The staff was SUPER accommodating. Our food (for a party of 13!!) was delivered hot and FRESH! We sat near the bar and our server did a great job of juggling bar duty and serving our group. The location of our table allowed great conversations and photo ops. A variety of menu choices at dinner was well received. A grand reunion of far flung family was certainly appreciated by all. Parking is a challenge. So expect to walk from the parking lot. There's also a waitlist first come first serve. I had to wait 50 minutes to be seated. Food was decent, server was attentive, refills kept coming and meals were hot and flavorful. I always love trying something new! Nothing from their menu "wow"d me or made me want to come back for more. Not a bad choice, but not a favorite. read more

This cafe has the best huge (plate size) Carmel roll. Served warm with butter and there our special syrup. Pair that with an order of bacon and what a great breakfast. Lots of calories so a treat occasionally. Definitely worth the trip and 9.5 rating. read more

This is a nice little cafe in Minneapolis. We went on a weekend morning and we're seating pretty quickly but all the tables were pretty full. The people after us had to wait a little bit for their seat. I had the lemon pancakes and they were really good! Also ordered some oatmeal for some fiber and that was a huge bowl I couldn't finish. The service is so good here. You cannot go wrong with stuffed French toast. The waiter rightfully recommended adding some berry jam in addition to their homemade syrup. I would never have thought eggs Benedict with a pancake base would be so good! I highly recommend this place and the food is so delicious. Their warm fresh syrup is so good. We didn't really like the table we were at in the bar area, as it had a significant wobble that was annoying. But the staff was nice and it felt comfortable to be at. Jensen's has a lot of good choices on their menu and when I saw the lemon ricotta pancakes it was a done deal. Now, I feel like I'm one of the judges on the Great British Bake Off when I say this, but if you say there is lemon in something I want to TASTE the lemon. This was more like a thick, dense pancake with nary a hint of lemon. The butter maple syrup, while it had a decent flavor, tasted not at all like maple. A friend was heard to remark that it tasted more like a melted Werther's. I have nothing against those hard candies, but I don't want them all over my pancakes. I ordered a side of sausage patties and those were the best part of the meal. The service was okay. We waited a substantial amount of time for our food and I had an empty coffee mug for a while. They have a small lot, but there is a parking garage right next door. 3 stars in this case equals a Meh. If you want lemon ricotta cakes go to Hell's Kitchen. read more

We had not been here in a long time & was excited to get stuffed French toast. We had a 30 min wait - we browsed at Ficus & Fig. Our booth was dirty. I had to ask for it to be wiped down as there were crumbs on the seat & table, as well as, soda/coffee rings despite having been set. The server came right over & wiped it all down with the same rag. Coffee arrived in a chipped mug - no biggie but, at this point I'm second guessing my decision. Then the food came. I love Jensen's! I've been coming here for years. The Scramble Rito is my favorite - whatever time I come, if they are serving breakfast, that is what I get. Their coffee is good, the ambiance is warm and cheery, and their servers are friendly. Tip: try to go during the week, or early on the weekend. They are usually very busy on the weekend, and the wait time can be long. Side note: if you celebrate your birthday there, you might even get ice cream for breakfast! Good food and service. They have some very interesting combinations. Found a couple things that drew us both in. I tried the stuffed French toast combo and hubs had the pancake combo and got the lemon ricotta pancakes. The only real disappointment with the food was that the pancakes were not seemingly as advertised. They were more of a traditional pancake with a little bit of lemon zest, it the light lemon curd type one might expect. The menu also said there was a blackberry raspberry topping, which we both read as a sort of compote. It was just 6 berries. The stuffed French toast was very good. I was also slightly confused on the menu; combos were listed with a choice of meat and 2 eggs done any way. There was an option to sub fruit or cheesy hashbrowns for a fee. I can never say no to cheesy hashbrowns, so I asked for those instead of meat. When the food came out, I had eggs, cheesy hashbrowns AND breakfast potatoes. Not that I minded having some leftovers, but I definitely didn't need 2 types of potatoes. If you can get past some of the confusion, the food was delicious and our server was very friendly and fast read more

Their burgers are one of the worst ones I have had in my lifetime. I have never had a burger taste like a cow. I could taste what the cow ate for breakfast on his last day on this earth! That is not a good sign at all! The french toast tasted very eggy. The swedish pancakes were very underwhelming. Never coming here again especially considering the amount of people and the very limited parking space! NEVER! read more

