My family and I went for an early dinner on a Sunday. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were seated immediately. It was not a big crowd at that time so it was easy to be seated. Our server was possessed a high level of customer service, giving us recommendations because we let her know it was our first time. Throughout our time there, she was very attentive but not overwhelming. We got the spicy edamame and chicken gyoza for appetizers. The edamame was SO good! It was soaked in a spice garlic type sauce that was perfection. My husband and daughter shared the chicken gyoza (all while sticking their fingers in my edamame). Six gyozas came in the appetizers. They really enjoyed them and appreciated them being cooked through so they weren't soggy. For dinner my daughter had the pink panther sushi and kept saying how fresh and good it was. My husband and I got Hibachi, he the chicken. He loved it!! I had the spicy chicken but substituted the chicken for shrimp because I'm pescatarian. Delicious! The food was so fresh and it was just enough. Normally all Hibachi tastes almost the same but the spices, freshness and sauces they use made a big difference. We usually have so much food left over but we had enough to take home but not an overload. As we exited, they all bid us farewell and safe travels. We will definitely be back. read more

This is going to be one of my new favorite sushi places to eat. I am a little new to the Heights area (moved here less than 6 months ago), and I love discovering new sushi places. One of my friends and I came here for dinner one evening after work to catch up. This place has really great quality sushi. Be prepared to splurge if you do come here though, but it is honestly worth the splurge! The fish here is just so fresh and the cuts are honestly pretty bigger than I expected. The service was fantastic. They were very attentive and were refilling our waters frequently and everything came out in a very timely manner. The sushi rolls here are definitely unique and they are not what you would find typically at other sushi restaurants. Of course, they did include the typical basic ones that you would find too at other sushi restaurants though. What my friend and I ordered that I recommend: -salmon carpaccio (salmon cuts are actually very generous) -pink panther roll (if you're a kani lover, this is a MUST) -citrus hamachi roll (the kimchee ponzu sauce is SO good) -kpop salmon roll (highly recommend if you're a salmon lover) -salmon sashimi (cuts are generous and flavor is so fresh) -escolar sashimi (cuts are generous and flavor is so fresh) -sweet shrimp sushi (10/10, would recommend. It tastes SO fresh and delicious. Love that they deep fried the head so you can eat that too) I will definitely be coming back here. read more

We love trying new sushi places, so jellyfish popped up on our radar. We picked up to-go and the food was packed up nicely with soy sauce, chopsticks and napkins. We ordered the salmon sashimi, 2 orders of the spicy chopped scallop, and 3 of the speciality rolls. The rolls were the citrus hamachi (Shrimp tempura, salmon, soy paper, yellowtail, kimchee ponzu, cilantro, purple onion), orange dragon roll (Tuna, red snapper, top w/spicy salmon, spicy mayo, cilantro), and the be someone roll (Salmon, spicy tuna, cucumber, avocado, spicy mayo, fried garlic, micro greens). The salmon sashimi was good and tasted fresh. The spicy chopped scallop was ok. I've liked it at other sushi places better and probably wouldn't order again. The citrus hamachi was our favorite roll. It was a great balance between the shrimp tempura and the salmon with yellowtail and the kimchee ponzu was very good as well! The purple onion gave it some nice texture and complimented the roll well. The be someone roll was our next favorite while the orange dragon roll was our lease favorite. There was such an overwhelming amount of spicy Mayo on the orange dragon roll that it's all I could taste. I would recommended asking for the spicy Mayo on the side so it doesn't take away from the fish in the roll. read more

Don't be fooled by the outside. Looks ordinary but when you're inside, you know you'll be satisfied with what you're getting. While it's not the best sushi I've had, it's pretty damn good here. All the rolls looked tempting but we decided on the citrus himachi (very good), kpop salmon (must order if you love salmon), rainbow roll (variety of dishes and simple) and a spider roll (not bad). We also started with the tuna tataki (amazing) and the kali salad (interesting texture). We failed to realize how much food was here so we took most of it home. But what did you expect when you have myself and a foodie friend who wouldn't have it any other way? I'm glad this place is near me as I look forward to trying the other items here. Started becoming a regular thinking I've found a new fav sushi spot, but the last time I dined here over the weekend, I was pretty disappointed. Not sure what's going on back of the house, new chefs, or change of vendors or ingredients, but it did not meet the expectations I was used to from my last few visits. We came here on a Sunday right as they opened, however, we were met with truly mediocre presentation and everything just felt a bit off. Call it a hunch or a bad day, but something was off.... Sushi didn't taste the same. Rather than fresh wasabi they used the powdered kind...and instead of giving us presentation, they squirted spicy Mayo straight along the sushi and didn't put the same garnishes we were used to seeing. Also, I'm pretty bummed that they took off their ahi nachos...which was a great balance and added flair to their menu. read more

This review is regarding their rolls. I will say that the other options on the menu are intriguing. Their rolls are delicious and there are around 8 pieces a roll. Not picture, pink panther roll. This one was fried and a little more savory, yet delicious. The wasabi tuna roll I wanted to be more spicy, yet there were some pieces that came with the heat, so I can't complain too much. The hamachi was fantastic. The kpop salmon was also on point. Even the seaweed salad (let's be real. It's hard to mess up) was great. The space is small. The service was great. Can't wait to actually try the nigiri and habachi and or teriyaki chicken/salmon plates. This place is worth the visit. And they are NOT byob any more (not that I've been there prior). Go, enjoy, and support this place. If you love rolls, you owe it to yourself. Just like most Americanized sushi places, there is no wasabi in-between the sushi and the rice. read more

