I should have read the reviews and called someone else. 99 dollars to come out and diagnose. 880 additional dollars to sell me the part and put it in. 979 dollars. The actual part is $127 to $203 online. So $677 dollars for the less than 30 minutes it took them to install the part. The estimate was not itemized. It's not OKto do this to a nearly 80 year old woman. Be very afraid. I just received a completed invoice in my email. The 800 dollars was upped to 885 dollars. I was told that if Iused my ATM card there would be no upcharge. The employees are not union but Jerry's is charging as if they were. The technicians who came out were great. Insurance job to repair wiring to my thermostat. They showed up. Said there was a broken wire causing the problem but said it would be too hard to fix. Wait, isn't that why they were called? Said they would get the insurance company to cover a new wireless thermostat that they would order & install. Next thing I know the insurance company closes the ticket, charges me for this nothing service call. No word from Jerry's to me about this so I call them. They tell me the insurance company says the wire should be fixed. Jerry's recommendation- I should call the insurance company & get an electrician. Isn't that what Jerry's was supposed to be?! My shower valve broke making it where I had to shut the water off to my entire house in order to stop it from continuously running. I called on one plumbing company and while I was waiting for them during the 9 hour window they said they would arrive at my house, they called at noon and rescheduled for the next day. I immediately called Jerry's Plumbing and Omar showed up less than 2 hours later! Within 30 minutes, my plumbing problems were gone and I was back to having running water in my house. Omar was very professional, respectful and took the time to explain what needed to be replaced and why. I have no idea why I called that other company. Jesus. I should have read the reviews. Totally consistent with what I experienced too. My home warranty selected these guys to put in a replacement water heater. Ok, whatever. This was three years ago. Long story short, not connected to Jerry's, a horrible accident occurred in my neighborhood, necessitating that my house undergo an inspection by building inspector, and so cal gas. Low and behold, my water heater was out of compliance--they (Jerry's) never installed the exhaust for Carbon Monoxide, and I had been gasing my garage this whole time (where my dogs play area is located). This isn't what set me off though. Multiple members of their staff blatantly insisted that it is an impossibility that this was on them, as "they never leave a job half done." One of them said "if we didn't do it, then the dogs would be dead already." Lastly, offered to come look at it for a minimum of $375 dollars. I specifically asked them not to send this guy, and they kept sending him, and having him call me. Now, the manager did eventually show up, but was equally defensive about them not making a mistake. His reasoning was first that he had a photograph as proof--he showed me a photograph of the old water heater, which they took out. I don't know if he thought I wouldn't notice. His second reasoning was that there was as "no way, because we charged you for it." One of their techs making a mistake is an impossibility, which, for a company to make that claim is a HUGE RED FLAG. As if I intentionally removed the exhaust myself, which makes no sense. They also repeatedly asked me how I didn't notice that it (the exhaust) wasn't there for 3 years. I've been mulling about, shocked at such combative, defensive, and rude "customer service." But, reading other reviews... it all makes sense. I don't care how many years of experience you have. Everyone makes a mistake. Take accountability and own up to it. Don't be defensive when clearly.... It DIDN'T GET DONE. I'll use the other company that got recommended next time by one of the other users who had a similarly terrible experience with them. At least it's fixed now, but that doesn't make me feel any better as three years have transpired....living with a pretty big mistake from them. read more

Called because they claimed low prices in the phone book. The complete opposite. Waited until Monday to avoid a weekend service fee. Guy that came out would not give quote for replacement. Already had a quote from guy at the office yesterday. Charged a large service fee for not a lot of work. Went with another company. Far more reliable and much nicer to work with. Avoid these guys. Save yourselves the headache and extra fees. Asked for a senior citizen discount and was told they offered one. Instead I was charged a premium equal to a weekend service call. Never again. Fast, friendly service. I called my warranty company to make a plumbing claim because my kitchen sink was leaking into the cabinet beneath it., The warranty company said no one could come out for 10 days! I called up Jerry's and a technician (Nick, I believe) came out. He wore a mask and maintained social distancing. He came out within the specified time and found the