Some coworkers and I tried to grab lunch here the first day they opened - big mistake. Instead, we waited until our office ordered lunch and we had the leftovers. Apparently we were the first so they gave us extra sandwiches! I was in the office working this weekend and needed to grab some lunch so I called ahead to Jersey Mike's for a cheese steak sub. The staff was super friendly on the phone and in person too! There obviously weren't too many people there on a Saturday but all of the people behind the counter seemed genuinely happy - which is hard to find. I would definitely come here again, especially since it's so close and you don't have to walk too far in the cold. Ok, so I decided to go back during lunch after looking over the menu online. I actually got in the right line this time and actually GOT FOOD! Staff was ok except I got yelled at to repeat my order by someone behind the counter a few mins after I gave it to a person who took the orders in the hot sub line. I wasn't expecting that. I've been here twice now, and both times everything was above-average. The first time was because a co-worker of mine brought me back a coupon for a sandwich for 1$. I went with the #9 as the person at the door recommended it to me. Was not disappointed at all, it reminded me of the #9 from Jimmy Johns except this one has bacon. Went again today with a friend and got the same sandwich it was so good. A bit pricey I guess, but not when you consider the location, and the size of the sandwich. I will also comment that the staff is super efficient, and many other restaurants could learn something from Jersey Mikes in those regards. read more

Okay. So, Jersey Mike's looks like a great lunch spot in the loop - and they are conveniently open on Saturdays as well. I do not know anything about it so had no prior knowledge before stepping in. The service was very friendly and they were knowledgeable about their sandwiches. However, they are SO slow. I can't imagine coming here during my lunch or it would be spent all in line. I understand that they slice your meat and cheese when you get there (which is great), but they have to tweek their system to make it work faster. Also, my boyfriend had the regular turkey on white and it was sub-standard. I, however, got the turkey club on wheat and it was wonderful. Their white bread is too much bread, but I think the wheat is a bit thinner. The bacon was also perfectly crispy and just the right amount. It is a real good value. This was my first time visting Jersey Mike's and I can definitely say it'll be my last. I had the buffalo chicken wrap and while it was ok, I can't say it was anything to write home about. First off, the fact that Jersey Mike's doesn't offer spinach wraps is astonishing to me. I ended up getting the plain flour wrap which was gummy and kinda bland. The pieces fo chicken were small and the tomatoes were sparse. The wrap was big but when it's filled with mostly lettuce the bigger size ends up getting canceled out. I ended up throwing away most of the meal because eventually the chicken ran out. Who wants to eat just lettuce, tomato pieces and gummy flour?? Additionally, I ordered my wrap without cheese and onions. When I told the young lady taking the orders (a skinny black girl) that I only wished to have lettuce and tomato she acted like I'd ordered something extremely odd. She preceeded to relay the message to the sandwich maker behind the counter very loudly. She told him she had instructions on a "weird order" and the two of them exchanged judgemental glances about the speciality order. I felt the exchange was unneccesary and unprofessional. Heaven knows I'm not the first person in history to order something simply with lettuce and tomato!! This store is terribly managed and they are so rude. My boyfriend and I placed an order online and it said it would be ready in 20 mins, when we arrived at the time it was suppose to be ready the order wasn't there, my boyfriend asked where it was, she rudely said someone already took that order. We were confused as we just got there at the time we were suppose to, so we asked her to make the food again she refused and said we would have to pay AGAIN. Mind you, we both work in the loop and order pick ups often from all over, this has never happened. She continued to yell and say she doesn't have time to talk to us because she is busy. I couldn't even believe how she was acting while we still have no food that we already paid for. She was at fault and then on top of that yelling at us? We left we don't need to be disrespected by someone who we are paying for something, we disputed the charge thru the bank but this store's staff including the manager needs a politeness refresher and how to handle situations that they are at fault for. read more

Alright, it's time for a corporate review. I've been here twice, and each time I've gotten their Italian Sub, and it is tremendous. EXACTLY what I want from an Italian Sub. Great, fresh cut meat, crispy lettuce and onion, sweet tomato, a bit of mayo to bring it all together. Bread is a good carrier of all toppings, meaning you generally avoid the fallout slide that occurs when trying to consume a 3lb sandwich. Here's the thing with Jersey Mike's. Don't make it something it's not. You will not get an artisan sandwich. Their veggie toppings are a bit limited. That said, it's strengths are in providing a lot of substance for a pretty decent price. 6 inch's is more like 8. NOTE: I find that if you lift the sandwich to your mouth in the style of a bicep curl, you burn off most of the calories your putting on, bringing the overall health impact to roughly that of one of the other guys subs. read more