The food and service here were fantastic! We had the eggs Florentine (the Hollandaise sauce was fantastic) and stuffed French toast and requested strawberries and homemade whipped cream for the top. The french toast is stuffed with a homemade mixed berry compote/cream cheese mix, and the syrup is a caramel syrup that is amazing on its own! It came with cheesy hash browns, bacon, and eggs. . . I use to be the biggest Jensen's advocate for the longest , use to eat here pretty much every weekend with my wife and I also always make it a point to tip well , $20 minimum . and so it's been a while since we had tried it so we stopped by w my wife and two sister in-laws , before sitting down I always like to confirm that the time isn't far off from close and if the cooks mind cause I don't like to eat at a place where the cooks are rushing my food , they confirm w me no it's ok we got ample amount of time , so being pretty empty the food took 30 mins to come out , my appetizer also came out w my food 30 mins later, and came out burnt ( the place is also pretty empty , not busy at all ) so when I ask to take the appetizer back cause it was burnt bacon ( we ordered the candy bacon ) our waitress with an attitude took it back and seemed pretty upset by their lack of quality but upset as did it's my fault , and then to find out she snuck a $15 gratuity fee on the bill for just us 4 , unless they changed how things are done I have never seen a forced tip for 4 people or less , and considering the poor customer service I was not going to pay this fee , so when I brought up my concerns to the counter , instead of an apology or an explanation I was met with more rudeness and seemed like everyone was irritated and it's my fault , I understand everyone has a bad day but the sneaking a gratuity is where I draw the line , NEVER EATING HERE AGAIN !! read more

Came here with the Mr for Sunday breakfast before hitting a matinee. We were a little worried - the movie started at 11 and it was already 10... would we make it?? But we held tight, were seated at 10:20, and ordered shortly after. I had the Westward Ho ome-alot, the Mr had the waffle special with eggs and cheesy hashbrowns. I can't say enough about their version of an omelette. It is so deliciously fluffy with the perfect amount of fillings. Each bite had a little bit of everything, and this was the first time in a long time that I finished an entire restaurant breakfast. Yummy. The Mr said the same: he can never finish a waffle after eggs, but he ate every bite, alternating between maple and house made berry syrups. We were so full we waddled out of here. Given how this place *always* has a wait on the weekend, I can't believe how quickly they can turn over tables. Don't be put out by the wait! They keep the coffee stocked in the waiting area and the food is SO worth it. read more

Let's start with food first it was ok but maybe my food would have been better if we didn't have rude waitress. Patty our waitress kept making scene about mimosas. I ordered mimosa, patty kept saying the little mimosa laughing. If I wanted the ultimate mimosa I could have ordered it but we were straight off flight, as you can see on the picture posted there is no big or little mimosas as patty kept trying to insult us. I don't know if was a race thing or not. Patty made this joke and wouldn't stop it was so rude to the point I said point out on the menu where it says big and little mimosas. My friend ordered the ultimate mimosa and couldn't finish it I had to help her. One of the best places around! Great food. Great cheesy hash!! They have great drinks ( mimosa and bloody Mary's). Love the sweetish pancakes that make great pigs in a blanket. Only complaint would be consistency. When it's really busy the food quality goes down a little. So get there early or late. Not while the huge rush and your won't be disappointed. Sitting at the bar is my favorite option. Multiple times great service but most of the time I have to flag someone down or accept getting ignored until they are ready to help you. read more

A staple of the Burnsville community. My husband and I will stop here every once and while for an adult only brunch after we drop our son off at daycare. Service is always fantastic. Food is always delicious. I've only ever been for breakfast but I've never heard anything bad about their lunch or dinner either. The parking lot is small but there's plenty of parking in the area so you might just have to walk a little bit if you can't get a spot in the lot right next to the restaurant. read more

This place is well worth the hype, but be prepared as they are constantly busy (for good reason!). The first place we went after moving to Burnsville was Jensen's Cafe as many of our friends have raved about the food. It was a little bit of a wait, but once we got in food and drinks came out promptly. Service was excellent as our server was kind enough to recommend favorites and other little known items on the menu worth checking out. We of course had to go with one of the monstrous caramel rolls, come hungry because that roll left hardly any room for my actual meal! If you're in the neighborhood definitely swing by and check Jensen's out. read more

The wait at Jensen's is worth it! We've been here several times, and the food is always delicious. I'm a huge fan of the stuffed French toast and pancakes. My husband loves the omelettes and the Swedish pancakes. The potatoes fried with onions are awesome, but you can get hash-browns instead. The service is always good. While you are waiting here there is a play area for children, a gift shop to look around, and coffee to drink in the lobby. Highly recommend! I've heard the bloody Mary's are very good too. read more

