After being referred here by Firestone Auto Care in West Haven when they couldn't pinpoint the cause of the whirring sound coming from my vehicle, I was skeptical at first. I thought I was going to need a brand new transmission that would cost half the value of my car, which gave me overwhelming anxiety. However, when I decided to pick up the phone, I greeted by their wonderful front desk staff, who offered me an appointment the next day. When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted warmly and given reassurance that my vehicle was in good hands. They were even able to diagnose my car noises on the same day I brought it in! When I was called with the results of their diagnostic testing, I was given a sigh of relief as the noises were coming from the wheel bearing as opposed to an internal noise from the transmission. They also recommended doing a transmission tune-up which I gladly accepted as it had been more than 70,000 miles since my last one. Even though all they did was a transmission fluid exchange, my car runs just like new, without any slipping of the transmission! If this was a random transmission shop, they would have easily tried to sell me a brand new unnecessary transmission for thousands of dollars I didn't have while keeping the actual source of the noise hidden from me. Sorry to have to say this, but this was the worst customer service I ever experienced. Incompetent mechanic, no communication, absurd excuses and continuous delays. After 5 weeks, I had to pay them $350 and hire my own tow truck to get my car out of there. They cannot fix manual transmissions. Poor service, quality and value. read more

After having my car serviced for $2000 the problem with my vehicle was not resolved at all and I was left with no answers. There was a TRANSMISSION issue with my car and they could not identify what it was. I went back FIVE times to have my car looked at in order to resolve the problem and was told to return to the dealership for answers. I feel completely defeated and cheated. When I called to ask about an estimate, the woman on the phone told me it would be $55 for diagnostics if I didn't have the repairs done there...as if I didn't know that already. I was cursed with the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder transmission issue, if you have one you either know about it or will. So I contacted Nissan and they quoted me $4500 to replace it. That came with a 1 year 12k mile warranty. Well Paul at Jerry's Transmission came in less than that and with a 3 year 36k mile warranty! It's a no brainier. I even told Nissan that my transmission guy gives a warranty three times what they offer on their own vehicles. They were prompt professional and fast. When we picked it up he even took the time to show us the damage to the tranny and explained what caused the failure. Top notch experience all the way. Never tried to oversell is anything. My car was acting weird. I went to get an oil change and my trans fluid was gunk. The oil change guy said to contact a transmission service. My dad does a lot of company car work and he suggested Jerry's in Guilford. What a great place! When i walked in they were super friendly. Paul greeted me and listened to all my concerns. He assured me that they would look at the car and let me know if anything major needed to be done before working on it. I knew I needed a transmission fluid flush and that's exactly what he did. He also said that it shouldn't be that dirty for only 70,000 miles. He was super honest with me and told me to look into my Ford warranty because the car is still rather new. They cleaned the inside of the car and had it done very quickly! The service was only $150 and the car runs much better! I will still follow up with the dealer only because there was a recall on my left axel seal which could be dripping trans fluid. Jerry's was great. They told me to stop in at 10,000 miles more just to check and make sure everything was alright. They were super honest. All the employees were friendly. Paul answered all my questions. I had a problem that I was unsure if it was a transmission issue, or other mechanical issue. The owner took my car for over 15 miles (I knew the odometer reading in/out) and he detected a failed relay. He offered FOR Free to disable the relay (I lost maybe 1/2 MPG) or due to difficulty to replace the part charge a fair fee. I never had anyone spend that much time - FOR FREE (I did pay a thank you). Since then I have had my routine transmission fluid changes done at Jerry's - always a Positive experience. Unusual for me but I absoultely trust this place. I was pointed towards this shop my my normal mechanic. I believe i was going to a reliable, honest, FAIR, shop, due to the reviews I've read and since they have been around for almost 50 years! However, I drive a $40,000 car, and I regret leaving it in the care of these people. I needed my transmission rebuilt in my Acura TL. 1) The staff was very friendly and happy about charging me more than they originally quoted me. Almost $600 more. But at least it was good to see smiles from the blue eyed people robbing me. 2) They told me they had to jump my car, because they left the keys in it. 3) After I payed, and walked out to my car I noticed 5-10 parallel scratches 3.9 inches long on my hood! When I mentioned it to the employee, I was told " I have no idea guy" and he walked into the back and started to do something. 4) Now its a week after dropping my car off. I just paid. Now getting into my car and the batteries dead again, someone left the keys in the ignition on. There were brown pine needles all over the inside of my car. which means they store it outside ( after i requested that it be stored inside) and they must have had the sunroof open because the pine needles were INSIDE the car. I cannot reccomend this business. Brian of Jerry's transmission was one of the most unprofessional "greasemonkeys" I've ever encountered. I dropped my car off there to have a whineing noise investigated I called at the end of the day to check the status and Brian said that he would get to it tomorrow... I said that was fine. The next day came and I heard nothing and then the next and the next. I called him on a Fri. evening aroud 4:30 PM to see if it had been taken care of.Not only had nothing been done but after questioning him as to what was attempted he began to repeat the same exuse of being busy and then started blatently lying to cover himself.
