So i usually go to hannah for my color and sometimes cut. Shes 10/10. However she was booked up so i ended up booking christal. I got to the appointment 10 minutes early and she took me right away. I told her exactly what i wanted and even pointed to my chest bone to where i wanted the length and the face framing pieced the shortest piece at my clavicle. She cut my hair sooo fast in like 15 min and proceeded to tell me that she needed to shampoo someone elses hair. After about 6-7 minutes she blow dried my hair and immediately i knew it was WAY TO SHORT. pretty much all of my hair is at my clavicle. After blowdrying she told me she needed to recheck foils for the same other person. When she came back again 5 min later cut some layers. She showed me the back and i was like oh its cute but really short. Instead of acknowledging me she was like so cute for summer. At this point she left super quick again for other client while another person curled my hair. NOW- i dont mind have to check foil etc but i felt like she was very rushed to go to this other client even though i had an appointment...then the hair cut itself isnt bad but its not what i wanted. I didnt feel like complaining anymore because my hair will grow back. But for the price i expect who i book to take more than 20-25 min cutting my hair. read more

Jve been bleaching my hair for over 4 years now & have always stayed loyal to my regular salon. For some reason last month I decided to try a new salon & found clique on google with pretty good reviews. I came in to add a few highlights & had a 10 minute consultation before where i specifically told the stylist & her assistant my wants and concerns. One of the main things i mentioned was that I hate the look of money pieces and absolutely did NOT want any of that look. The stylist went on to bleach my hair, give me extremely visible money pieces and she even covered up some of the prior highlights I had. After the service was done I told her it was not what I wanted & I asked her to fix it. This woman then proceeded to full on dump BLACK hair dye on the roots of my hair, giving me a severely grown out look (first picture) and didn't even bother to blend it going down my hair (second picture). On top of all this their prices are ridiculous. The next day I went to my usual salon, obviously there wasn't much they could do. Bleaching over one day old bleach hair AND over the black she put on was going to severely damage my hair. My only option was to go back to full dark hair, which is what I currently have. My confidence has been severely ruined. It's been less than a month and I still don't feel like myself. The salon where I've been a regular at told me to wait at least 3 months before bleaching my hair again. My advice to anyone in Houston looking to come to this salon for any type of bleaching is to stay away & take your business elsewhere. read more

Haircut color style by Trish. was getting some gray strands and my balayage had grown out so I came in and request dye my hair my natural color dark brown but not flat and want some golden undertones. She talked me into Demi perm as less damaging. She did a strange technique of painting top of my head one color and then bottom of my hair 2nd color. 1st attempt was too warm and grays not covered. She said I needed to go darker than my natural to cover my grays. This time she colored top what looks like black and bottom ash brown. She admitted it came out too dark on top. She quickly put some curls in it. Cuz curls make every color and cut look good. So didn't really notice til I got home. Buy after washing and drying it straight like I normally do I realized what a mistake this experience was. I hate my hair color! Worse dye job ever. Looks like someone dumped black paint on top of my head. My hair is two different colors now essentially an ombré without the nice transitioned blend. The only good news is it will be gone in 28 washes. read more

I was very disappointed with this experience. I do have permanent dye on my hair that I have done myself with sally's hair dye, but I came into the salon wanted to go blond. The girl that helped me was not very nice and from the start I could tell she didn't really want to do my hair, She quoted me $305 and told me the best she could do was do a balayage on top of the color that I have and have my roots grow in a completely different color. I have gone through this experience before and it has been nothing like this. She wouldn't bleach my whole head because she was scared that my hair would be damaged, which I appreciated, but basically advised that I do not go blond at all and gloss it darker. She does know more than I do, but it meant a lot for me to go blond today and instead of options it just ruined my experience. read more

