the perfect amount as we were less hungry than usual after our brunch earlier. A bit louder than I prefer inside, but we could still talk and hear each other. Such a cool concept. The right side of the menu is dozens of different sliders. Which includes burger, chicken , lamb, pork, vegetarian and fish.... Basically something for everyone. If you want sweet, savory, spicy, herby.... What did I miss? They have something for you. There were 4 of us and we all ordered different sliders. There was not a single slider we did not enjoy. The service by Jeff D was also exceptional. Very friendly and attentive. We picked the place as it was featured on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives and it did not disappoint. If you are in the area I would definitely recommend this place for lunch. Craft Eatery which is located in downtown Paso across from the park. The ambiance was really nice. Modern and chic. We liked the design. We ordered 3 different things. This is the feedback from my friends after asking how they liked their food. Food: Pacific Rim salad with sriracha chicken. The salad was good but the chicken was dry. Cow tippin sliders - didn't ask how she wanted the meat cooked. Steak came out rare. Which she ate and said was ok but not preferred. She kept referring to the sliders as sliding everywhere between the rare meat and thick tomato slice. I had the Cabo chicken and summer bbq slider. Cabo chicken slider - The chicken was grilled and leaned on the dry side. I liked the chipotle aioli sauce. I didn't like the thick slice of tomato that came on it. Summer BBQ slider - was my favorite. The pull pork was good. My only suggestion is it could have used more bbq sauce on it as it was very little bbq sauce. The sweet potato fries were good and I liked the seasoning on them but a couple of them didn't feel all the way done. Wine - we had a glass of Quest wine and it was amazing. Def recommend this red if you visit. The service could have been better. There were long gaps in between our server checking in on us. My wife found this place on our most recent visit to Paso Robles - Good eyes! We dropped in on a Tuesday night - we came in after a group of 6 were seated, and were seated within a few minutes. The place was really busy. I could see several flat screen TVs over the bar playing the World Cup, and the bar was slammed. We dithered over the menu - they provided a drink menu and a food menu. I ended up ordering a Trio - which was comprised of a Spicy Tuna sandwich, a Baja Burger (which was also spicy) and their Garlic Fries, which were served with a dish of a very spicy garlic aioli sauce that my wife and I shared. My wife ordered a Duo with a Vacation Mode sandwich which featured pesto chicken, hummus, olive tappanade, and garlic aioli. She really liked her sandwich. She paired that (Duo you get 2) with a California Cowboy Cobb salad, which as you can see in the photos, was quite large. The food was served hot and fresh - the fries were very nice shoestring type, and were cooked properly. I have had "spicy" Tuna sandwiches before - this was the first one which was really spicy - it was perfect. A nice slab of seared tuna as well. The burger was just plain good. They call the burgers "sliders" because they are around 3 inches in diameter. If you have a larger appetite, figure it out. The drinks were good - I ordered the Old Fashioned (if you don't know what that is, try one) and my wife ordered the more exotic Beauty School Dropout, which had Crowbar Pink Gin, Elderflower liquer, lavender and honey syrup, lemon AND lime juice which was served in a chilled cut glass coup glass. Yes, I know I used "glass twice". It was very tangy and refreshing. The place has large doors which were open with seating both inside and outside. There were larger tables for larger groups. I wanted to give star this place from the moment I walked in but there were some minor details that made me hesitant. If I could give it a 4.5 I would've. We got a couple trios including the Benny burger Baja burger with impossible patty, the shrimp Louie, French Brussels, kids Mac&cheese and a burrata and mushroom mac&cheese. Firstly the impossible patty option was a delightful surprise (even if it cost extra again don't understand) for a pescatarian, but the shrimp Louie was lame. Flavors fell flat and it only contained two shrimp. Not a knock your socks off item and it's an upcharge of 2$. I never understand this! shrimp is not expensive. The burrata and mushroom mac&cheese was poorly executed with the burrata being cold on the top of the noodles; not mixed in at all. The vibe of the restaurant is amazing. Very nice decor and very nice clean bathrooms. The bathroom tells you a lot about a place. And I approved! Oh and lastly the wet t shirt contest cocktail was amazing! 