First time here. Arrived around 1:30 on Sunday for brunch. A couple of tables were occupied close to the end of their meals. Ordered a bowl of Chirishi which came with a miso soup. Food came out soon as there were not other tables for food. Miso Soup taste fine with tofu and kelp. Menu said 12 pieces of Chef choice sashimi for Chirishi. Mine came with a piece of cooked shrimp, imitated crab stick and slices of octopus as complimentary on top of the 12 pieces sashimi which was a nice surprise. All pieces I had tasted fresh and good. Sushi Rice had vinegar which was made and cooked right. I'm happy with the ambience and service overall. Will be back! read more

Jellyfish Sushi is our go-to sushi place. Always fresh, always food, great service. And, fortunately, never a wait. I'm not sure why because it is so good. We always go on weeknights, so I'm not sure about Friday and Saturday nights. It does have brighter lighting, not necessarily a trendy, date-night atmosphere. That's probably why. All of this to say, if you drive up and don't see many cars or the restaurant isn't full, do not be afraid to try it. It's delicious. The Citrus Hamachi Roll is our all-time favorite. Please never stop making that one. I have 1 child who will not eat sushi. We are thankful they have chicken nuggets and fries for him. Thank you, Jellyfish, for making our family happy. read more

This is my favorite casual sushi spot! You can come in as your are and get delicious sushi that isn't crazy expensive but still delicious! The servers are happy to help you find something you like and there is great hibachi food for all of the non-sushi eaters! My favorite rolls by far are the Crazy Irishman and the Citrus Hamachi. I also love their spicy edamame! Their to go online ordering is great too and you avoid any of the service fees from other companies! read more

Giving it 2 stars because our waitress was attentive and it was a clean and nice atmosphere. The bad- Our nigiri was incredibly dried out- pretty sure you can even see that in the photo. They took the order of a couple who sat down maybe 2 minutes before me in front of me. I will never come back to this place. They seem to be the last man standing in this dining hall, and with this kind of customer service, they won't last much longer. It's a shame because I love the food and I am a regular at handies and aiko as well. Won't be back to any of them.

The flavor was soothing and subtle, almost like tea. It was exceptionally easy to drink, and the ocean-themed ceramicware was a beautiful touch. We ordered two rolls: the Shaggy Dog and the Truffalufagus (a fun tongue-twister). I personally chose the Truffalufagus (which is not fun to spell) because it seemed like the most unique dish on the menu, and I enjoyed it very much. What I liked most about it was that it was subtle yet impactful. I also loved the textures--from the internal crunch paired with the fresh jalapeño to the softness of the fish. Recently checked out this sushi spot. The fish is ridiculously fresh--it melts in your mouth. The staff are super friendly, like they're genuinely happy to see you. And get this, our food came out faster than I expected, which is always a plus when you're hungry! Plenty of parking too, so no stress there. Whenever me and my wife want sushi, this is one of our favorite places in Heights, Garden oaks area. Sushi is always fresh, portions are good, and the service is always on point. We ordered in a few times and the sushi is always nicely presented and the packaging makes it very convenient to eat. Rolls that we recommend are Citrus hamachi and the Kpop salmon. I got the smoked salmon shishimi and the peppered tuna shishimi and they were so so so good!!! We also got the jellyfish roll (as seen in the picture) and it was the best roll I have ever had. My husband and I love Jellyfish. There aren't any rolls we don't like but our favorites are the pink panther, citrus hamachi and k-pop salmon. All the rolls taste really fresh and the service is excellent every time, even when the restaurant is busy. It's well decorated so it works well for a date night but we've seen lots of children here too. Definitely recommend! read more

The vibe was moody and lightly lit, and the restaurant was busy with people celebrating. I ordered the sunomono, maguro crudo, salmon and king crab hand roll, and signature nigiri. The hand rolls were probably the best thing I've ever had, I even ordered an additional spicy tuna hand roll because I wasn't ready for them to be over. My sister even ordered another flight of nigiri because it was so phenomenal. To finish, I ordered the ube sponge cake, which was the perfect little treat to end the night. Seriously, I'll be dreaming about this meal. If I'm back in Houston, I'll definitely be coming back!

Finally got a chance to try Aiko! They also offered $25 HRW 3-meal course w/ $6 add-on for a small…read moredessert bite for lunch. Service was excellent. Love the decor; super chic. There were lots of rubber ducks scattered everywhere lol. Ordered a carajillo and the drink tasted GREAT! On the other hand... I sipped from each of my friends' ube espresso martini (did not taste the same between both drinks, bartender might have poured too much alcohol; couldn't appreciate any ube flavor). Not a fan of that drink (2.5 stars or less). HRW order - 1st: sunomono (cucumber) - 2nd: hotate crudo (delicious scallops!!) - 3rd: spicy tuna & sake handrolls - dessert add-on: matcha mochi (ok, can skip this) Other foods ordered: - karaage: chicken was well made, lots of flavor - sashimi (3pc): saketoro, madai, & hotate - unagi nigiri: eel was really good - spicy scallop handroll Even if you don't need to use the restroom, you should still check out the bathroom. The walkway was a pretty bamboo forest haha. Aside from the ube espresso martini, everything else was delicious and good! I recommend Aiko and would dine here again.
