Do not reccommend for wedding dress alterations. Took my dress in 3.5 months before wedding, she was so nice and talked me into paying more for her to design sleeves. I paid half up front. When I came for my scheduled follow up appt 2 weeks later, she was not there nor was my dress in the store. I made another appointment, when I showed up, she had not done the sleeves, and the adjustment to the bodice was bad and she had changed how the zipper laid. In total, I went to her place 5 times before taking the dress to another person, 3 of those 5 times she was no show/reschedule. Mary was very mean to me, demanding that she never said certain alterations were included, like bringing in the sides, and I had to produce the receipt she had written it down on. After seeing her handwriting, she then said very mean things about my body and made me cry. The other alterations person said she did the bodice and the zipper in a non professional way. Mary said she would give me a half refund of $250, of which she only has given $80 bc I showed up in person asking and it has been 3 months of me asking. I think if your a UCLA student looking to get pants hemmed, her store would be a great fit, but I would avoid for any wedding or complicated things. Make sure you take a picture of what you drop off and have her write down what she's agreed to do -- she spent a lot of time saying untrue things, and then I'd show her the picture of how the zipper looked before she messed it up, etc. Included is a picture of her work where she 'fixed' the bodice chest part. read more

Mary is the BEST ! I've been to a good handful of tailors in the westside and she does amazing work at a great price ! I've brought 4 dresses at this point. 1. A pink crochet dress that was 2 sizes too big and magically altered it everywhere. 2. My Monique Lhuillier wedding dress. I couldn't trust this piece to just anyone, but was convinced she would be the hands to do it especially after she told me she used to make wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses. So, her design background was extremely valuable to me. She was able to hem it from the middle as the bottom hem was untouchable because of the design, changed the dress to a halter at my request and hand sewn the lace pieces back into place- masterful ! It was a rush job (2 weeks) but It fit me like a glove on my wedding day with so much ease and joy! 3. My wedding reception dance dress It had vertical tulle that was NOT easy to trim but she DID it , made me a slip, and made it into a halter with 2 invisible buttons to adjust the length. 4. Hemming my bridesmaid dress. No picture but it was hemmed about 5 inches to perfection. Eventhough I live outside of LA now, i will still only trust my dresses to her! There were already lots of bad reviews about this place which I shouldn't have ignored and I want to write about my experience so people take it more seriously. I had a Ralph Lauren men's jacket and pants that needed to get shortened in length and had to take it on my flight for the holidays. She asked for $20 for the pants and $35 for the jacket sleeves which were very reasonable and she said she'll finish in 2 days. When I went to pickup she had lost the cover and the hangers, it was raining outside so she put them in a plastic bag without letting me to check first! I insisted that I want to check the work before paying and I couldn't notice any difference what so ever in the sleeves!! I asked her did you shortened the sleeves really?! To which she answered yes and I was amazed in what a high quality job she has done for so cheap!!! But having some experience with sewing and alternating I still wasn't fully believing it. Until after I flew to my boyfriend and we found that nothing was changed!!! Honestly if it was just the pants i could've done it myself without paying $55 and being lied straight to my face. I come to Mary for any alterations I need. She consistently does high-quality and creative work. She is so friendly and warm and I feel like we can co-create looks I want together. For example, I brought her a few jackets that belonged to my late grandfather, who was much bigger than me. She is helping me transform them into something I can wear regularly and keep a piece of my grandpa close to me :) As another example, I recently found an amazing dress at a thrift store that was 2 sizes too small. No worries! With a little bit of work, she was able to make the dress work for me and look brand new. I had a horrible experience. Mary herself is nice and well-intentioned, but deadlines and appointments were not honored. I gave her a call on a Saturday and she said she could be at her shop by 3:15PM. I gave her extra cushion time so I said I'd be there by 3:30PM. I roll up on time and she's in an Uber 15 minutes away. I had another appointment right after so I couldn't wait long. She had my number and I wish she had called me ahead of time letting me know she'd be late. Then, when the outfit was supposed to be ready, I called giving her an expected time of my arrival. But she couldn't find my outfit. I have to describe in detail and after 5 minutes of discussion, she miraculously places it. She requested I arrive earlier than the time I proposed so when I did arrive ahead of schedule, per her preference, I was surprised she wasn't there. I called her and she had an injury so it explained why she had to suddenly leave. Her injury seemed legitimate so I was fine to come back the following day. Still, giving me a heads up would have been appreciated. I called the next day and told her when to expect me and she said the outfit was finished, but I arrived to find it wasn't done and I had to sit and wait for her to finish it. When she finishes, we look at the outfit and she made the alterations INSIDE OUT. I then have to wait for her to do it the correct way. She was nice throughout the whole process, but expectations, including deadlines and appointment times, were regularly not met. read more
