Fast-food worker, Benjamin, at Jersey Mike's Subs in Montebello gave me EXCELLENT customer service tonight when I stopped by to order two roast beef and provolone cheese cold subs. He listened intently to my special request when I made my order. The sandwiches were beautifully made with lean roast beef and fresh ingredients that hit the right spot for a late night dinner. This sandwich is one of my favorites on their menu. To top off my meal, I odered the Stubborn Black Cherry soda pop, which was deliightful. The first time I had Jersey Mike's was one of the best sub sandwiches I've eaten and now I eat there every chance that I get when my son introduced me to Jersey Mike's he said once you eat Jersey Mike's mom you're never gonna go back to Subway and I haven't been back to Subway. When the owner takes the time to greet you and make sure that your sandwich is exactly how you asked for that tells you a lot it tells you that he has pride and he works hard to keep his business open when I told the owner that I was allergic to pork he made sure that when they made my sandwich their hands were washed and none of the utensils touched any pork. They make sure that the knives haven't touched any pork products and my sandwiches are always delicious the stars only go up to five but I gave them 100 plus because they really go out of their way thank you Jersey Mike's for i attending to me and to my family and making sure that our food is beyond delicious. This location does not weigh the subs and put a minimal amount of meat. I ended up paying extra for what would have been a normal sub at other locations! I was in a rush and didn't have time to argue. I asked 2 girls if they didn't weigh the subs and both gave me a confused look! I love Jersey Mike's and this won't stop me from eating it but definitely will not be returning to this location. I decided to give this place another try since the last time they completely messed up my order because the first 2 times I went it was great. Big mistake. Waste of $9 and my time. The last time I came I asked for a grilled veggie on Italian regular. I got a WHEAT TORTILLA. My boyfriend saw him making it as a wrap when he was almost done but we didn't want to make him redo it and waste the wrap. Mistake. Wasn't good, the veggies weren't really grilled it was pretty tasteless. Luckily I had some honey mustard at home so it was palatable. So weird since the first 2 times I got the it in the spinach wrap it was delicious and I craved it. Tonight I went and asked for it as a spinach wrap with extra veggies. I got pretty much all onions and a minute amount of green onion. Also, barely grilled. No flavor, no ranch, it was gross. The worker (don't want to say who because I'm not writing this to get anyone in trouble) looked like they didn't want to be there so I assume they rushed it. I was picking onion skin out as I forced it down my throat since I didn't want to waste the $9 I should've spent somewhere else. So Gross. I can't imagine I'll go back and try a 3rd time, pretty annoyed that I wasted $20 and should've learned my lesson the first time. I'll start off by saying the sandwiches aren't all that bad. They are more expensive than Subway and for the price I would rather go to Frumentos. Here's where it gets one star, I walked up to the counter and saw a couple of flies flying around. Okay I understand it happens, flies are a pain in the ass and make there way everywhere. One happened to land on the slicer, so I mentioned if to the employee who was about to make my sandwich. He shoos the fly and starts to make my sandwich. Finally came to check this place out last night. The location is cool down the street from the theater. The place was clean from the inside and me and my wife were greeted as soon as we walked in. We checked out the menu and my wife went with the chicken bacon ranch and I went with the buffalo chicken. The wait time was about 5 minutes maybe less to receive our subs. They looked really good when we opened them, so I was pretty excited to try it out. Taking the first bite my sub was overpowered with the franks red hot sauce which is fine but it made the bread soggy really quick. My wife said her sub did not have any flavor so I took a bite and it was pretty plain I expected a crunch from the bacon but I didn't get that. The sub felt like it was all chicken and drenched in ranch. Overall the place is too much hype. Damage was 25 bucks for 2 regular subs and 2 drinks. read more

Montebello is a strange place to open a restaurant. Anytime a chain restaurant opens in this town, no matter how commercial or cheesy, people go hog wild for it. Anaheim has Disney, Valencia has Magic Mountain, and Montebello's next big thing is Jersey Mike's, conveniently located in the Montebello Mart on the corner of Montebello and Beverly Boulevards. The Jersey Mike concept irritates me. The eatery attempts to clone an acceptable copy of the many outstanding delicatessens that make quality sandwiches back east in New York, and New Jersey. Inside the restaurant however, Jersey Mike's has a sterile, institutionalized look about it. Every Jersey Mike's has the same cookie cutter decor, right down to large maps of the Garden State posted on every dining room's wall. I have personally visited the Montebello Jersey Mike's twice. Both times, the line of customers exceeded ten people, and there were only two employees. One to make the food, and the other to ring it up on the register. On each occasion, I waited at least 20 minutes to order, and pay for my meal. In today's busy world with all the competition out there, 20 minutes or more is completely unacceptable. If I return to a similar situation again, I will not come back to Jersey Mike's, this location at least. Also, the prices are way too high. I ordered two regular sandwich combos on my last visit and wound up paying $27.99 for two sandwiches, two chips, two regular beverages, and two Tastykake pastries. Granted, this total includes taxes and tip, but still, this meal was WAY too expensive. Also, if you pay with a credit card, the card screen asks if you want to add a 15 18 or 20 percent tip! Why should anyone pay a tip this high for zero table service? Next time, I will tip in cash and hit No Thanks on the screen. The sandwiches were delicious, very savory. I had a regular prosciutto and cappicola sandwich made "Mike's Way." Great sandwiches, but worth $27.99? No way. Lower the prices, and hire more associates, and I will return to Jersey Mike's again someday. read more
