Jersey Bagels is PERMANENTLY CLOSED -- sold as of April 2026 to a CHAIN bagel place called Bagel Bazaar. Tried the new place this week, and the taste was ok, but they were unusually soft on the outside (usually bagels have a harder crust outside.) Sometimes the bagels are fresh and sometimes they are not. Several times lately they are out of the bagels I want. This is at various times and sometimes as early as midmorning. Not great bagels. I got an everything bagel that didn't have hardly anything on it and really just tasted like garlic. Kids got chocolate chip pancakes and said they weren't good. We're hunkered down because of the coronavirus. Hadn't had a bagel in about a week, withdrawals setting in. So I went onto Grubhub and ordered 6 onion bagels- 1/2 lb scallion cream cheese -and a bagel w/ lox cream cheese. I ordered it the night before for next morning delivery. They confirmed 8:30 as the delivery time. I was a bit skeptical because few things go as planned these days. The delivery showed up at 8:20. I was in shock for two reasons. One it was early and two the young man found out home. The community we live in has a very difficult layout and most people get lost. The reason for the 3 stars isn't for Grubhub- they're a 5 star on this one. The bagels were big and I received exactly what I ordered. Ordered from Grubhub for a pick up delivery. Each order of bacon was 3 small extremely burned pieces. The bagel with lox and cream cheese had the tiniest sliver of lox. And bagel and roll both didn't seem fresh at all. They also forgot our drink in the order. Grubhub was great and refunded the total but would never order from them again :( read more

I will give them another star because the lady who dropped my bagel doesn't seem to be working there anymore. Someone said they changed management again so I thought I would give it another try. It's changed management probably 3-4 times since I moved here a few years ago which isn't great. The bagels here now are a little small and very dense. I really like larger bagels rather than small ones. I bought a bagel for $1 and bright it home to put my own cream cheese on. Definitely a little too small for me and I will decide whether to give the place another try. All the bagels in the case looked small. Update: now i'm eating the bagel and it's pretty under-seasoned. It tastes like nothing or like cardboard. I probably won't be back. Update 2: While eating my tasteless bagel I decide it's not worth eating and I threw out the rest. Really not good. All I can say is don't!!!!! This bagel store uaed to be really good. But the new.owners have gone from bad to worse!!! The bagels are eok not great. But the employees don't speak or understand English very well, which makes ordering tough. I went in and there were carafes for seven coffee varieties. But four of them had coffee packages sitting under them and the carafe was empty. I asked an employee if they had any flavored coffee. It took him several repetitions to understand what I was asking. He finally grasped what I was asking about and said they had it. I asked where.and he walked towards coffee station. He showed me that they had the carafeS. This breakfast & lunch spot is located in a tiny strip mall with other similar small mom & pop shops. As their name implies their main offering here is their bagels. They've got this down with some surprisingly delicious and well made bagels. They even have a corn bagel which is something I haven't seen before. The bagel I had was an onion bagel with scallion cream cheese and unlike some other places they had it balanced perfectly. It wasn't overly loaded with onions or scallions which made for a satisfying and complete quick breakfast eat for me. The staff are extremely friendly in a small town kind of way and they seem to get a lot of regulars in here. This is definitely one of those easy to add to your morning routine kind of places. read more

Tough call here. I got a BEC on an everything and the bagel was soft and pale, really didn't do it for me at all. That said, I got a plain bagel and cream cheese for my 2 year old and it was nice and crisp on the outside and light and airy in the middle. I wish my sandwich had as good a bagel as my daughter. This place used to be great but has plummeted since under new management. I walked in this morning and it smelled like sour milk. I decided to stay because it is generally clean in there. There were rugs in the countertop (by the coffee), I was the only person in there and the lady had to ask me what I wanted twice then forgot my ketchup and went to give me a packet so I asked her to open the sand which up to put ketchup on it and she did. I kindly let her know that the place smelled and she said that it was because they were making blueberry bagels. I said "blueberry bagels smell like sour milk?" And she said "it smells good" so I said "it doesn't smell good in here. I'm trying to help you out because not a lot of people would stay to order in a place that smells like this". Then I get to my office, open up my sandwich. I ordered two eggs over medium well, cheese, salt , pepper and ketchup on a roll. My eggs were over easy and the sandwich was a complete mess, the roll was stale, the cheese wasn't melted and the ketchup that I asked for three times covered maybe the surface area of a gnat. If you're wondering, my sandwich ended up in the trash where it belongs. I will NOT be going here anymore. Now to find another bagel place that is in my way to the office. read more