problem and fixed it in 15 minutes. He showed me how to take apart the faucet, should the problem arise again, and thanked me for choosing Jerry's. Left me couple options and asked to call back if it stop working. Got my estimate for replacement / fixing. Within a week my water heater is replaced by Nick. He is very professional and polite. I was so happy to be connected with Jerry's Plumbing and Heating. My old AC unit (from 1978 I think) was having some serious issues. After a visit or two from other AC companies, Jerry's plumbing & heating was finally able to help me. Being completely aloof to this stuff, the staff, particularly Zac, was extremely helpful. They explained everything to me before moving forward with the installation. My new AC unit is now installed and they totally took care of everything. If you don't care about honest pricing then these are your guys! They are happy to take advantage of you and claim you have no recourse if you've been gauged on a job! True that Jerry's will give you an estimate, and sometimes they respect it, but we had a leaking water heater and had to replace it. However our existing one was still under warranty and that was worth $700. So the water heater itself should have been replaced. The charges then should have been for labor, parts and disposal of the old one. They charged us $850! Not a fair price! Much too much! And this price was only declared AFTER the job was done. Had a technician from Jerry's come out to house to check on a furnace that had not been serviced since home was built 12 years ago. Charge for the service call was $185, which seemed high to begin with, but would hopefully include any needed adjustments. Only issue was blower coming on before unit had sufficiently warmed up. Service technician spent about 15 minutes, came out and said it was a "corroded flame sensor" that needed to be replaced. It looked like a $20 part when he showed me the sensor, but then he stated the part cost around $200. I then received an estimate the next day for $350 to replace the flame sensor. The estimate had no breakdown between parts and labor, and the office said it was "not their policy" to provide cost breakdowns on estimates. I then googled "flame sensor" and found them on Amazon for as low as $7. The highest priced flame sensor was $50. It appears that Jerry's was attempting to vastly overcharge me. The part did not cost $200 and the labor could not have equaled an hour to install, since it only took the technician 15 minutes to remove it the first time. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews before calling this company. I contacted the company due to a leak at my water heater in my garage. The company sent out an employee who after examination, stated it was not the water heater but a leak at the recirculating pump. A long time elapsed without any response from the employee so I went to check on him in his van. He informed me that he was trying to source the parts. I had a male friend speak with the employee as I felt uneasy with the lack of progress. After the phone call, I was assured that 2 valves would be replaced and I would have hot water when I got home that night. Not the case. The employee failed to replace one of the lines as he promised. I contacted the answering service and the first person I spoke with was rude when I inquired as to when someone would contact me. A different employee was dispatched who had no conversation with anyone previous to his visit. I explained what was not completed and we ran my shower and faucets for 7 minutes and warm water finally ran. He left. The next day I called again asking for someone to come connect the line as promised and 2 employees came this time. They had no information and examined the situation and explained that the line that was supposed to be replaced would not solve my problem and left. Also, at the initial visit, I was was given a verbal estimate and asked to sign something. I asked for a detailed estimate and was directed to contact the main office. I was informed they don't provide detailed estimates, they only bill flat fee with no explanation in writing of what they were doing. Additionally, being a single woman, I feel like I was taken advantage of financially. I spent $755 to stop a leak and still don't have hot water without running my faucets for several minutes. We had just moved into our new Home and found out we had a Gas leak between the Gas meter and the house. Derrick from Jerry's Plumbing was quick to respond and gave us several options on how to fix it. He arrived early the next morning ready to get the job done. He worked tirelessly to get the gas line up and running so we could still get the gas company out to turn it on that same day. He kept us updated as to the progress. When the new line was done he pressure checked the line which was now good, but the pressure test found 2 valves in the house also had slow leaks and he replaced them. He even checked back with us a few days later to make sure everything was still working smoothly. Jerry's Plumbing prices were less then others quoted and very quick. Guy had his mask pulled down the whole time he was in my house. Not entirely sure he fixed the problem with the AC but caused another problem by shorting out a light in the process. He put vent cover back on incorrectly and now I have to borrow a ladder from a neighbor to get up there and fix it. He left dirty finger prints all over every thing he touched. My favorite part was when he threw the filthy dirty water he has vacuumed up against my house as he left. One star is way to high a rating for this company. read more