Quite happy I've been going to Clique since the pandemic. It seemed like every time I went, there'd be a new person. I've finally settled with Trish & she's great. I'd grown out my gray & was trying to keep my color natural. The previous salon I went to tried very hard to get me to color my hair. Part of why I stopped going there. But, I'd heard gloss was good for gray hair & wouldn't permanently color it. Well apparently, it depends on how intense they color the gloss. So, after spending a few years to grow it out, I was back to having roots again. I explained what I didn't like about the glosses I'd gotten & Trish developed a process that works great. I got my hair cut here with Trish, and it was a great experience! I walked in and the front desk personnel were very warm and welcoming. I had my hair washed by Trish's assistant and I was quickly taken to my chair to get my haircut. Trish was attentive, easy to talk to, and very skilled at what she does. She cut my hair so fast I didn't even have time to blink! In the end, I was super happy with the result and had a great time talking to Trish. She's super funny and sweet! I did notice some people were offered beverages and I was not; however, this didn't really detract from my experience. The inside is clean, modern, and really does look like a high-end salon. Beautiful interior! Parking is a little tricky sometimes because the area is crowded; however, with a little meandering around in your car you'll probably find parking. I paid by meter and made it in time. Be sure to leave your home a little earlier to account for parking time. She said I needed a haircut, but the previous stylist at their salon said I could wait. They really push for you to make another appointment. I had a gloss and partial updo for 150. This is actually the best one that I have ever been to. It's in a great location, the staff is so kind sweet and quick. I was offered complementary drink and snack which is really nice because most salons only offer coffee or tea, they offered Mamosa's and so many snack choices. Good salons are hard to come by and my personal style is pretty low maintenance (or lazy) but am particular about my hair color. I've had all varieties of bad results leaving me hyper conscious of salons. This place does it well and very professionally! I have one disclaimer to this but I'll save it for the end. I opt for a subtle and professional balayage as my look. Hannah listened to my thoughts and blended a color that fit exactly what I requested. I will say - it took 3 hours so be prepared for that and even more time if you are planning on a cut as well. My one disclaimer: this is a Rice Village location so you will pay Rice Village prices. They added a gloss to my color which was an additional $55 that I was not expecting and maybe could have done without. They do give you quotes up front so you do have the option to walk away which is appreciated. read more

Horrible customer service and staff!!! I went to the clique salon after I saw the review. To be honest i would never ever go to a hair salon based on the review again. Totally misguidance.. I had an appointment for a cut and color about 5 weeks ago, and unfortunately my hair is now totally fried. I have long naturally wavy/curly hair, and my ends look like a broom now with significant breakage. I wear my hair natural and don't use heated styling tools (not even a blow dryer), so it's pretty obvious where the damage came from. It's honestly devastating :( it was also very expensive, and now on top of that I am spending even more on products to "undo" this damage... although in reality that won't be possible until my hair grows out entirely. Very pretty salon and everyone was nice enough; however, not the best hair cut I've ever had. I still have tons of split ends and my hair looks more or less the same as when I went in. I was supposed to get beach waves but I left with relatively flat hair with a few waves here and there, and by the time I got home it was mostly flat. I really wanted to like this salon. The location is amazing right in the middle of Rice Village. The decor has a great artistic flare. But I'm sad to say I feel victim to getting back service or maybe it was just being assigned the least experienced person in the salon because I was getting a discounted service through Living Social. I don't understand why some businesses treat the deals backwards. They are suppose to expose your business to new customers, so why would you put that responsibility into the hands of someone that can't put the best foot forward for the salon? To begin with my stylist was running behind. I'm pretty easy going but nearly 30 minutes later it's bordering on excessive. Now I know this could be a result from a customer running late, but a good stylist knows how to make up time. The girl was very nice, but it seemed superficial. She seemed to only half listen during the small talk we were having. She somehow misinterpreted my husband being a teacher into him having children. It made the rest of our conversation very confusing. I was wondering why she would think that my husband's students would live with us. I got a color and a cut. The color was fine, pretty flat. Along with another yelper I probably would have preferred to buy a box of color and do it myself. Going back to the stylist listening skills I made it very clear that I could NOT lose too much length because it was just a few days before my sister's wedding and I needed to make sure that my hair covered the tattoo on my back. However somehow I lost at least six inches, so what resulted from that was my hair had to be straight and I had to pay the make-up artist for airbrushing my tattoo. Very frustrating. My cut was super wonky. I had layers in my bangs, really bizarre. The top of my bangs was a good inch shorter, looked like someone played a joke on me and cut my hair in my sleep. I had weird sections of my hair that were longer than the rest, ie the left side that framed my face was a good three inches longer than the whole rest of my head! Needless to say I only wore my hair up until I could get it fixed elsewhere. Bottom line I went here a few days before my sister's wedding, got a horrible cut and had no way to get it fixed before the wedding. It cost me extra money to get tattoo cover-up because it was way too short and I wasted by money paying the wedding day stylist because all she could do is straighten my hair. Upon seeing me my sister freaked out because she said I didn't look like myself, for good reason my hair hadn't been that short in 8 years! read more

