Lots of options, and I went with the TJ's Club Special. Order taken and paid for at the front counter, and we selected a table near the front window. The place was definitely busy with both takeout and dine-in orders. Restaurant was well-lit, comfortable, and clean. Mishap #1, we noticed a lot of other order numbers being called besides ours so my wife went up to inquire and it somehow got labeled with a different patron's name and put off to the side. Hey, mistakes happen and the order contents itself were accurate. My wife got the half-sandwich and soup and made the comment that the soup was nice and hot. My Club sandwich was PACKED with meat like you'd expect if your grandma had made it. I got my sandwich with their pasta salad and it was delicious. Mishap #2, we were hoping to use the restroom before leaving but it was labelled "out of order". For all I know, a plumber might have been dispatched, but this is one of those things I would think you need to take care of ASAP when offering a dine-in option. The first thing we noticed was how dark in color they were and also the abundance of seasoning. My husband took a bite of one and immediately started coughing because of the super salty flavor of them. Having a long history in the restaurant business, we could tell they were re-fried and obviously re-seasoned. He returned them to the counter where they gave us a fresh batch without a problem. The new ones were visibly much better however, as long time customers of TJ's we noticed how much thicker the breading was than it used to be. I was disappointed the batter was so prominent I couldn't really taste the onion. I think they either changed their breading or changed the way they bread them. I wasn't a fan though so I will hesitate to order any breaded items from now on. The dining room, as always was bright and clean bustling with customers eating lunch. The service is nothing but friendly there every time we visit as well. I will continue to frequent TJ's Deli.

They have a small selection of produce, local meat, dairy and a nice craft beer selection. My husband got a black coffee but lots of people were getting drinks from their extensive coffee menu so don't hesitate to order what you like. I prefer water so that's what I had. The dining area was full when we got there but there were open seats at the counter and outside. We grabbed a couple stools at the counter where we could watch the coffee drinks being made. As a non-coffee drinker l, I'm still fascinated with coffee culture so it was fun seeing the different components going into each drink. While we waited for our main dishes we ate a piece of their Salted Honey Pie Bar. Oh my goodness it was love at first bite and I will be returning for that item alone! My husband said it reminded him of the filling in pecan pie without the pecans but it was not nearly as overly sweet. Instead this had a perfect balance of sweet and salty with a firm texture that held its shape in a delicious flaky crust. I think the Salted Honey Pie Bar here is one of my top 5 desserts. When the food arrived everything was hot and fresh. We shared everything so we started with the BAT sandwich. The bacon was delicious and crispy and the roasted tomato and arugula were so good too! I do wish it had a little more ingredients to it. For the price, it didn't seem as much of a value as some of the other items around the same price. The burrito was large and was topped with salsa, a little cheese and jalapeño. This is a dish meant to be eaten with a fork and knife. It's full of potato's, the house made tofu chorizo, egg and cheese. It packed a punch though so just be aware of that in case you need to cool off your mouth with a cold drink. It tasted like two slices of toast with crispy bacon. Good toast, good bacon, but some more veggies would have been nice. The Breakfast Burrito we ordered with house made tofu was loaded with potatoes, cheese, eggs and topped with salsa. It was spicy and filling, well worth the trip here. We ordered a cup of coffee, but weren't sure of their refill policy on drip coffee, but none were offered even though we sat at the counter. We also had a Salted Butter Pie which was delicious. Now, I have a very established place for my favorite reuben in the whole Triad, and that is O'Briens. But this place definitely comes in a close shave behind. Order one here and you're gonna get a PILE of meat, sauerkraut based on your preference, the thousand island dressing and on tasty rye bread. What better? One of the best part of the Carving Board is their side selection. You can get just something to go with your sandwich, or go bigger to have some for later. There is a lot available, and all made in house. Their cold sesame noodles are a favorite of mine, so I got a pint of them so I'd have some for home too. In general, I would say don't miss this place, kind of a Winston-Salem institution.