I will confess it was too long since my last visit. It was a year ago when my daughters took Dad out for a treat. A few weeks ago, a couple of good dentist friends reached out to me to join them sometime for lunch. One of their fave spots was Jensen's, given it was a short hop from their Burnsville offices. They are both retired now, as am I, so we agreed to meet there at 11:30 for lunch. As is usually the case, the place was packed so it was fortunate one of my friends arrived early and found the last available table. Don't go here if you are in a hurry; but if you have the time it's well worth the wait. They are only open for breakfast and lunch, and I'm pretty sure you can have either choice as long as you are dining between 7am and 3pm, their current hours. I had a western scramble with their diced potatoes and it was more than I could finish. A few years ago, they added a bar and had extended hours, but no longer as was apparent by the 7-3 open hours. It's breakfast or lunch only these days. read more

This place is out of control. I have driven by it 100x and always meant to stop, but didnt. Husband and I were finally sneaking out for a Sunday brunch without the kids and thought we would hit it up. There was a good 20-30 min wait, so I figured it had to be good. There are so many options around so that is always a good sign. We were seated by our waiter and he was awesome. Asked us for our drink order, husband ordered coffee and I of course ordered a Bloody Mary. Let me tell you...he made the best bloody! He is the normal bartender and it was on point...so I had another. We decided to share the apple bread and I wish I would have gotten that for myself as an entree, it's that good. Think of homemade apple bread, buttered and grilled...then topped with a home made caramel syrup. Mind blown. It was sinfully good. I ordered an Omelet that had hash-browns in it and husband ordered a scramble with salmon. I of course ordered better and he was jealous..like always. Portions are quite big! Could not remotely even finish half the Omelet. We will def order the apple bread next time and then share an entree. We had a couple to go boxes which I won't complain as it was a good dinner. History

Established in 2005.

Our grandfather opened a Jensen's Cafe in Fremont Ne. on Feb. 2,1947. It operated until his death in 1979. His grandson Doron Jensen a longtime restauranteur always wanted to have his own version of Jensen's Cafe. The Burnsville Jensen's Cafe was opened in March of 2005 in the Heart of the City development. Since then we have served more than a million meals.

While I dropped off my sister to secure a table while I parked, I inquired about their seating status upon entering. The host responded by pointing to the door and stating, "Outside." 2. The manager made an effort to engage with other tables, asking them how they were doing. However, when he approached our table, his sole action was to retrieve the plate. My sister politely requested boxes, but the manager's response was dismissive and he promptly departed. Despite the manager's absence, the waiter returned with boxes, but his demeanor was not welcoming or friendly. 3. The coffee was consistently refilled, but the rest of the table's water was depleted, and it was not refilled during our meal. The service was characterized by a rushed pace, and when our food was placed on the table, it was more like a throw rather than a thoughtful presentation. I was astounded by the treatment of their customers, given that they appeared to be understaffed. And the service was impeccable - friendly and attentive despite how busy it was. Only thing that could use a little work is the seating- our booth was torn up badly and not even duct taped to smooth it out. Some repairs/updates would go a long way. But joints like this I don't judge the ambiance too harshly.

This is an order at the counter place, but staff is very helpful in explaining how it all works. I got a breakfast burrito and it arrived super fast. It was also big, stuffed full of beans, cheese and hashbrowns, so it kept me full all afternoon. The salsa on the side was tasty and has the kind of heat that sneaks up on you a bit. That just got me to get a glass of water in addition to my coffee, which was excellent. There were lovely looking pastries in the case but I resisted this time. I think there are 3 rooms, lots of wood on the walls and in the booth construction gives it a cozy feel. The all gender bathrooms are spotless.

We also ordered FOUR rolls for the table: two cinnamon and two caramel. Both types were delish! The service was helpful, cheerful and friendly, perfect for showing my New York cousin, what "Minnesota Nice" is all about. The food was excellent. I had the bacon, green onion and cream cheese omelet ($16) which I really enjoyed. I also enjoyed the toast with a side of orange marmalade. The omelet was well made (not always the case when I order at a restaurant) and the ingredients they added gave it a cravable taste. In fact, I was so impressed with this combination, I made it at home the following weekend. My cousin had the Greek Frittata ($15.50) with grilled marinated artichoke, spinach, green onion, feta and tomato. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the total a bit on the tad on the high side for breakfast ($45.88 before tip) this was a great place to have breakfast, chill, and talk.

My breakfast sandwich (sausage patty, cheese, and fresh scrambled egg on a toasted english muffin) was tasty making for a perfect on the go lunch. Every booth has a little lamp light and just a nostalgic, cozy feeling. I ended up having a breakfast burrito with fruit and it was just perfect. It wasn't an overstuffed burrito and just delicious. Also, great fruit selection, not just (nasty) cantaloupe. The restaurant also has a great mission, helping those in need get on the right path. Would definitely stop in to support that alone. The food and friendliness is just a bonus.
