I went in on a Saturday to get a dress altered and she means business! Immediately she said hi, pointed me to a fitting room, and started asking questions. I loved it. Absolute professional. I walked out and she said I needed nothing done. She adjusted my straps and told me with the shoes my dress was perfect. She was honest and straightforward and I'm bringing all my clothes to her from now on. I even asked her if the straps needed to be more secure and what her opinion was of a second slit. She gave me her feedback and told me it was unnecessary when a lesser person would've taken my money. She's an expert and she's amazing. I'll be back. I'll pay whatever she tells me because I know she's honest. These are the people we need running businesses.

When I came for my scheduled follow up appt 2 weeks later, she was not there nor was my dress in the store. I made another appointment, when I showed up, she had not done the sleeves, and the adjustment to the bodice was bad and she had changed how the zipper laid. In total, I went to her place 5 times before taking the dress to another person, 3 of those 5 times she was no show/reschedule. Mary was very mean to me, demanding that she never said certain alterations were included, like bringing in the sides, and I had to produce the receipt she had written it down on. After seeing her handwriting, she then said very mean things about my body and made me cry. The other alterations person said she did the bodice and the zipper in a non professional way. Mary said she would give me a half refund of $250, of which she only has given $80 bc I showed up in person asking and it has been 3 months of me asking. I think if your a UCLA student looking to get pants hemmed, her store would be a great fit, but I would avoid for any wedding or complicated things. Make sure you take a picture of what you drop off and have her write down what she's agreed to do -- she spent a lot of time saying untrue things, and then I'd show her the picture of how the zipper looked before she messed it up, etc. Included is a picture of her work where she 'fixed' the bodice chest part.

A pink crochet dress that was 2 sizes too big and magically altered it everywhere. 2. My Monique Lhuillier wedding dress. I couldn't trust this piece to just anyone, but was convinced she would be the hands to do it especially after she told me she used to make wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses. So, her design background was extremely valuable to me. She was able to hem it from the middle as the bottom hem was untouchable because of the design, changed the dress to a halter at my request and hand sewn the lace pieces back into place- masterful ! It was a rush job (2 weeks) but It fit me like a glove on my wedding day with so much ease and joy! 3. My wedding reception dance dress It had vertical tulle that was NOT easy to trim but she DID it , made me a slip, and made it into a halter with 2 invisible buttons to adjust the length. 4. Hemming my bridesmaid dress. No picture but it was hemmed about 5 inches to perfection. Eventhough I live outside of LA now, i will still only trust my dresses to her! There were several alterations done--adding a bustle, shortening the train and sleeves, and more. I largely trusted her judgment based on the reviews. She also suggested adding a zipper on the side to make it easier to get in and out of the dress, which I agreed to. The total quoted cost was $600. At my fitting, I immediately noticed significant rippling along the side where the zipper was added. It was also an extremely long and visible zipper. Since the dress was fitted, the rippling was especially noticeable. I pointed it out and asked for it to be corrected, and she said she would fix it. She also said "it's like that because we added the zipper, and also because the dress is a stretchy material" and I said "if I knew that would happen I wouldn't have added it lol" When I returned, it had improved slightly but was still a major issue. I also noticed several snags in the fabric, and the lining was far more visible than it should have been, you could see it clearly underneath the dress throughout the night. At first, I thought I might be able to live with it, but ultimately I couldn't. I tried calling to come back in, but didn't get a response quickly enough, so I went to another tailor in Santa Monica to have it fixed, which ended up costing $30. They said the zipper that was added was way too flexible and replaced it one that was more stiff. Overall, while the experience started off positively, the quality of the alterations and the need for last-minute corrections made it stressful and disappointing.

When I brought this to her attention she tried to blame it on the brand for shipping me "uneven jeans" because she refuses to take accountability or give refunds. Now I am down $300 + $25 and left with an unwearable pair of jeans. WORST TAILOR, do NOT take your clothes here.