5 star cocktail. Sitting at the bar ended up being a great choice! The restaurant has a really fun, welcoming vibe, and everyone on the staff was friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the trio with the Johnny Burger, sweet potato fries, and the Cobb salad, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I honestly wanted to try several other items on the menu because everything sounded so good, but I was completely full by the end of my meal. Taste is one of my favorites. They understood the assignment. Being a foodie I enjoy trying different choices and don't like to waste food either. This is a must stop for me when I'm in the area. The service is always good, the restaurant is beautiful and I love sitting where I can view the park as well. Drink choices are always rotating and lovely but tonight I was just passing through so I passed on indulging in one. The calamari was light and crispy. Usually I always prefer one sauce over the other however both choices were delectable. On to the main course, the Cali-prese salad was so yummy. The mozzarella fresh and soft and the balsamic was wonderful. The Gouda burger was simple but exactly what I was wanting. Every dish here has its own unique flavor and it was a compliment to the other choices. The vacation mode was a chicken slider with olive tapenade, garlic aoli and pesto. We recently discovered Taste Craft Eatery while we were walking around Paso Robles for a fast and convenient place to eat while we were staying in the area. We wanted a place that had some wine and beer and a nice selection of food and Taste seemed to fit our needs perfectly. We didn't have any reservations so we were prepared to wait but we lucked out and were seated immediately out on the patio under a heat lamp. SCORE! Although it was chilly out, the heat lamp was just warm enough to be outside on the patio. It was a great spot to see all the foot traffic and all the holiday lights on display at the adjacent park. We had a wonderful server (unfortunately, I can't remember her name) who explained how we could best sample the Taste experience. We got a quartet of: California cowboy Cobb salad, super power spin salad, gouda burger and a blue bird chicken sandwich plus an order of truffled up fries with a few glasses of Paso Robles wines. Everything was just delicious and the portion sizes were just right so we didn't quite overeat. The restaurant was busy with all of the tables getting turned over with great efficiency. The outdoor patio was filled with joy as we observed families and friends exchanging tales of the weather and their journeys to Paso Robles. We truly enjoyed our first Taste experience and look forward to returning to Paso Robles for another adventure! I hope more people come in to experience all that Taste has to offer! read more

I love this concept: craft sliders covering a range of tastes that you can mix-and-match. It sounds really awesome. But unfortunately, they didn't quite hit the mark for us. We got the Dirty Bird, Banh Mi, Forest Burger, Chimi Chicky, and Vacation Mode. All were not bad, but maybe they weren't having a good day. I liked the Forest Burger because, how can you go wrong with a burger and mushrooms? The more fancy variations weren't as memorable though. The most disappointing one was the Banh Mi, though we can be kinda picky about our banh mi sandwiches, and they made a nice attempt at this Vietnamese staple. We stopped here to get a quick taste of Paso Robles on our way back to the SF Bay Area from SLO. It's situated in the nice square with a charming playground and walking area. Honestly, I came to charge my car at the nearby supercharger. We were lucky though, as this area has a fair amount of traffic at lunch. Getting to the actual craft eatery, we were seated quickly on a Tuesday near lunchtime. Our waiter was polite and patient and even offered to explain their menus. They typically have many slider types that you can choose from in groupings or 1-4 (or more, I'm sure!). We had a hungry teen with us who got 3 of his own. I split a duo with my spouse and got some supplementary appetizers (mushroom flatbread and fries). I found their fare pretty tasty! My slider was the lamb burger which had a nice spice zing to it. It was a little too zingy for my teen though. He still was fine with his other sliders. My spouse had the steak ish burger which was also delicious, if not a bit harder to bite into versus a burger. Some of our group got the Macs and complained that it was watery on the bottom. I opted for the trio and got three different sliders. They aren't terribly big, so you can probably eat multiple if you're hungry. I do wish the sliders came with a different bread like something toasted or buttered. The bread it comes with is very plain. I had the dirty bird, tip o Argentina, and a third one that I forgot the name of. The dirty bird had a grilled chipotle chicken, which was fairly good but I wouldn't order it again. I would say the standout burger is definitely the tip o Argentina - really good chimichurri and aoli and the steak was soft. Taste is such a fun place for lunch or dinner in downtown