Simply stated: this is the best sandwich chain near my office. The ingredients are always fresh, the service is SUPER-friendly, and the prices are reasonable considering the overall value for what you get. I'd had JM down in Atlanta years ago, and I was hoping they would make their way up to Maryland some day. Little did I know this chain actually was started in New Jersey (okay, I guess I kind of figured that out), or that it would grow rapidly to now be found in airports and all over the East Coast. The closest one to my office is about a 15 minute drive each way (less if traffic is decent), and it's rapidly becoming a weekly favorite among our lunch crew here. Why? Simple: because the food is so gosh-darn good. Their roast beef (cooked in house, I hear) is nothing short of delectable. It's made to a perfect medium-rare to medium (nicely red/pink throughout), and it has a pleasant seasoning to it. The other meats are pre-packaged standard deli selections (i.e. squared ham, giant ball o' turkey), but they are sliced fresh right in front of you and per order. Otherwise, they are kept in the chill chest. I really appreciate that. I know it's just about as fresh as deli meats can get. The bread has to be made in house, or if not, then somewhere local. It's always very fresh. I haven't had one of their hot subs yet, but they seem to always have one on the grill, so I'm guessing they are pretty popular, too. A few months back, I would have definitely complained about the joint, as it was far from clean, not very fast, and only marginally friendly. I would say 3.5 out of 5 if I could They make some pretty good lunch subs compared to anyone else from this area that I go to for lunch during work. I'm from new jersey and this somewhat or kind of close to a "jersey style sub" you'd get at a mom and pop like Tastee Subs. Their staff is very friendly and they also have fun while they are handling lunch rush. The one thing that I would have to knock off a star is that if you get takeout it can get pretty soggy because they really go OD on the oil and vinegar unless you tell them other wise I think the bread is pretty decent and the turkey tastes good. Jersey Mike's has really gone downhill. Their subs still taste good -- closest to New Jersey I could find -- but they have gotten worse in the last year or so. You have to pay extra (about $3) for 'extra' meat that used to be standard. And they are outrageously expensive! With GrubHub fees and tip, I paid $51 for a giant #13 with 'extra meat' and a regular #7 with bacon. The #7 was especially bad. It had very little turkey, cheese and bacon (two paltry slices of each) but was filled to overflowing with lettuce. My wife was extremely disappointed and so was I. Food and service is pretty good, but please clean your soda machine once in a while. The ice dispenser nozzle is covered in black mold. This is not only nasty, it could and probably has made someone very sick. A restaurant can have the best food and service around, but if it's not clean I certainly won't go back. I have been going to this Jersey Mike's for a year now and honestly have loved it. Great service, always delicious food...until last weekend. I had posted a review on Monday, but it either didn't go through or got removed. Last weekend we ordered the Italian sub and the grilled chicken Cesar wrap. When we got home, the bread on the sub was hard as rock, and stale. It had to be thrown out. I was so hungry that I dove right into eating the wrap and realized it seemed "off". I took another bite or two and couldn't finish the rest. It smelled and tasted rotten and I don't know how I managed even a few bites of it. I ended up getting food poisoning from it and was quite sick. I don't know what was bad on the wrap - whether it was the chicken, lettuce, or dressing, but I'd hate to think how bad it would have been if I'd eaten the entire thing. Very disappointed and upset about that order. Even though it was the first time we've had an issue there, I will not be going back. Food poisoning is definitely enough to keep me away. read more

We just recently discovered this amazing establishment. I am not even stretching the truth when I say this is one of the BEST Italian cold cut subs I have ever had. I am a cold cut enthusiast so... It's not even the food that keeps me coming back (well a little bit the food), but the people that work here! They are always in a good mood, always ask you how you are doing. I've seen a lot of reviews about how the sub gets soggy if you get it Mikes Way-- listen, all you have to do is ask for LIGHT DRIZZLE. I personally tell them to load it up and my sub is never soggy. Luv me some Jersey Mike's. I guess this location has been here around 3 years. I didn't know. I just found out about three weeks ago and have already been six times. The first time I ordered (and ate) two subs, I was that excited. (Used to eat at another location in another city and it had been a while.) With the help of the ICC I am able to pop over to this outer Laurel location with relative ease. Thank goodness! I recommend the steak sub. So reeeally good. And not that Philly style I don't like, with the chopped up meat (bleh). This is just slices of steak with peppers and onions. And the peppers they use are sweet reds, not bitter greens, so all the better. They also make their own roast beef, which is delicious. And their own bread. This is one of the few places I will order a sub on white and not feel guilty about it. Beware though: When they say "Mike's way" they mean drenched in oil and vinegar so your sub will be WET. If you don't like or want that let them know. This is definitely the best chain sub place and the best sub place overall in the DMV. Inside it's a neat, tidy sub shop resembling a dine-in Subway. The staff are friendly and when I asked for their most popular sub the answer I got was, "the #13 Italian Cold Cut." Being a first