My wife and I are dismayed after Jerry's Plumbing & Heating replaced a furnace. To be concise, we were informed by a HVAC tech from a different company that Jerry's techs disabled our air-conditioner, which worked fine for months. They also failed to install a new vent pipe and condensation trap. They also left decorative wood trim broken off, claiming it's not their responsibility. We were never shown permits to perform duties. The techs never told us specifically what our $1170 charge would cover (on top of whatever our home warranty company paid them). Bottom line, they accept "NO" accountability. They say our concerns are to be directed to our home warranty company. Thermostat went out during a hot spell. Of course, nothing works so we had Jerry's come out under our home warranty. I called to schedule an appointment and was given a date in three days. Scheduled 9:00 to 12:00. We got a call at 8:15 that they were on their way. Sweet. George arrived, checked everything and determined the thermostat had gone out which blew a fuse in the heater in the attic. By 9:45, George had replaced the thermostat, instructed us on it's use and was on his way. George could not have been more professional. He left, saying if we had any problems just call back. Incompetent from the customer service on the phone all the way to the serviceman at my house. They installed a thermostat for $225 and didn't "diagnose" the heater problem because I "didn't tell them to." I'm not the pro. I shouldn't have to tell them how to do their job. So I called C&L Heating & Air-Conditioning and they got my heater working by "diagnosing" that I needed a new furnace, and installed a Nest thermostat for no extra charge to make up for "Jerry" ripping me off. Sure wish I had looked at yelp before calling Jerry's Plumbing. Our water heater was installed by them several years ago, so when the pilot light wouldn't stay lit, I called them. January 25th William from Jerry's Plumbing came to check out the water heater. He was able to light the pilot (guess I didn't do it right). That cost me $139. He thought maybe the wind just blew out the pilot. Since it was under warranty, I suggested we replace the pilot assembly. William said he would order the part and call me in a couple of days when it came in. No call from William for SIX days, so I called Jerry's Plumbing again. Called FOUR more times and re-lit the pilot TWO more times before William would call me back. He said he ordered the part and didn't know why it hadn't come in yet. I called the water heater manufacturer and they told me to call Ferguson's and they would order the part for me. When I called Ferguson's there were no outstanding orders for the pilot assembly, which means William didn't order the part. I ordered the part myself. It arrived at Ferguson's two days later as promised. I called Zierman's plumbing to replace the part. They came the same day and only charged me $110 for the labor. Shouldn't have been this difficult! I will NEVER use Jerry's Plumbing again. read more

Called them on a Saturday afternoon to fix a plumbing blockage. They were all booked up but Kristin said she would see what she could do. They fit me in and got everything fixed in a quick and timely manner. William was the plumber, he was courteous, friendly, and efficient. Couldn't ask for a better response time, a fair price, and most importantly, friendly service. They went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of when they didn't have to. This was the biggest mistake I have made in a long time. PLEASE Save your $ and time. This company comes across as a stand up, professional business, but is far from it. We had a wall heater that needed a new pilot or something, (I'm not a plumber)....well a really nice guy came, started the work and gave us a bid of (NO MORE, than $200.00) This was in December of 2014. After not hearing back from them for 3 Months, I thought I should call. We had not paid a dime. After calling and explaining what had happened they scheduled an appointment for the next day. I told them I could not pay them until next week. The Girl on the phone was very cool about that and said no problem. Well the Dude showed up and asked for the money, I told them what the lady on the phone said and he called them ...long story short! She lied!!!! I paid them. Ended up paying $70.00 more than I was quoted. and had to deal with the worst people EVER. Very poor communication had a service man Go to the complete wrong house two days in a row they got the billing address and service Address mixed up ! After going to house I had to call back the service man to inquire for our rental ! He said It was Repairable and was heading to shop and would call me back with estimate and if they had the part ! Congratulations to Jerry's for being the recipient for my first ever Excellence in Incompetence (EiC) Award, achieving the dubious honor of being possibly the worst service provider I've ever had to suffer through. How did this company attain this distinction? Here are the lowlights: 1. Many EiC points for failing to get the most basic requirement right - ordering the necessary equipment (a water heater) to arrive in time for the scheduled project start, causing a delay of almost three weeks. 