Paso Robles. I ate lunch on the patio with my Aussie pup. It was such a delightful experience watching all the people walk by. When we walked in, there are ten tables occupied. By 4:30ish, 70% seating occupied. Really like the mini Duo -$17 , Trio-$22 and Quartet- $32 options. You can pick and combine from sliders, Mac, sandwiches, salads and sides. They are all very small portions except the generous fry portion. The service is ok, took about 15 mins to take out order And the food serving time is descent. Located in downtown Paso, I came by with the family for dinner and discovered that this is another Triple D restaurant, so I had to take my obligatory photo with my second son and the Guy Fieri signature pic. Tasty, I've been to the Paso location on a few occasions. The SLO old brick location is where I met the owner and chef back in the day and still a favorite restaurant. So tonight is the Mid State Fair and we are busy driving folks to the concert(s) The boss had to drive tonight and he's buying our dinner, Taste in Paso. Okay Parking can be a challenge for a Sprinter Party Van but luckily I found a secret spot and walked. We had a table along the side wall and it was perfect Our server was excellent, she's done this before. I went with my usual, a couple of Beny burgers and a Cowboy Cobb salad. I am a long time fan of taste from its original location in San Luis Obispo. After moving away and visiting, I had to eat at a taste location! The Paso location is fairly large with indoor and outdoor seating. The decor is very modern inside. Food: the menu can be overwhelming with lots of options to mix and match. I ordered a trio with a cheddar bbq pulled pork Mac and cheese, Gouda burger slider, and mighty melon slider. While everything was tasty, I remembered the sliders being bigger and with different rolls. They prices also have gone up, perhaps after being featured on diner, drive ins and dives. It is $17 for a duo (which we got our almost 1 year old - a bit expensive for a kids meal), $22 for a trio, and $32 for a quartet. You can also get full size salads or appetizers, which I've had in the past. Food is always good, I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order. Drinks: I haven't tried them, but they do offer cocktails now! Service: servers were friendly and food came out reasonably quick. We ordered the quartet, which allowed us to choose four items. We selected the savory sprouts (roasted Brussels sprouts), the mac and cheese made with cheddar cheese and topped with broccoli, the earth patty, and the grilled veggie with sweet potato fries, which came with a chipotle sauce. The fries and the Brussels sprouts were my favorites! We also ordered the flourless chocolate torte for dessert, which was super rich and delicious. Service is great, our waitress was attentive, kind and made good suggestions from the menu. When the food came out, we felt like we were swatting flies in between bites. The burgers are all pretty good, but the French brussel sprouts were slightly over fried giving it a burnt taste. One of my favorite places to eat in Paso Robles! I've been here multiple times over the past years and the food at TASTE! Craft Eatery has consistently been high quality and delicious. They sometimes will tweak their menu so that there is something new to try when you visit. I always go for the Trio (now $22) where you pick 3 items for a set price. You can also go for a Duo or Quartet, both Trio is the best bang for your buck. The best things come in threes! The mini sliders allow you to try various flavors without committing to an entire burger. This time I got the Popper (chipotle chicken with jalepeno, chevre, bacon, and aioli) and Pickle N' Pickle Burger (beef burger with swiss, pickled onions, pickles, burger sauce, lettuce, and tomato). Both were well crafted and tasty. Their brussel sprouts are always a winner too. I've tried multiple flavors and the savory and summer sprouts have been at the top of my list. I love the big strawberries in the summer sprouts. The mac and cheese is a good staple, especially if you are a cheesy carb lover and/or have kids. Previously I noticed that they would just top the mac noodles with a layer of cheese which I didn't like as much. But this most recent visit it seemed like they integrated some cheese into the rest of the noodles too besides just the top. This makes for a better noodle & cheese experience imo :-) Nice service. I like this approach because you can choose how much or how little you want to eat. The cocktails here were great as well. The inside is pretty loud and lively with the cement type flooring and industrial chairs. The service was rather slow, especially once the check got dropped off which was a bit annoying. The nice thing is the server was willing to split our checks by individual which I appreciated, but it's time for these Paso restaurants to invest in the handheld pay machines so the consumer can split checks on their own. read more
