We were in the area (2 hours from home) and come across Parlor Donuts. I was so excited to get my hubby a fresh savory donut. Sadly, the oven were off and no more savory donuts we being made for the day. Daniel was awesome though. He understood we were bummed, but it is what it is. We did get to purchase some sweet donuts though. My hubby devoured his before I could get a photo, but we also got the Rocket Pop, Hershey's S'More Reimagined Campfire and Turtle. Oh my yumminess!!!! Full disclosure - I'm a donut snob, living in the city of Chicago. Sooooo, when we stopped at Parlor Doughnuts, I was not prepared to be blown away by these amazing goodies. Donut lovers MUST stop! This is such a unique and delicious donut experience. The donut dough is so soft, it's layered almost like a croissant with layers of buttery dough. The standout flavors for me and my family are the Sandy Beach (literally tastes like cinnamon roll!!) and French toast! Both so perfectly capture the breakfast treats they emulate. The French toast is buttery, maple-y, and so so good. Though for our family the Sandy Beach was the favorite bite. We also tried the lemon bar, smores and maple bacon. All were tasty and had the same delicious dough, but weren't as shockingly unique and amazing as the Sandy Beach and French toast for us. That said, we devoured our half dozen pretty easily. Our family was recently in Indiana for a short weekend trip but we were not able to stop by Parlor Doughnuts. This location is way closer to our home and we were finally able to check it out and cross it off our to-try list. We stopped by on a Sunday at 8:30 am and all of the sweet doughnuts were well stocked. Savory doughnuts are not available until after 11 am. We went with two sweet flavors. My girls picked the chocolate carnival and chocolate chocolate. Both doughnuts were crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. My husband and I tried the white chocolate blondie blended coffee and we asked for them to make it less sweet and skip the whipped cream. The staff was very accommodating. It was too busy on a Sunday morning. Seating is very limited, especially on the weekends. I think it would have been better on a week day when people are at work. I recommend coming here after 11 am because that's when they serve the savory doughnuts. I ordered a mango passion refresher to drink. I ordered chicken bacon ranch and Hawaiian chicken bbq for my savory, and honey pistachio for my sweet. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The place was a madhouse with mostly kids so, I don't blame them if everything wasn't 100% clean. The honey pistachio was good. Not sweet at all and a big portion. The strawberry shortcake was a bit too sweet for me. The raspberry pistachio was also delicious. The chicken bacon ranch I wished it was as big as the sweet donut. This is more of a snack size for me, not a meal. The chicken bacon ranch is still pretty good. The Hawaiian chicken bbq was decent, not as tasty as the chicken bacon ranch. Yummy delicious donuts. They have really cool flavors that are different than traditional donuts. They are also very large so consider it a meal or split it over a couple meals. The service was great and all of the staff were friendly. I enjoyed the French toast donut and my mom had the peanut butter donut. I have been here twice now. The first time I ordered the strawberry shortcake doughnut, which was absolutely delicious. It had so much flavor and was about $4, but I think it was worth it for a nice treat. I also ordered the zero sugar watermelon drink I did like it, but I felt like it was a little pricey for the size. The second time I came here, I ordered the savory combo. The chicken bacon ranch savory doughnut was very good. The Alfredo base was delicious and you could really taste all the flavors. The croissant was flaky and cooked well. The Parmesan minis were unfortunately very very cold. I don't know if they come like that, but they literally felt like they came from a refrigerator. This is my 2nd time here. I originally came during their initial opening. This time around, it wasn't as busy as I expected. It's a small shop, so there's limited seating. We found a corner booth quickly. The staff were friendly and greeted us right away. It was 10:45a so we missed the cutoff for the pizza topping type donuts. I got an egg and bacon breakfast sandwich, coconut donut, and medium black coffee. Everything was good. The bread in the sandwich was a little toasted but other than that, delicious! I went inside for the first time and the employees were all so friendly. It was about 9 am and empty inside. Everything was clean and I liked the display of donuts up front. I came here to update my review: Don't sleep on the breakfast tacos or the coffee! They sell 2 breakfast tacos for $6.95 and I thought they would be mini, but even 1 bacon taco was enough to fill me up. Like this place so much, I drove from an hour away just to get donuts. I've been here about 4 or 5 times. This time however, it was closer to closing. The employee was boxing up the remaining donuts and looked like he was going to take them home. He said they weren't glazing any donuts and I could pick from what they had left. I usually get the carnival donut which is amazing (and why they're getting any stars from me). I should have just left but I felt like I had busted a mission to come, I should at least get one. I got their seasonal key lime pie donut. Huge mistake. It was awful. It tastes like chemicals. The artificial key