Like most reviewers, Jen is definitely challenging to get a hold of, but once getting an appointment in, it's pretty much smooth sailing from there. Yes, I have ran into many obstacles getting in between appointments, but lesson learned, schedule before you leave with her. It's easier to establish a future appointment and cancel/ reschedule later than trying to get in touch with her for an appointment. Trust me, I know. Jen is usually accommodating towards all scheduling needs, however weekends appointments are usually booked up. Recently I texted her to confirm my appointment but informed I'm available today if she can accept me. I told her the condition and length of my hair, and informed what results I wanted to achieve. This way she knew what to prepare for during my appointment. Took her a few mins to text back and told me if I'd like to go darker, she can squeeze me in right now. Though this happened by luck, I don't expect to be this lucky every time. Jen usually knows I have a crazy schedule just like hers, but if I have some flexibility, it doesn't hurt to try. Jen always delivers quality work after each hair appointment. She definitely recommends the best products and literally cares for clients hair and look. If you can be patient enough with her communication skills, you definitely won't regret getting in with her. I made a mistake going to someone once when I couldn't get a hold of Jen between my last appointment with her. Jen worked twice as hard on my hair to fix the damages done, but was still very sweet and understanding of the circumstances. Now I know to just be patient and good hair will come to those who wait for Jen to respond. Lol! read more

I guess you have to be super VIP or in some cool kids club to get your hair done w this person. I remember a couple years ago I tried getting an appointment with her. I called, emailed, and texted. Finally got a text response 3 weeks later. Too late - already had my hair colored by then. My friend insisted she usually isn't this bad at communicating and that she's typically just really busy (too busy to text back? Right.). Thought I'd give her the benefit of the doubt and try again. I emailed, txted, and messaged on Instagram this time (since I noticed she was posting some recent photos - for a while I thought maybe she stopped coloring hair so I checked insta for recent posts. Yep still doing hair. On who I don't know). Still no response and it's been a couple weeks. I guess I'm not part of this elite crew who gets their hair done by the self proclaimed Guy Tang of Houston. Eye roll. I was able to get an appointment at M Salon with the awesome Chris Do instead. I can't be more pleased with my whole overall experience with Jen! She seriously knows hair. Her prices seem high at first but, it is well worth the money. I had previously gone to get balayage done at a trusted salon. I was so disappointed when I left. I had uneven tone, big streaks, and a choppy cut. I couldn't believe how bad it looked. Thank God I found Jen, she first wanted to see what my hair situation looked like and to see if she could fix me. Though she is very busy, she was able to get me in and I'm so glad she did! Okay, so I'm changing up my review because I was able to get a hold of Jen! Once she messaged me we got an appointment settled right away. I usually feel a little awkward on a first time appointment with stylists, but it's really easy to warm up to Jen. She is really laid back and took her time explaining to me what needed to be done in order to achieve the look I wanted. I really wanted an ashy colored hair color as I'm so used to my dyed hair looking orangey brown. She took her time and even allowed extra time for the color to settle, making sure the color was perfect and up to my expectations. After the coloring was finished, she cut my hair and curled it -- I felt so gorgeous! I thought my hair would feel a little damaged but its actually really smooth for it being processed and lightened a few levels. People were hitting on me the rest of the day as well. That really took me by surprise. My mother said she liked it a lot, even though she previously didn't like the idea of me lightening my hair. I'm Filipino so having an ashy brown/dark blonde hair is usually difficult to pull off. This just tells you how amazing Jen is! For those that are having a tough time getting in touch with Jen, read Teresa D's comment as she explains perfectly on what you need to do and why it's difficult to contact her. Ok let me start by saying I think it's really unfair people have been giving Jen poor reviews due to not getting in with her. She is amazing at what she does, so understandably it's going to take her awhile to get back to everyone. She is only one person! I received a balayge/ ombre and cut from Jen. As she was doing my hair this past weekend I noticed her business phone kept blowing up! Like seriously this girl is well sought after but she isn't the type of stylist that is constantly on her phone (like so many I've