haven't been here in years and now i remember why ! I ordered the bacon ranch chicken philly sub. I got the reg size which is probably like a subway 6 inch . It's so expensive here for the sandwich alone was over $10 dollars geesh ! The ranch and cheese was good but the chicken itself and the bacon were horrible. So for 4 years we've gone there and also order takeout 2x a week because it's the healthiest food in the area that's quick. Customer service is always mediocre and pick up orders have never once been correct. you subtract or add something and it doesn't get done etc. Today I went in and it was completely different. The place was clean there was only one person ahead of us. Christian greeted us after he was finished with the initial customer. Isabel came to assisted with dressing the sandwiches which was Giant Tuna and two regular Turkey she was.very sweet and then Aston came to cash me out. If you're celiac, don't trust this place. They may have gluten free buns available, but they put everything, including all of the bread, on the same grill and they use the same counter for all of the sandwiches. When I ordered I specified that I had a gluten allergy, and if I hadn't been standing there watching I would have gotten so sick from it. When I asked if they could clean the grill and utensils, the person got a manager, who just repeatedly said they always do it that way. When I said I'd never been there before, she said "Oh, we didn't know you'd never been here before." How could they possibly know who had been there before? We went to Jersey Mike's just-opened branch in Derby, only to get harassed by the manager who then went on to incredibly rudely flirt with (and give cookies to) a girl in gym shorts with her boyfriend getting completely weirded out. He then scowled at all the other women in the line, as if they where ruining his shot at picking up a woman a third of his age. They left in a hurry, and he followed them out to give her a gift card and a wink. Considering all the employees let this scene unfold, and it completely ruined our experience here, we will NOT be back to this brand new and super convenient Jersey Mike's no matter how much I enjoy the brand. Jersey Mike's has always been my favorite. Recently however they are really skimping on the sandwiches. I bought a turkey sandwich and a roast beef, both mini's. They put 3 slices of paper thin turkey on one and 4 slices of paper thin roast beef on the other. Are you kidding me here. Almost 7.00 for 3 slices of turkey, or 4 slices of beef! Crazy! And this is not the first time. The last 2 times the same thing. Then to make matters worse, the girl dressing the sandwiches is taking her sweet time on the sandwich before mine, a call in order, and singing and dancing in her own little world while I am standing they waiting. I am done with Jersey Mike's and will be going back to Subway! With their new menu and bread much better value for your money! As a regular at the Jersey Mike's in Norwalk (see my other review) I was looking forward to going to the new one in Derby. The food was just as good but the service was not. Apparently the staff was trained on what questions to ask but not trained on how to listen to the guests answer. She asked me what I wanted and then started making totally different sandwiches from the ones I ordered. While waiting in line to place our order we unfortunately had to listen to inappropriate comments and remarks a man was making to a female patron. This conversation was so outrageous when we turned around to see who was talking like this we were surprised seeing a man wearing a Jersey Mike's shirt. We will give it another try in the future and our expectation would be for much better service and manners. read more

I love Jersey Mike's! I'm so glad I found one near me in Connecticut. The service at the Derby shop was great. Very friendly and quick. The subs here are so much better the Subway! I don't know why there aren't more of these franchises around here. Hopefully, the brand will grow and we'll see more stores. I went to Jersey Mike's about 11:00 AM. The place is very clean and very good parking. The food was good, but the same as other sub shops. There were 2 of us in line and the person behind the counter waited on the guy in front of me and before she was done with him she started to ask me what I wanted. I am disabled and have trouble walking and the purpose for delivery was so I didn't have to go out. I wish I could give jersey mikes in derby more stars. I'd like to give them another try and I hope the owner reads the reviews and uses it as a tool for improvement. My husband and I have been here twice. The first time was when they first opened. It was unorganized and the staff was not the friendliest. We ordered a hot and cold sub and then 10 minutes later we were told we couldn't order hot subs at that particular spot. Why didn't someone tell us when we ordered it? ... It was new and very crowded so we understood. My husband really enjoyed his steak and cheese and I enjoyed my veggie sub. My only complaint is that it was soaked in oil, but I was still able to tell that the ingredients were fresh and the bread that wasn't soaked (the top half) was fresh and yummy. We gave them another try today. They've been open for a while now and we figured things would've been better than the first time. Unfortunately that's not the case. We went around 2:30 today and the girl behind the counter had a huge attitude. One example, when my husband asked for salt and pepper on the subs she replied, "we don't just keep pepper back here". Geesh he was sorry he asked! My husband got some kind of