lime sauce on top saturated the donut and I couldn't even wipe it off to enjoy the donut base. I feel like if they had decent customer service, they would have given out the donuts they were going to take home instead of charging people for picking from the leftovers. Bakeries have special deals after certain hours too so that their baked goods don't get wasted. That key lime donut deserved to be thrown out though. Two more people came in after me. Both disappointed. A third person showed up after they closed. Clearly it's a popular spot. Makes no sense that they close at 3 on a Sunday. My Brother in law brought some doughnuts home for us to try and they did not disappoint! I tried the cinnamon roll which was my favorite of the two that I did try. I was hesitant as I'm not a fan of dry, flaky donuts. The outer edges looked like a crossaint. It was moist towards the middle and the flavor was great though. The churro doughnut was ok. It didn't quite taste like a churro to me especially with the chocolate on top. My husband tried a maple flavored one and he said it was the best he's ever had! First visit. Pleasantly surprised and glad to discover this place. Delicious donuts--we each had the honey glazed donuts, our benchmark for every donut shop we visit. This one had pastry that is tasty, light, and delicious and the honey frosting is very light and not overly sweet. Texture is nice combination of crunch on the outside and fluffy inside. My husband and I stopped in during a non prime time donut hour, which apparently... all hours are donut hours.. it was great to see they consistently had people coming and going. They have maybe ~20 indoor seats. They also have a drive through for anyone in a rush or just wanting to grab em to go. They do have a case with doughnuts ready to be devoured and they also make them to order. Service was fast. The staff members were patient, friendly, and provided consistent service to everyone. My husband and I shared the turtle cheesecake and a peach cobbler doughnut. They were fluffy, layer-y, light, and delectable. Just an FYI - These are not your old school doughnuts. An Indiana favorite plopped into Bolingbrook! How did we get so lucky?! These doughnuts are anything but the average! A crispy thin crunch greets you from the outside, only to introduce your mouth unto layers upon layers of soft silky inners. The best possible comparison I could come up with would be a cream puff fused with a cronut. We stopped by around 3pm on a Saturday and discovered there were still plenty of options to choose from. The staff were genuinely friendly and seemed eager to help. We took away a half dozen doughnuts and were overly pleased with all. Decadent chocolate options, rich honey flavors, as well as, s'mores, and local favorites. Personally, I think less is more with these doughnuts and look forward getting a simpler flavor next time so I can really linger in the lavish textures of the doughnut itself. They are so fresh and soft you don't necessarily need the abundant toppings but there's definitely a flavor for everyone. Then about 4 staff came in to start their shift which spead up the process. Donuts are huge! They are like a combination of croissant and donut because of the flakiness. I went with a turtle cheesecake donut and it was amazing. Paired with their cold brew, it was delicious. All staff that we encountered were pleasant and friendly. Bathrooms were clean and spacious. I felt that the table set up was a little cramped, especially when the line intertwined the place. If you are a donut lover, check them out. So much so that I wanted to share my love of parlor with a larger group so I ordered a ton of mini doughnuts for a party and had them delivered via uber eats as I did not have time to go get them while I was prepping for guests. I ordered some regular doughnuts as well. The regular doughnuts were perfection as always. The mini-doughnuts which are usually good were hard as a rock and stale. So sad this was how I shared parlor with people that had never tried it before. Some of them were almost inedible they were so hard. And I paid a premium to have them delivered so that was really disappointing. They offer donuts in box size for 2, 4, 6, or 12. So we decided to do 4. Had the French Toast, Sandy Beach (cinnamon roll flavor), peanut butter cup, and Churro. The donuts reminds me of a croissant having many layers. The toppings are very sweet/sugary, but are delicious. My favorite is the French Toast. They provide plastic knives and forks, so I was able to cut mine in half as they are pretty big. Also had the iced Mocha with almond milk. It had a stronger taste then their regular coffee. The regular coffee is just basic coffee and nothing special stands out to me. Definitely got a sugar overload. They do offer some breakfast items on their menu. Which will have to try another time. I ordered a donut this morning and as most places these days, there's a bit of a wait, but it's a Saturday and I completely expected that and of course there's always new people training at these kinds of places so you have to give some grace. Well, I get up to the drive through window and a very sweet and pretty lady leans out and very calmly says, you've had to wait a while today, and I happen to be the owner so I can do whatever I want, and she hands me my doughnut and smiles and says have a great day... without taking any payment!! It completely made my day and I will be back more often just because of the kind gesture and willingness to make things right!
