Even though there are alternatives closer to my home, I drove 18 minutes for Jamaican food on a holiday because I was feenin' for some Jamaican food. Enter: Jerk Dat! The price points are what initially attracted me to Jerk Dat: More budget-friendly than the alternatives. Portion sizes are great: A small Oxtails was more than filling! Although the oxtails weren't that large, there were many of them in the order. Add to that the rice and peas, mixed veggies, and fried plantains (which I normally do not eat, but ate this time because they weren't too sweet), and you had a satisfying meal reminiscent of a vacation to MoBay! The jerk chicken was also good: There's both a dry rub and a wet sauce on them, giving it a tolerable amount of spice. So why only 4 stars? Had a craving for jerk chicken. Found this place on yelp because it was close to the house. We came in and we were immediately welcomed by the staff with friendly conversation. I ordered the large jerk chicken and my husband got the large oxtail. We watched them prepare our plates after waiting a few minutes while they finished in the back with the chicken... And when I say it all looked so good... It looked so amazing!!! They even gave me some travel tips for Jamaica since we are planning a trip there this year. We got it to-go and ate it at home... we both tried each other's meal. I loooved the chicken... the sauce was so good with it. The cabbage, delicious. Plenty of rice & peas and plantains on the side . His oxtail was FIRE... flavorful and tender. I can't wait to go back and order the oxtail next time. And maybe some chicken on the side too ‍ lol. There is good and bad, I have been wanting to come here for months..I love that Jerk flavor the more the better, However it did not punch me with Jerk flavor instead was seemingly watered down now the food is going to come piping hot put into styrofoam containers and it will be FULL. I came in today for the first time and received some of the most terrible service ever! The lady taking my order didn't greet me, acted as if taking my order was giving up her first child, didn't ask if I wanted anything else (even tho everything I wanted they were "out of" and didn't even say thank you when I gave a tip ( as a fellow black woman, I believe in supporting black businesses as much as possible) All of this would've been "ok" had she not smiled greeted the interracial couple that was right after me. I was sick in search of soup... and suddenly my yelp displayed this restaurant. I hadn't had caribbean since I had moved to Vegas... so though my stomach upside down, I had to check it out. Relatively new, so it had very little reviews, but they were all good. I figured, why not support a new black owned business. I ordered delivery, and they said it would be about an hour. Once I placed my order I received a call from them say that they are out of coconut water, and listed their other options. I had no problem choosing a beverage I had never had, called a Ting. The guy on the phone was so nice! Being someone that orders a lot of food, I really really appreciated the phone call. My food arrived in maybe 30 minutes. I should of gotten soup being sick, but I missed goat curry and greens, so that's what I purchased. Everything was full of spice and flavor. And my stomach hasn't been upset since before I ate the food. I struggled to keep food down for 3 days up until eating this delicious food. And the Ting drink, one of my new favorite beverages! The smokiness of the jerk made me think I bought it out of a barrel on Norman Manley in Negril - better than most I've had there actually The brown stew chicken just fell apart - so delicious. I prefer the rice and peas here over any place in Vegas.