After reading such good reviews for Clique I decided to get my hair cut today. I was disappointed with how quickly they just tried to get me in and out of there. My haircut literally only took 5 min. and I can't even tell anything was taken off. Then she spent all my time styling my hair and didn't even really listen to what I was saying about not styling and putting too much product in it. Also they sat me down at one station and then made me wait for about 10 min until they moved me to another station. I was shocked that my "haircut" cost me $70 for only 10 min cut and styling. Alright. My coworker suggested that I come here since the person I've used for about 7 years left T&G. It started off really well. I arrived a few minutes early and met with the stylist, Trish. I talked to her about what I wanted: 1) just a trim; 2) relayer the bottom of the back just a bit so it's not a straight chop; 3) relayer the front; and 4) redo the bangs. I guess technically 3 out of 4 isn't bad, but you will still only get one star. She trimmed my hair which was fine, layered the front and back, and trimmed my bangs. Everything seemed a bit rushed but I didn't think much of it. After she dried my hair, I assumed she would redo the layers so they wouldn't be as choppy, but she didn't. She showed me the back, and it looked fine, she had dried it using a roller brush, so it was all curled in. I think the whole thing took about 30 minutes, which is a little too short when you're paying $64 for a cut. The next day I go to work and my coworkers all gasp and ask "what happened to your hair. I think they must be kidding, it's fine. But then they took a picture of it. First, I didn't ask for a lot of layers, I said just the bottom. I think the layers in the back actually span about 6 inches, which while annoying, would be fine if there weren't HUGE gaps between the layers, like there's no rhyme or reason. So layer one, 4 inches later, a bit of layer at the bottom (bottom 2 inches). Then some other random layers off to the side that are a few inches up (this means she didn't compare the layers on each side to make sure they were even). She did absolutely no blending of the layers after my hair was dry so everything looks awful and choppy. I'm so pissed! I would go back to Clique to get it fixed, but if they did such a terrible job the first time, why would I trust them to fix it? I'm going back to T&G this afternoon to get it fixed, paying double, but completely worth it. read more

It's official. This is a fantastic salon. I recently had my hair highlighted (double process, two colors) and was in and out in just about an hour. I saw Tracy this time and she was expeditiously professional. She listened patiently to my desires and when I asked for her in-put, she was honest and had some great ideas (I was looking to turn up the volume on my color without having chunks of platinum blonde run through my hair). I explained to her that I was having headshots done soon and they would be in color, so I needed to brighten things up a bit. The result of the golden blonde and dark auburn she wove through my tresses was lovely. PS- One should always go to an Aveda salon if there is a choice...it's worth it for the way your hair smells all day. Tracy was great. Kim was there, too, and even gave me a quick bang-trim before leaving. I'll be seeing her next week before I go on to get photographed. Overall, this salon really knows what's up and deserves 5 stars. If you need to get in same-day, I recommend calling first thing in the morning and you'll probably get in to see *someone*. The floor is immaculate (no lingering hair anywhere), the bathroom is always super-clean, the receptionistas are always on top of it, and you can't beat the prices. Don't waste your time trying to find any other salon...or wait, maybe you should...just so I can still get an appointment! :) read more

Since I've visited Clique in The Village several times now, I think it's about time I give it a solid review. When I have time, I still visit the same stylist out in Deer Park who has been cutting my hair at a decent price and with great style since I was 4 years old. But when I finally settled into life-inside-The-Loop, I needed to find somewhere I could go to get a cut of the same quality and price. It was quite a scavenger hunt before I found Clique! As some may know, it seems there are about two choices in terms of hairstyling services in the loop--super cheap or super expensive. I've had experiences with both and was satisfied with neither. With Clique, I get excellent service at a price I can handle and a great cut to boot! My stylist here is Amanda Burleson, who I got by chance the first time I called for an appointment. The receptionist (who, contrary to another review, is very nice so she must be different than someone previous) must have been psychic because Amanda has always understood my needs perfectly. I have thick hair that grows very quickly, so I like to keep it short, and she has the skills with the razor to keep it manageable. Plus, she gives an awesome scalp and shoulder rub during the shampoo session. And did I mention that a blowout and style are included in the cut price here? Yeah, try finding that at some of the other high-end salons. Just go to Clique. You won't be disappointed. read more
