I've had more poppyseeds accidentally stuck in my teeth after walking past a bakery. So I went back inside and politely asked if they could give me one with more seeds. They took my bagel to the back, disappeared for a minute, and returned with what I am 99% certain was the exact same bagel. Maybe seed #11 was added. Hard to say. I didn't bring forensic equipment. Now I need to know what's happening at Poppyseed Bagels. Are the poppyseeds individually imported by private jet? Is there a seed embargo? Does the manager keep the poppyseeds in a locked briefcase handcuffed to his wrist? Is each employee issued 47 seeds at the beginning of their shift and required to account for every single one at closing? Because the name of the establishment is POPPYSEED BAGELS. Not Poppyseed-Inspired Bagels. Not Bagels With a Light Dusting of Poppyseed. Not The General Idea of Poppyseed. At some point, the poppyseeds need to enter the equation. And when a customer comes back asking for more, taking the bagel into the back for a little seed theater and returning the same bald bagel is diabolical. I'm not asking you to refinance the building.