Unlike other reviewers, I can solidly state this places DOES NOT have the best bagels in NJ... It tastes like bread disguised as a bagel. Alas, it's so hard to find genuine bagels, the way they are supposed to taste, outside of NYC, but this place doesn't even come close. The prices are just as high as other places but the decor is distracting- outdated, uncoordinated, and just plain tacky. Obviously the profits are not being funneled back into the restaurant or into better ingredients. The staff was super friendly tho and they definitely get a star for that. I'm torn with my review for this place. Food: I love it. The bagels are delicious and the sandwiches are always on point. I've never had a bad sandwich. Coffee is always stocked and fresh. Breakfast deal of bagel with butter and medium coffee can't be beat. The prices of all items are fairly reasonable, and is definitely worth it. Service: Hit or miss. The ladies are really nice when they are talking to you. If they start talking to each other or a friend that comes in, you can get ignored and not taken care of. They bring a lot of personal stuff up in front of customers, which is not professional. I could understand teenagers doing things that like, but not grown women. Cleanliness: The place is as dirty as can be. The floor doesn't look like it was cleaned in who knows how long. The staff do not wear gloves when preparing food. Flies are the norm. I go here a few times a year and this is my first review (of cumulative visits). So the bagels/sandwiches are "satisfactory" and the service needs to improve. First they have made a few errors in my orders (but it's so close to home, it "was" just convenient). Secondly, they insist on a Tip (15-25%)...NO option on the credit card machine for NO tip. Having grown up on "bagels and lox (nova, actually)" from Long Island and NYC, I know what I'm talking about here. This place is the one to head to for your bagel and lox fix. Came a couple of days ago, needing breakfast on a rush, but wanting to splurge on the bagel and lox thing. Didn't have super high expectations since I haven't found anything in NJ as good as the real thing in NY. I was wrong! Yay! The bagels were very good - crunchy (but not crumbly) crust, soft, slightly doughy interior. Again, yay! The nova was GREAT! Better than nova at the best supermarkets around. Better than the nova at every other Central Jersey bagel shop I've tried (and I've tried many). Not only better, but excellent - tender, mild, no stringy bits, flavorful but not fishy. I couldn't write this review before because for the last two years I've worked at this establishment! Now that I've moved I can really tell my opinion of the place. Amazing and whenever I'm in Jersey I will be making a bee-line here. I am extremely familiar with the ingredients and process by which they make their bagels and how it is a labor of love they take VERY seriously. The tuna, the egg salad, heck, the cream cheeses are all home made and were a pleasure to make. We never skimped; "eh add a little more! Don't tell anyone" could be heard at least once a day regarding how to make our sandwiches the best around. The workers and the guests were a family, I know because I was one of them! We would have serious discussions about which brand of Turkey bacon is the best, whether or not we should carry avocado (we do!!), and plenty of other things that are purely for the customer. And as a family run and owned business we listened to the customers if they had an opinion! Fresh, delicious ingredients, always! I could not sing the praises for this place any more. Mind you all she did was put on gloves then stood there discussing a personal matter and didn't even bother to work on my order while talking. Then it wouldn't be a problem but you make a customer wait until you're done with a personal conversation? Why don't you ask the other 3 people there to my order then. To top it off..my order was incorrect because I got plain instead of veggie cream cheese... Complete fail! Maybe if you paid attention to your customer you would have gotten it right. Best bagles around S.Brunswick. Period. We are regular here. We go atleast twice a month on weekends. The bagles are simply awesome and service us good too. Very cost effective. The store is not super shiny and all. You can see it needs a face-lift but to my observation most of the times you get great food in such places only ;) I don't care if they don't wear gloves. It's a family run business totally managed by women. It's a family type atmosphere. so for me, It would almost feel like asking your aunt or nieces to wear gloves when you are at breakfast to their place So, I totally ignore the decor. They do Great Roll! :-) This place is great. The people are the most friendly people and they make their food fast and terrific. Try their Fried Roll...absolutely delicious. I have it with scrambled eggs (as a sandwich) or fried eggs (as a platter). And, of course, their bagels are great too.