Went here for lunch. I hear the lines can get insane but I went at 1pm and it wasn't bad. The line moves a little slow only because they slice their meat to order. I got regular sized Jersey Shore's (YEAH BUDDY!) Favorite with everything. The bread had a nice chewy crust (as opposed to crusty) and soft inside. All the fixings seemed fresh but what I liked about it is that they drown the sub in vinegar, oil and spices and the bread was able to maintain it's integrity (but I could see it get really sloppy/soggy if not eaten right away). The deli meats and cheese were still flavorful and not completely overpowered by the oil, vinegar and spices. Overall it's a very good sub shop and I'd definitely go back to try out the different types of hot and cold subs and wraps. I'd say it's a better Jimmy John's. read more

Came here on a bday lunch freebie offer. Free regular sub and drink for free .99 when you sign up for their rewards program online. Nothing like a free lunch when you work downtown! So if you have a bday approaching go to their website and give them your email. The line in this place when I got there at 1pm told me they must be doing something right. Upon approaching the front of the line to order, I think I see why. They have a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, even philly cheesesteak ones. You can order different sizes, like regular or a large. I ordered regular chicken philly sandwich called the Chicago philly that come with lettuce, tomato, and mayo on whole grain and it was pretty good. They give nice size proportions and the meat was flavorful and tender. The set up is pretty similar to all the other made to order sandwich places like potbelly or jimmy johns. Interesting that you don't see many of these in the city, just the loop and I'm guessing maybe it's because they know that's where most people are Ok with dishing out $9-$10 for a sub meal. read more

Bad in all respects. Went here around 10:00 am. I ordered a bagel. Cashier did not know if they sold cream cheese?! Then waited close to 15 mins. to get my bagel as no less than 3 people were standing around and 1 guy cooking. They did not toast the bagel, but instead threw it on the grill with eggs being cooked for someone else. Seemed gross. After I get the bagel and am walking down the street I notice no cream cheese on the bagel. Go back to this dump and they hand me a tub out of the fridge with cream cheese. The City's health inspector was there so people seemed on edge, but come on people, think and do something other than starring into space. Will not return. read more

After hearing a bunch of my east coast friends rave about this place, I figured it was time to try it for myself. I probably made a poor decision with the buffalo chicken wrap after seeing the amazing looking sandwiches. The meat was all sliced fresh and they did a pretty good job of keeping the huge lines moving. My wrap was above average, but it's nothing that I would go out of my way to get. The person I was with ordered the turkey wrap and he said it was "the best wrap" that he has ever had. Well I've had every hot sub that they have on the menu which is bad because this location hasn't even been opened for a month. So trust me when I say that these sandwiches are out of bounds (which is a good thing). My favorite sandwich is the #20, the Grilled Pastrami Reuben. Definitely one of the best subs I've had and I love that they don't over do it with the sauerkraut. Between my co-workers and I, I think we've collectively tried everything on the menu and everything is good. The only issue I have with this place is that it's always packed....but whatever. I would have given Jersey Mikes 4 stars, but they messed up my order so they get 3 today. I ordered a CHICKEN chipotle cheesesteak sandwich, but they gave me steak. What if I didn't eat red meat? I went ahead and ate it because it would have taken too long to walk back and re-order. I'm on a time schedule. I will say that the sub was quite tasty. The subs there are HUGE. After reading the Yelp reviews, I see that you can order a mini sub, but that's not stated on the menu, so I'm guessing it's a bit of an insider tip. The one observation that I noticed is that 98% of the customers in this restaurant were men. I started counting the women, and there was just me and another lady in line, and the women that worked there out of about 50 people in the entire place. For some reason, this place really appeals to men. I noticed that Goodwins is the same way. Maybe men really like sandwiches..?.? If you have ever seen the kinda lunch rush created with the words "almost free food" in downtown Chicago... he gave away a lot of food that day. Everything is fresh as they can get it. One of my favorite places to go. I'm not an adventurer here so I always get the Club Supreme, Mikes way with mayo and bacon. The meat always tastes lean and fresh and the bread is just the right amount of filling. My complaint with sandwich places is that I feel bloated, but I can honestly say I've never felt bloated from a sandwich here. Whenever I have been here, the workers behind the counter are extremely friendly...even when it gets super busy, they always manage to get a smile on their face and it seems genuine. Super props to the staff here. This Jersey Mikes feels like any other Jersey Mikes. Cement floor, with benches and the tables are a bit small. When I began working in the Loop almost two years ago, I had never eaten at a Jersey Mikes. Nothing seemed appealing about it. Even though it was in my same building, I wrote it off entirely. Then last year's brutal winter came and forced my hand. Now I'm there every 2-3 weeks. I used to like all my sandwiches hot and toasted. I could force down a Jimmy John's sub but I never craved it. I think it's the freshness of the bread at Jersey Mike's gives it some texture; it's not chewy or grainy. Or it could just be that I like their "Mike's Way" preparation -- putting oil and vinegar on a sub is a life-changing discovery. Their meats and cheeses are fresh and cut with a deli slicer on demand, not pre-sliced, and I think it makes a big difference. I almost always go for the turkey sandwich but occasionally mix it up and order a hot sub like the Philly. I haven't found anything I don't like yet. It pays to be a frequent customer of Jersey Mike's. The Shore points program earns you free food and they always give out free chips and drink cards. Between that and Yelp deals it's consistently the most affordable lunch I can have in the Loop. Their customer service is very good at this location. I've only had one time when the line got unnecessarily long and one time when my order was missing something i asked for. Everyone is always very friendly here as well. There's ample seating but I always take my food to go. I very rarely have my expectations exceeded, especially by a chain, but Jersey Mike's has won me over; I imagine I'll be Duke here until I change jobs. read more