spicy steak and cheese. He loves spicy! He loads his food up with hot sauce or red pepper flakes. However, this sub was so full of spice that he couldn't taste anything else on it. He couldn't eat the sub. Mine was a veggie. Again, ingredients and bread are nice and fresh but what is with this place and their over use of oil and vinegar? I had to take it apart and eat it like a salad because the bread was just complete mush. My husband said before I opened it that she wasn't paying attention when she did the oil and vinegar... It was worse than the first visit. We did get a California chicken sandwich as well, my husband was going to bring it to work for lunch but since he couldn't eat the steak sandwich because of the overload of spicy he ate the chicken one instead. I NEVER give a review of a place after only one visit, so many variables can factor into a one-time bad experience I would want that to overshadow potential for otherwise very good experiences. I've been going to the Derby Jersey Mike's since they opened. Starting with the sandwiches - Five Stars. My family absolutely LOVES Jersey Mike's more than any other sub shop. That the meat is sliced fresh as the sub is being made is the first standout point, and a thinner slice on the cold cuts enhances the flavors of the meats and cheeses. The vegetables are fresh and plentiful. And the sprinkle of herbs to go with the vinegar & oil is a subtle addition that makes a difference in the overall taste of the sandwich. The hot subs are also delicious, and my favorite is the #55 Big Kahuna Chicken Cheesesteak. They are not cheap, but the qualify of the ingredients is worth it to me, and a giant sub can easily feed 3 or 4 people . Both my husband and son will eat half of a giant for dinner and bring the other half to work the next day for lunch so when you break it out like that they are average priced. They also offer Miss Vicky's brand chips in addition to some Frito Lay products so there's better quality there, too. Now on to the staff - 4.8 Stars. There have been some outstanding employees (Christina, Layla and a few others), an occasional worker here and there who should maybe consider a job not working with the public (but they're never there for long and thus the .2 star deduction) and others who are friendly and efficient. I've found them to be very accommodating. I work in Naugatuck and also use them for catering meetings from time to time and even though we aren't right there in town they still go out of their way to come to Naugatuck whenever possible, I've only had to go pick up from them once. read more

This location has in general been reliable. In this current COVID environment We just really wish the food industry would take this more seriously. Today we ordered sandwiches online and paid via the app. Upon arrival the doors were locked and a few people tried to open the doors. An employee greeted them by opening the door with her gloves on. The same gloves she was just wrapping and prepping food with - and returned to the same activity with the same gloves after touching the door. Then we were told that because of the buy one get one promotion they were out of food and couldn't fill anymore orders, including ours. They had no idea what to do as far as refunds because of course, as usual, the manager was not in the store. My first time here and probably my last. It's simply a Subway that slices their own meats and has a grill. They charge more for a sub than subway for about the same quality. At least subway won't take 10 minutes to make me a sub like this place. Maybe it's because they are new. But the employees need to speed things up because I know I could run circles around them. If I could give this location 0 stars, I would. I have been to 3 other locations in CT but this one takes the cake for the worst. The food is clearly not fresh. The tomatoes on my sub were moldy and soggy! There were bugs all over the place and the service was terrible. The store manager, Mike, was so snarky and rude to his employees. He also was very creepy and made an inappropriate comment about my shirt. Long story short, if you're in the mood for bugs, mold, and sexual harassment, go to the Derby location! I have problems EVERY SINGLE TIME I go here and the only reason I keep going back is because my husband loves it. Its not worth the trip in gas to drive back there for them to correct the same mistake they continue to make and to drive back home. The tip question on the credit card machine is totally unnecessary. For the cost of the sandwich, they should be skimpy on the meat and the way they assemble is beyond messy and difficult to eat. I believe the staff needs retraining and/or have a guideline as to what goes on each sandwich. This is the 2nd time I've ordered #8, the club sub, and they didn't put bacon on the sandwich. I order the club purposely for the bacon and to not get not even 1 piece is disappointing. From now on if my husbands wants a sub from this place, unfortunately he will have to go and get it because I can't take the frustration of having to deal with incorrect sandwiches. I couldn't even eat the thing, it was like I got a mini 8 dollar sauce wrap with a tiny side of veggies. My contractor treated me for lunch one day last week while we were installing kitchen cabinets. First off I have to say I am not really a fan of sub type shops, Subway freaks me out but when I am out and it's the only game in town I break down and will eat there. We both had the meatball subs with chips and a soda. Came to just over $22.00. They were pretty good, way better than subway and the regular size was more than enough for me.