2. Mega EiC points for failing to install the equipment properly and refusing to take any further responsibility. This required us to hire a professional plumbing company to come out at our expense to get the job right. 3. Several more EiC points for the generally dour and rude demeanor of its staff as well as the exceedingly frustrating situation `of the staff apparently having no way to share information with each other. It seemed like I was talking to the company for the first time every time I called - gritting my teeth, fearing the worst, justifiably. 4. Honorable EiC points for Home Depot for referring me to this company in the first place. If you use HD for professional installation services and they recommend these guys, run for the Price Canyon hills and call a real company. My AC began not functioning during the middle of a heat wave so we called our home warranty who contracted with Jerry's. They sent someone by who said it was simply because our air filter wasn't new enough. He put freon in it and said everything was functioning fine, which ended up being a band aid fix. It stopped functioning again yesterday (just a little over a week later!) and we called the home warranty again. They sent someone else out immediately who told us that the home warranty has fired Jerry's because they were so bad and got so many complaints. The man from the new company immediately diagnosed the issue and was able to help us far more than Jerry's ever did. I will never recommend Jerry's to anyone, ever. Our home warranty picked Jerry's plumbing for our leaking tankless water heater. They only have one guy who repairs this type of water heater so it was an 8 day wait with no hot water and we have 2 small children and a baby. I cancelled our appointment on Wednesday but unfortunately they did not record the first cancellation. On Sunday I received a reminder text message they were still coming so I called their after hours answering service to again notify them we no longer needed their service. Well Monday morning Adrian from Jerry's plumbing showed up and apparently never received my cancellations. Adrian was very nice and even offered to call the home warranty company to ensure we would not be charged our "co-pay." Long story short Jerry's emphatically stated our home warranty was still charging us the co-pay. I called our home warranty who stated absolutely not, Jerry's was the one charging us and they will send me the invoice to prove it. I'm not sure how to deal with such unethical business practices and now I don't trust the home warranty company or Jerry's plumbing. Hence, the least I can do is warn others about it. Essentially Jerry's is charging us $85 claiming they never received my cancellations, while at the same time their plumber did not set foot in our garage or lay eyes on our water heater. I'm a business owner in Santa Maria, CA and I felt compelled to write a review about the customer service experience that I received or shall I say the lack thereof. As a business owner we are aware that our staff represent us in the office and unfortunately out of the office as well so it is imperative to always try and select staff that will promote your good business name that you have worked so hard to build. I called to ask questions about your services and to hopefully make an appointment as I was in need of them but to my surprise your staff member (lady named Adrian) that answered the phone could not have been any more short and rude which really blows my mind when I think about it still. All staff should be courteous to clients and potential clients but to think that you have a staff member answering the phone that is rude and disrespectful to what would have been an invoice/money generating new client and probably at some point repeat client in the future, which let's all be honest isn't that always the goal is to have repeat customers who also spread the word to their friends and family so they can hopefully become customers as well but now because that said "potential new customer" and fellow business owner was treated the way they were they will not be utilizing your services and instead the only feedback they have to give to others is a very negative one. Santa Maria is too small of a city to be able to get away with bad staff and regardless it should never be tolerated. Customers should not be treated the way that I was. I will never use or recommend a company that allows their staff to treat customers like that. read more