The Philly cheese steak is yummy, but it would be even better if they used Cheez Whiz! The line sitch for ordering is ridic. Usually, the hot line is to the right and the cold line is to the left. I'm familiar with it because I've been here a few times before. I went to the right to order my cheese steak, as per usual. The girl behinde the counter thought we were just paying and had already ordered previously down the line. She had no clue what was going on. Then my friend tried to order right after me, but another worker now took her place and he didn't understand what to do either. Is there still a hot line/cold line? What's happening? I don't blame the workers for being confused. There's about 30 of them all crammed behind the counter and they clearly don't know where they're supposed to be. I just picked up a sandwich and I loved it!!! I had the #7, regular turkey breast and provolone on wheat. My intention was to get a mini but forgot and just ordered a regular. Its HUGE! Luckily they cut it in half so I'll have the rest for dinner. The price is just right, not too expensive. The staff is very friendly and helpful! I will definitly go back again. I went here the other day with a friend because we are both lovers of sandwiches. I had heard good things about it, but was also warned to stay away from the chipotle cheese steak sandwich. We walked in and the whole place reeked of pickles, which is understandable for a sandwich shop, but it was a little overpowering. The person behind the counter offered us to try a slice of meat before taking our orders. He offered us cappicola... I don't like cappicola but took it politely and was planning on spitting it into a napkin when they turned around. This sample was followed by a sample of ham and then a slice of roast beef. I still had the cappicola in my mouth and was now forced to swallow. I appreciate the sample, but I didn't want it in the first place. I ordered the turkey and provolone "Mike's way" without onions and I think my friend got the Italian sub. These sandwiches were a lot bigger than I expected. I got the regular size. Lucky for me they cut it in half because I could only eat the half. The guy who made our sandwiches was very enthusiastic but I don't think he realized that he was splattering the oil and vinegar all over his pants as he made the subs, I didn't know how to tell him that he was making a mess and tried not to make a face about it. I feel bad. The sandwiches were great but I wish I would have ordered a smaller size. I saved the half for later and it was super soggy from the oil and vinegar, but nonetheless delicious. read more

I spied this place on my way to work and today seemed like as good a day as any to give it a try. I looked online at their menu and I liked that their sandwiches come in three sizes (mini, regular, giant) and that they also offer hot subs (i.e. cheesesteaks) as well as wraps, salads and soups. I went in and stood in the line. It's kind of a chaotic setup as they just call you over to the counter when they're ready, but first they ask you if you're ordering a hot or cold sub before you're directed where to go. I opted for a "mini" roast beef and provolone. They slice the meat, bread and cheese when you order, which was nice. What wasn't so nice is that one of the slices of my bread almost toppled off the counter but it was caught by the sandwich maker. Unfortunately he caught it with the hand that also held a dirty dishtowel. Maybe he thought I didn't notice because he tried to make my sandwich using the same piece of bread. I told him (nicely) that I wanted a piece of bread that didn't touch the dirty dish rag. He didn't say anything but did cut a new slice of bread. Then a few seconds later asked me how my day was going. I wasn't sure if he was being sarcastic or not or if he thought I was having a bad day because I wanted bread that hadn't touched a dirty dish towel. Anyway, I told him I was having a great day and he asked me what I wanted on my sandwich and moved it down the line. I told him what I wanted but the sandwiches were all backed up by then so I had to repeat it again when he was ready (not a big deal, but they should wait to ask because they're not going to remember until it's time to make your sandwich anyway and it seems inefficient). I asked for lettuce, tomato, pickle, oil, vinegar, and seasoning. When it came to the oil and vinegar he poured them on my sandwich until I had to beg him to stop drowning it. The sandwich itself was okay, nothing to knock my socks off. I'm sure it would have been better if it had less oil and vinegar because those were the main things I tasted. The mini is probably enough for a small appetite (clearly not me because I was still hungry) but I'd probably spend the extra buck and get a regular. I'd probably give it another try... read more

