DELICIOUS! I only buy if I know someone else is around to help because I just can't leave it alone!!!

I go to Jen's all the time , I pay all the time when I'm there , I'm polite , and I always tell them to have a great day. But two events occurred that I've tried to brush off. The first event that occurred was when I went to Jen's to simply grab a few pieces of candy because I didn't have too much change on me. I grabbed some stuff and a few pieces I got were a bit over the amount I had. Instead of kindly saying that an older woman that's always at the register told me,"If you know you don't have enough money don't bring all of this up here" I found it rude but I assumed she had a bad day. The second interaction happened today. I came in with a few cents in my pocket to pay for some candy and leave like I always do I go to Jen's all the time. I pay , and I'm always nice. She followed me around , hovered over me when I tried getting what I needed , stared me down as soon as I came in , and I am an African American woman. She stared me down and when I went to the register she asked me if I had anything in my pockets when I went to ask her how much money in change I had. I was flabbergasted. She stared me up and down and made me feel unwelcome. I simply put what I already grabbed back and left. I did say,"No offense but if you're gonna think I'm stealing then I won't shop here." And I left. They're always in a rude mood when there and almost never nice. I went back later just for an explanation as that's a local store. They both said it's because they thought I put things in my pocket I told her I didn't and she shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes. I asked why she would think that I always pay. I didn't get anything only that she thought I was stealing. I don't know if it's because I'm African American but this environment makes me feel unsafe due to the energy , the glares , and the rude comments. read more

What a wonderful little shop of delectable treats!!! They bake cake pops, candies, cupcakes, Rice Krispie treats, chocolate covered chips and specialty pazzels, cookies, and so much more. They are kind as well. Customer service is awesome and sweet like their treats . I got 4 cupcakes for my daughter's birthday and they included a birthday pick and candle. That's special care. They are located in Cudahy on a corner. All I had to do was follow my nose because wow- I asked her what smelled soooo good and she said she was baking a strawberry rhubarb pie!!! I can't believe I've never stopped in here before, the inventive homemade desserts and soups are great! Wanted to get our two teens something different than store bought candy for Halloween, and Jeni's was the perfect place. Inventive Carmel apples, cake pops, S'mores treats, and unique cupcakes were all a big hit! Grabbed a few homemade soups from the cooler- the Cheesey Chicken Enchilada and Chicken and Dumpling- both were great. Dare I say that the Chix dumpling was almost as good as my grandma's?! My wonderful cousin bought me a four-pack of gourmet cupcakes from Jen's for my birthday. Yum-O! Cupcakes consisted of a S'More, Samoa, Cheesecake w/ a Snickers on top and Peanut Butter Cup w/ Reese Peanut Butter Cup on top. 4/5 stars because I personally prefer a very moist cupcake. Might be good sweets but I might never know. Tried to order a birthday cake for an event a week out and was told they were not able to take an order because they were "booked" out until mid October. Never heard of such a thing from a bakery. I know they need some lead time, but that's kind of ridiculous. Well my review doesn't include treats because I didn't get that far. My husband and I went in for the first time on Saturday to get a yummy treat to share with our toddler. As others have noted the woman appeared put off by my presence and didn't respond after I said hello. There was a gentleman that said hello when he came out from back. There were no prices listed any visible and the woman made me uncomfortable to ask. The cupcakes looked good but there were a few flies in the case, which was very off putting. The overall cleanliness of the bakery was off putting. We did not end up purchasing anything. We're new to the area and we were so excited to have a bakery around the corner. Oh well. read more

Odd worker demeanor, it seemed like I was interrupting their work when I came in to find some sweet treats. There were four of them making final preparations of delicious looking desserts and it didn't seem like anyone's job to take care of customers coming in to purchase though the sign said open and it was almost lunch time. One woman enthusiastically greeted me on entry but then went into some back area. I was looking at some individual pies in the glass casing and got a grudging "can I help you?" and just before I asked for what would have been my first choice I noticed it was covered in insects. I pointed it out sotto voce and the youngish worker kind of shrugged and with an air of nonchalance and ennui said "really?...Sorry." Made no effort to remove the bugs or even look to see what I was talking about. I didn't have time to go any place else so I got a couple of other things and when I delivered the goods I realized I had paid for a cake pop (a little cake on a stick) that wasn't in the bag I called up. Again with the disinterested affect, "really? Oh, well come back and you can pick it up." I don't think I will bother. read more

