WARNING: DO NOT GO TO THIS TAILOR John quoted me $75 for a simple hem and then proceeded to charge my credit card over $800. When I asked him to cancel it, he claimed he didn't know how and needed to call someone. After spending a while trying to figure it with him, I realized he was trying scam me because as soon as I was talking to my dispute center at my credit card company did he suddenly figured out how to reverse it. On top of that, there's no AC, so unless you want to try on alterations sweating in a tiny wooden box behind a thin curtain, I would not recommend. read more

Took a pair of jeans here for a simple hem. Got them back and they're too short with one leg shorter than the other. I took the newly altered hem out myself to see if they were salvageable. Isabel has been altering our family wardrobe for a few years now and she is a true artist. She does everything from simple alterations to a complete transformation of dresses. I had a sequin evening dress that had an open corset back that I wanted closed. Isabel took piece from the bottom as the dress needed some shortening and used that piece to close the back. It honestly looked like that dress was made that way! I couldn't believe how great it looked. She also altered my friends wedding gown. I found a Paul Smith men's blazer that I absolutely loved and decided to buy it even though I'm a slim but curvy woman and therefore the jacket fit a bit boxy. I took the blazer to Isabel and in 24 hours she transformed it into the perfect jacket and she did it without disturbing the uniqueness of the blazer (the fabric has sashiko embroidery in places). I brought a comforter to Isabel and asked her to stitch it down since the inside was getting bunched up. Without asking, she cut it open and threw out the inside of it. Then she told me she would be able to get a fabric for it the next week to fill it, and that she would give me a call. I never heard from her stopped by after about three weeks. She said she hadn't gotten around to it and would give me a call soon. Again, I didn't hear from her, so I went in again over a month later and still nothing. Then, she told me I could go downtown, buy the fabric, then bring it to her. She couldn't actually tell me what I needed or where to get it. Isabel had my comforter for over two months. I ended up just buying a new one and will not be returning to Isabel. read more
