The place looked ok when walking in. The hostess ignored us and was chatting with someone though we were the only ones waiting for a table. Food was not good. Both sandwiches ordered were burnt. Found a piece of plastic in my son's Mac n cheese. Was told it was a mistake and sorry for the inconvenience. A person can get cancer from it and their response is sorry for the inconvenience? Didn't realize getting people sick fell under the category of inconvenience. Obviously, we will never go back. Let's see if management cares enough to contact me on this. read more

She ordered the banana nut bread French toast She opted for a small portion of the chocolate chips as it usually loaded with it .thank goodness as it was sweet already . I liked it But it was not for me. When I want breakfast I want something more classic So ordered a build your own omelette. For $9.99 you can choose up to 4 ingredients. I had mine-made with asparagus , mushrooms, with cheddar jack & chorizo . I asked for easy on the cheese as that's how I like my omelette It came out perfect. It was not salty more greasy. It tasted so homemade. Surprisingly the cheese was placed on top not was inside which different but surprisingly good. Asparagus were cooked too perfection & mushrooms tasty. The chorizo gave it a nice crunch. I would definitely get it again. The service was impeccable. I forgot our servers name but once I told her I was a newbie. She came back with their own version of the beignets with a side of homemade not overly sweet jelly. OMG these were to die for and it was on her. I would have paid for it because it's that good. What a fantastic find. I ate here because my best Chicago friend knows the owner and recommended it. My waffle was soft and the strawberries on it were fresh with the great compliment of Nutella. I'll let you be the judge whether my one star rating is justified. I parked in their parking lot and the large nail that held those concrete barriers one parks in front of was totally sticking out and forward about three inches past the concrete. Our bumper was totally mangled by this nail . I told the owner about this situation that they were not taking care of their parking lot and called the police to report it. Sheriff made a unilateral decision that it was my fault for not seeing the nail ( which one cannot see when behind the wheel). I say unilateral because he said he called Palatine police to come out and wanted to see how they would call it. Obviously it was kind of a gray area. Palatine police didn't want to come so he said one should always park away least 3 feet away from those things ( every other car was parked over the concrete!)( I certainly don't appreciate the sheriff being able to be judge and jury in this case also) Whatever the decision I could tell from the young owner's face that he didn't care ( never even came out to talk to me until I had to get him) and had the gall to say it was totally my fault ( of course after he heard the police's decision) and not even a sorry when I asked if the was anything he can do to help out a customer . Not even help with the bill or even free coffee! Now I have to replace the whole bumper because of his negligence of the lot. Been going to Jelly for years. In fact my wife and like it so much we had our rehearsal brunch there. Haven't been able to go as often as we'd like but made a special trip today for breakfast to try their new chicken sandwich and country fried steak. Both were OUTSTANDING. We stopped into Jelly cafe lady weekend with our toddler. We got there in a Sunday around 9-9:30am to beat the crowd. The place was very busy, but we were seated right away. By the time we were finished there were a lot of people waiting to be seated. The interior is very nice and updated, we really liked the decor. They even have two patios for outdoor dining. Our waitress was prompt and very nice! We enjoyed her candor during our meal and she was very sweet to our daughter. Our food came out fairly quickly and it was very good. We enjoyed everything! The house made jelly was amazing as well. Overall we loved our visit and will be back to try other dishes. The place isn't very large, so we will try to avoid peak times. I opted for the veggie skillet and this was very good. I really enjoyed that it wasn't super greasy and heavy as how many skillets could be. Potatoes were perfectly cooked which was just slightly crispy on the outside. Jelly Cafe has been on my list of breakfast places to try for a while and I'm glad we finally got to go. It was Monday mid-morning, when we went for breakfast, so not very busy. Yay, a cute new breakfast place with awesome food and Bloody Mary's (didn't have one this time). The food was very good. It's the basic breakfast joint with skillets, omelets, all the sweet, fluffy carb things, salads and sandwiches. We all enjoyed it. I mean, Smuckers who? Skillets were very fresh, full of flavor, filling and reasonably priced. Side of pancakes came with well whipped butter and were fluffy and wonderful. You get a pot of coffee on the table to refill at your leisure. If you don't finish it, they offer to go cups. The place, though new, runs like a well oiled machine even though it was busy. I'm assuming they were trying to time it with my boyfriend's food but it had been sitting out too long.