After everything I read on FB and heard on local news about Jen's Sweet Treats, I couldn't wait to stop by and support her and her business. I also wanted to make a donation to Officer Matthew Rittner. I don't live close by but today I was in the area so I stopped in. It was not a pleasant experience. I wasn't greeted so I greeted her. From the back room she did tell me she'd be right with me and I told her to take her time since I had to whittle down my selection from one of everything in the store to six muffins/cupcakes. I attempted over and over to engage her in small talk and she was definitely NOT interested in anything I had to say. While I was making my selections, a younger guy came in. He was pleasantly greeted and called "hon," then told she'd be right with him. While paying I made another attempt at conversation and again I got abrupt responses. Not once during my visit did she speak pleasantly to me or smile. After I finished, she immediately turned her attention to the guy after me and asked "what can I do for you hon?" I was dismissed at that point. She didn't say any of the usual things you traditionally hear after a sales transaction, such as thank you or have a nice day or I hope you enjoy your treats. I don't expect anyone to fall all over me, oozing with gratitude. As for me, I always thank a merchant for what was provided to me - because I appreciate what I received. In turn, it seems like my saying that would trigger a similar response from the merchant. Not in this case. It's so rare not to have a merchant say thanks and goodbye, in some form or another, that I was really taken aback. My excitement at being in a new store - overflowing with an abundance of mouth-watering sweets, all mine to purchase - was ruined. I'm not saying I expected her to act as though she's in a Miss America pageant because she deals with the public, but I sure was led to believe she is above and beyond all others, again based on the many news stories I've seen. My daughter insists we stop in here anytime we're near Packard Ave; which is almost constantly since we live in the C-U-D. The cupcakes are always moist and really, really tasty. But, Jen's really kicked it up a notch for me when I brought my daughter in to order cupcakes for her birthday party. They spent time going over flavor, frosting, and decorations. I joked that she spent more time ordering cupcakes than I did my wedding cake. They made her feel very special, and the cupcakes will be a hit on her big day. I went here for ham and rolls. The ham tasted like sweet cinnamon and the rolls were not that fresh. There were a lot of flies in the store as the door was wide open. The candy was stale. I did get chili and another pasta salad, we'll see. Too many other great places to go. read more

I recently lost both my job and my place to live. Having given up on life, I decided I needed a good cupcake. I was currently a couple blocks down the street and stopped in. If there's one thing I know from baking it's that a baker is only as good as their most basic cupcake: vanilla frosting with a vanilla cake. Unfortunately I came to find out not only do they not offer any basic vanilla on vanilla but they have no cupcakes without filling. Each and every cupcake had some form of Bavarian cream filling. If a baker doesn't offer a basic vanilla cupcake, they surely can't be trusted with handmade Bavarian cream. That's a chance I won't take. Those weren't the only issues though; they also don't use any buttercream frosting. I cannot fathom why anyone would enjoy a cream cheese frosting upon a Bavarian cream filled cake. It's too much especially for a company that is incapable of making the most basic of cupcakes. Despite the lack of my favorite cupcake, I found that they also had strange flavors. I've never awoken with the desire to eat a vanilla cream cheese frosted lemon cupcake with lime "Bavarian" pudding filling. That's overdoing it and sounds horrible. I know every cupcake company has been trying to top the loss of Milwaukee Cupcake Company but trying too hard will sink a company. You have to cater to both the simplest of flavors as well as the more complex flavors. So I bought a donut from them. It was a very basic glazed chocolate donut. Drier than a bad sunburn in the Sahara desert. I'd sooner end up with said sunburn than return here. read more

Its a great concept and has potential but needs an intervention. The cupcakes are cute, colorful, most have an added candy topping. I want a cupcake not a candy bar or a cookie. Dry inside , cake mix quality, frosting sweet and gritty... So tweek it! At $3.00 each i wasnt pleased with what i tasted. Im not giving up though. Lose the candy, go fresh or go home, Try a real homade buttercreme frosting, All the frostings taste the same. Your "filled" cupcakes have such a small amount of filling that it seems a waste of time to do it. Go big, go simple, go fresh. I know you can do it. read more

I have purchased their muffins and cupcakes numerous times. They are all delicious and moist. Favorite is the lemon berry muffin. Twice we have hot ham and rolls on Sunday and it was all good. For a funeral I was able to order a cookie platter. Prices are reasonable for the taste and decorations you get. I will definitely be back! read more