Oh Jersey Mike's.... I had so many good memories of you when I was living in ATL. You used to be right by my office and I would love your sandwiches... that is until I tried other sandwich shops in Chicago. Jersey Mike's is a big step above subway but not yet at a Hannah's Bretzel level. I tend to get their hot sandwiches; my personal favorite is the cheesesteak with onions & peppers. YUM. That sandwich is bomb, the other hot ones I'm not a big fan of. I recently tried the chicken parm sandwich and the chicken was kind of gross and chewy. This shop is right by my office and tends to get pretty packed during lunchtime so I would definitely try and get in around 11:30 to beat the rush. The sandwiches are reasonably priced for the amount of food that you get, I can barely finish a normal size sandwich based on the amount of meat that they give you. While I do love this particular location and the manager is awesome, I was a little disappointed with my order today. I felt rushed when ordering and telling what ingredients I wanted that I forgot to ask for something as simple as pickles because it doesn't come on the mikes way. My manager just asked me to "please go to that site and give it a bad rating" Came on a somewhat of a business lunch here, I looked at the menu awhile back when it opened and knew I'd never want to go here, but today I didn't have a choice- When you enter the menu is on a column to the right, but nothing directly in front of you while you wait in line-As well they have differnet lines, hot and cold, which is confusing b/c that sure didn't help the timing of my sandwich-The person taking orders gave us a menu but with 1/2 of the items on it- I felt rushed and just said "chicken parm" when I placed my order which I've never ordered that anywhere before-When you go to pay you don't know what the hell is going on for people are everywhere paying, ordering, waiting, getting drinks, standing for fun... My sandwich took 10 minutes-I could have been at Roti and had my food by the time I got my sandwich- The environment is what made the place horrible-It's just so convoluted and below a regular sandwich place, I don't get the hype about the place-Maybe that's how all sandwich places are in Jersey, hence why I'll never go to New Jersey- read more

Went to this location for the first time. I had never been to a Jersey Mike's before but I received a free sub for my birthday and I wanted to try it out! First, there was no indication of how or where to order as there were multiple lines without signs or direction. When I was finally able to order and go to the receiving line when someone yelled out "Mike's way!" at me and I did not know who she was talking to but she yelled again so I said that I ordered an Italian sandwich. She yelled out "Mike's way!" again so I said I had no idea what that means. She rattled off a series of ingredients one of which was peppers so I said "ok no peppers." She then said onions? I said yes everything but peppers. She said it does not come with this side pointing to ingredients. So I pointed to the other side and said I'll have everything here. I moved over and the cashier was annoyed and said "shes just trying to make your sandwich better" which was confusing because I was still confused as to what was going on and her tone made it seemed as though I had been rude in some way. As I stood by the register I showed her my coupon and held my ID. She annoyingly said that I needed my ID and I said yes it is right here. Finally, the process was over and I had no idea where my sandwich was because the girl yelling Mike's way had made 3 sandwiches since yelling for me. A great place for a quick, filling lunch. The staff are very efficient at lunch hour and crank out the food quickly and accurately. Turkey and provolone sub is a favorite and always full of flavor. They really have something here with fresh sliced meat. My Italian sandwich was delicious and meat quality was well above subway, and even slightly better than jimmy johns! Seems stuffy in here. Meh. Jersey Mike's handles the condiment game well. Lots of lettuce and onions, with an oil/vin sauce applied heavily. The pickles were actually high quality and not that over salted over processed garbage. You can do yellow or jolly peps to round things out. Jersey Mike's does bread right too! You can tell its fresh, and their herb and cheese just destroys subway. So my advise? Check the line, check the heat, and if conditions are right you should pay them a visit. read more

I decided to give this place a shot since I'm a sandwich fanatic and...as it turned out... I was VERY disappointed. First, the set up and ordering system in this place is extremely unorganized and confusing. Second, the price was off the wall...too expensive for a cold sandwich in my opinion and it's definitely too expensive when the sandwich itself was mediocre...no real flavor, the bread was too thick and the texture was off (FYI...I had the American Classic...ham and cheese). Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be giving this place another shot...I'll stick to Mr. Sub, Jimmy Johns and Subway...for what I paid for a single regular sandwich (5.75+tax)...I could have gone up the street to Mr. Sub and gotten chips and a drink with a seven inch sandwich of my choice for a meager $4.49!!!! read more
