Whoever knew Jersey Mikes tasted this good. I heard many great things about it but it wasn't until the forest hills locations opened up and I got to experience it for myself. Out of all the subs I was told to get the tuna sub. Thank god I did. It's life changing. I order the tuna sub on white bread with lettuce, onions, honey mustard, pepper, oil, vinegar and tomatoes. I order the regular size and it was such a mess but tasted amazing I wanted it for the lunch the next day but made a few adjustments. No vinegar, but still a little messy then I took out the oil so now I get the vinegar and oil on the side. I'm in love with this tuna sub that I started buying it at least 3x a week for lunch. I got to experience the mini and regular size. I normally order from the App but there times I order in store. They make the subs right in front of you. This location is clean. All I can say about Jersey Mike's subs is in a bind the rebel to make nine giant heroes for us with no questions asked in 45 minutes We started at Subway catering which was a joke and a half never use it always go to Jersey Mike's amazing. When ordering, I was disappointed that white american is the only cheese choice. a philly without whiz is barely a philly. but hey, I can be flexible. I got to the park and realized there was no hot sauce in the bag. fortunately, the corner bodega hooked me up. so I've got my sandwich, small bag of salt & vinegar chips and a frosty root beer. things were looking up. until I looked down. I was surrounded by a half dozen ravenous looking zombie squirrels... and a few shady looking pigeons. "get out of here, this is MY lunch! " but they were not deterred. they crept closer, some kind of squirrel hive-mind coordinating their attack. like a flash, eyes blazing, the ringleader leapt to the bench next to mine, feinted left, flashed right, and landed square in my lap. astonished, I jumped. high. the sandwich flew, and before it hit the ground, the savage squirrel pack descended on it, a tornado of fur, bread, meat, and cheese. As a first-ever customer of Jersey Mike's, we really wanted to like this place, we really, really did. From the moment you open the door, make sure you don't bump anyone because, as other reviewers have noted, it gets pretty cramped in there pretty fast. We were there Sunday before noon. The line itself moved relatively quickly, however I learned that may be because customers are rushed to order as soon as they enter. I did explain to one of the gentlemen that we had never been to a Jersey Mike's so we needed to read the menu first. We were told to move away from the menu and join the line---we hadn't butted infront of anyone, mind you, we were standing somewhat to the side of the counter to be able to read the selections---and handed paper menus (which I was grateful for--but hey, why are they behind the counter only??). I'd suggest that if customers are taking up space by deciding what to order, then perhaps follow what many restaurants/fast food places do and place a menu in the window facing the street. Placed our order and waited. I do like that the meat is freshly chopped, instead of just sitting around in tubs, and the ingredients I could see on the sandwich-making counter were very fresh-looking. Our first-time experience started to take a rather frustrating turn, though. The male cashier asked abruptly "Do you have a Shore Card?" I replied "No...I've never been here before, I don't know what that is?" PERFECT opportunity for staff to tell me about the program and score repeat business, right?? Wrong---not another word was said except for how much money needed to be forked over. Handed me my receipt and walked off. While we were still waiting for our food..I noticed little cards attached to the register and thought "oh, maybe this is what he meant" and, upon seeing my confused face trying to figure what a Shore Card was, the female sandwich-maker explained it's a frequent buyer card to get a free sandwich at some point...leaving me perturbed, again, why the cashier wouldn't have even shared that with me considering I'd literally just told him I'd never been there, never been in any Jersey Mike's before...maybe he didn't care about repeat business? Maybe it was too much of a hassle to explain it to new customers? There was no one else waiting behind us at that point so I don't think that was the issue? But, cool, female worker took the time to explain and mentioned I'd need to scan the code on my phone--no problem! I politely asked her "Am I able to get points later somehow for the sandwiches I just paid for?" Now mind you, literally less than 5 minutes had passed, here...Her reply: "No, you can't. You get them when you pay." Huh? I just dropped almost $50 on sandwiches, mere minutes ago, and you're telling me I can't redeem any points for them? What's the point of telling me about the program NOW, then, if it's completely useless to me??? I handed her the info card back and told her "Don't worry about it then." A customer who was waiting before us even tried telling her that it IS possible to still get credit for orders placed from the receipt. Female worker still shook her head saying no. More annoyance began to set in for us, and at that point honestly I just wanted to get our sandwiches and leave...Saving grace was the gentleman from earlier when we'd first ordered---I get the feeling he may be a manager of some sort---who asked me what the confusion is over the card..when I told him, he said we'd be able to get points later from using the receipt. I then gestured to the female worker next to him and said "well she just said we can't...and I would have asked for the points before but when I told the male cashier that I'd had no clue what a Shore Card was, he didn't say anything or tell me anything about it." Gentleman (Manager?) explained the process to me, how to get the link on my phone, etc. Honestly he seemed one of the few workers there who actually cared about customer service. So if anyone new to the restaurant, like me, is confused over Shore Cards, now you know. So then what happens? We get the food home. Still piping hot even though we live about a 10 minute drive away. Two of the sandwiches were sloppily made, and sadly looked like they were thrown together and stomped on before being put in the bag, leaking juices and fillings everywhere. I can see why the menu would appeal. However, ordering $50 worth of food should not be this irritating. Between the run-around about the points card, the cashier obviously not caring about service at all, the price vs. poor condition of the sandwiches, I honestly don't know if I would return. I had such high hopes walking in, and part of me feels like a fool. :( One more thing: If that dark-haired man who chopped the meat is NOT a Manager, he needs to be promoted because he was the only one who seemed to actually take pride in being there. Let me say this about Jersey Mike's! This is one of the freshest sandwiches I've ever had! I ordered the giant had half for lunch and the other for dinner! Staff so nice anytime I go there. No matter who is behind the counter great service. First off let me start by this place is small and it makes the lunch crowd seem jam packed so give them some time to get your order right. I was in the neighborhood and figured i give it a shot. My wife and I cannot find enough praise for JM. Being seniors and without a car, we decided to try ordering from the JM in Forest Hills, Queens. Within minutes we were notified that our orders would be delivered by a certain time as well as who the driver would be. Well , it turns out that the delivery came exactly at the time quoted. Food was very poor . My sandwich maker drowned my sandwich with oil then took off the lettuce an tomato's an the proceed to drown the sandwich with vinegar . The sandwich was so soggy and nasty. Well you decide...it's a very small place for assembly line sandwich making. You order with one person then the other person makes the sandwich, then the other person cuts and wraps it, then the cashier rings you up. This is all taking place in a 3 foot area and 5 people touch your sandwich - they are bumping into each other and the kicker no one is wearing a mask or hair net. The real estate person for this chain needs more sense as well as the operations manager. The first and only time I got a sandwich it was tasty but wrong and I had a coupon. I will not be back.