experienced before) . I really appreciated that and think that this is how every beauty appointment should be. It was truly an amazing customer service experience. Jen and I talked for what it seems like hours because she takes her time, which obviously bore the best outcome because my hair looked and felt amazing after! I didn't feel like she was rushing to get done with me to get to another person. Tips: -Be persistent(like seriously text, call, email etc.) -She works long hours so the hours she would be able to get back to anyone would be late at night, if you're ok with that include this in your texts. -I can already tell you she's booked every weekend until around May of 2015 -Expect to hear back from here anywhere from 1-6 weeks at the latest -If you do have an appointment with her already, book your next appointment face to face. -Last but not least be patient!! Have been looking for a good hair stylist over the past year, and I'm so glad Jen was able to squeeze me in. I seriously don't think I'll let anyone else touch my hair from now on! I'm super picky with my hair, whether we're talking about length, color, cut, style, you name it. I've always been really hesitant about who I let touch my hair and I am SO happy I found Jen. I don't trust anyone else! Jen is amazing at what she does because she's knowledgeable and she listens. Our appointment started out with a lengthy discussion about the concerns I had about the current state of my hair, and that's what really set her apart from other stylists. She explained to me why my hair looked the way it did, and then followed with exactly how she was going to fix it. I needed a lot of color corrections before getting the balayage I wanted, and also got a cut/long layers. Our appointment was roughly 3-4 hours (I've sat at other salons for up to 7 hours before and never left happy). Jen's really clear and straightforward about what's possible for your hair type and whether or not your desired look will go well with your skin tone and shape of your face (if you're getting a cut). I notice a lot of her negative ratings are due to the fact that she's hard to reach. It's because she's always booked, understandably so! This girl is BUSY, and she works alone without an assistant. Jen is amazing! I have gone to see her twice to get coloring done. I got blonde ombre the first time and a dark gray ombre the second time (yesterday!). She achieved exactly what I asked for both times! She is very straightforward when explaining what is and isn't possible for your hair type. She knows what she's doing so she is very fast, and can easily turn a 6-hr appointment into just 3 hours! I can't say enough good things about her. Jennifer is the absolute queen of the Bayalage/ ombre highlighting technique!! I've had this technique done to my hair on several occasions before at other high end salons but have never been as happy with the color and technique as I am with Jennifer's work! Jen is absolutely amazing! I recently moved to Houston from Pittsburgh and was searching for a new hair stylist (Thanks Yelp!) She was able to fix my botched ombre (which was more like yellow roots fading into white hair) done by my previous stylist and gave me a perfect ash blonde ombre. She also cut my new extensions to blend with the rest of my hair. She was extremely easy to get ahold of and to schedule an appt with. We talked over several texts and she requested pictures of what I was looking for to make sure she got my hair exactly the way I wanted it. She was extremely professional and friendly! Talking to her felt like talking to one of my friends I've known forever. After she did my ombre, my hair was very ashy. She told me if the ash didn't wash out over the next few days and I wanted it toned to a golden color simply to text her and we could arrange an appt. I decided I wanted it toned and she was able to squeeze me in the next day (free of charge.) My hair looks shiny, healthy and most importantly LIKE THE OMBRE I'VE ALWAYS WANTED. She even texted me the next day to make sure I liked the color and it still looked the way I wanted it to after washing it. Wow! I must say I'm very surprised by that one reviewer who gave Jen a "1 star" review. My experience with Jen in getting an appointment was quite the opposite. All it took was one phone call and I was able to get scheduled in. Not only that, her and I communicated through SEVERAL texts before my appointment to figure out what color was best for me. I follow several hair colorists through Instagram and had made an appointment with a colorist at another high end salon but decided to cancel that appointment. I decided to go with my instincts and chose to get my hair colored with Jen. So glad I did! She is amazing! Her work and technique speaks for itself. Yes, she is busy but isn't that a good thing? If anything, that should tell you that you're working with someone who everyone wants to go to. With all that being said, I highly recommend everyone to go to Jen to get your hair colored.