timer, I had to try it and got it "Mike's Way" which is oil and vinegar with the normal toppings. That's usually what I put on my cold cuts. Paid $8 for a mini sub and a drink. Pricey, yeah? The following is why I took off two stars. First bite impressions: the bread was tough, and even though the sub was practically soaked in oil and vinegar, I still found myself reaching for my drink because it was a bit dry. The cold cut meats, although good, were overpowered by the bread. The lettuce and tomato toppings didn't taste very fresh... But I will admit that I'm a narc when it comes to fresh vegetables. It's still good, but it will never be Philly good... for that, I'd recommend doing the 90 minute drive up to Tony Luke's. This was my second and last visit to this location. They are always rude, as if you have disturbed them or they rush you through your order only to get it wrong. It's like that is the last place they want to be. If you don't like your job get a different one! There is a total lack of customer service and listening skills with most if not all members of this staff. Let me get right down to business and tell you why this place is good. The bread is good and fresh. Soft, not toasted or tough like chiabatta or any of that crap that has no business on a hoagie. The meats are SLICED fresh right in front of you when you order. It's not filed away in a stack of unidentifiable meats. They have the meats a real hoagie shop should have. The ones you need to spell check when you type them - that's why I'm not going to embarrass myself by trying to name drop them. Just know that it's more than just turkey, ham and bologna. If there was room for improvement, I would say for them to use iceberg lettuce instead of romaine or whatever they're using. Other than that, this place does it right. Ever since official Blimpie shops closed down in MD, it's tough to find a good chain to find a respectable hoagie sub. Sure, you may find one that's "better" or whatever.. that's all opinion anyways. Friendly, funny, interesting staff that most certainly cares for the customers and the quality of their food. One employee who made my friend's sandwich asked while we were eating if the sandwich (chicken parm) was made ok, which reflects the pride she took in her work. If a customer informs you it is not working and you said someone is fixing it, why not come back and tell the customer that it is fixed. Instead I had to ask. I tired the machine, still clear, so I said it is not working. The employee walks over and rudely states that you have to hold the button. I do not work there, so how would I have know that. After all that, the root beer still tasted nasty and NOT like root beer. Furthermore, it is very rude to carry on a conversation in Spanish in front of your non-speaking co-workers. Easily the best subs available in Maryland. I eat at this location at least once a week for lunch and receive a great and tasty sub every time. The staff is extremely friendly and I've never had any issues with my order. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is that it often takes more than 15 minutes to get through the line during the lunch rush. I think if they had more counter space, utilized the second register and hired a few extra employees, this process could be faster. Though, you can order online and rush to the front of the line! Today the new Hispanic female manager was rude and disrespectful. Role the tape for Aug 2, and you will see and hear who was disrespectful. She also gaslighted me suggesting I did not have the money to pay when all I was doing was asking about the price of gluten free bread! I would say maybe she had bad day, but what she did to me; I witnessed her disrespectful tone with a black male customer last fall. This place use to a very friendly place for regulars. I have been coming here for 8 yrs and have never see anything like this until now! Also, it's kind strange that since she has been the manager the staff has been 98% Hispanic/Latino. I have not seen many black males or white males working there since she took over. I think this should be investigated because since when did young black and white folks not want to work there? Pretty good subs for fast food. Bread is somewhat fresh, if you get there too early they use yesterday's old stuff. Regardless I have ordered several types & sizes of subs & they are all good. The subs are good and kind of addicting. the prices are a little steep for what you get. They have super fresh toppings and the cold subs are much better than subway. I always feel like the staff is forced to be friendly to me, its not natural. That kind of takes away from it since they try and make you talk when sometimes all you want is your food. The hot subs are good but there isn't enough meat and its kind of slow. Super disappointed on my last visit. I placed a phone order about two weeks ago for myself and my coworkers. I picked up my food and when I got to the office the sandwiches were super soggy. Either there was too much dressing or the bread wasn't good. The sandwich felt apart and wasn't edible. I called and let them know and was told to come back and my next order would be on them. I did just that and placed a work lunch order, whoever attended the phone told me I wouldn't be charged for my 4 sandwiches but ended up being charged for one. I didn't feel like disputing it as the line was long. I made the mistake to not check the food and when I got to the office the order was wrong so I had to go back. I went to Jersey Mike's for the first time the other day and ordered a Jersey Mikes Philly Cheesteak which was very good considering that its in Laurel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I love the staff it's not easy to find nice employees especially in Laurel. I went there again today and got a Turkey sandwich and my friend got the Club Supreme we inhaled it very quickly.
