He constantly interrupted me; did not want to hear my complaint and abruptly hung up. Jersey Mike's, my all time favorite sun shop, fell "short" this time around. My go to sandwich there is a giant Original Italian sub. The meat is fresh and tasty, the variety of toppings is great. Yes, it's a bit expensive but they make up for it by the size of the sub. Until now. The old Giant was at least a foot long and was cut into four pieces, making it easier to eat. My most recent order had a surprise in store for me. Instead of the large, 12 inch sun, I was served an 8 inch sub, cut into three pieces rather than four, and at the same price point. I picked up an order for my workplace, they charged for the cookies, but the were out. No problem....except that they refused a refund and offered me brownies instead. Well, I took two brownies, since two people ordered cookies. I was stopped and told that I could not have two brownies because they are more expensive than cookies. Two people ordered cookies. It would make sense to get a refund or get two brownies. Nope. Then my boss found hair in her sub. The guy told her that the best he could do is give her a free sub and that she would have to come up there in order to get the coupon for the free sub. He was rude and condescending AND had the card number for the order in store, but still refused a refund because it is not "company policy." Two and a half stars for the food, zero for the cleanliness of this place, and if I could give negative stars for the service, I would. First, the whole "tip me" bullshit with Jersey Mike's is ridiculous. I don't tip at McDonalds, I'm not tipping at Jersey Mike's. I consistently tip up to 30% in restaurants, and you really have to do something obnoxious to get less than 20% from me (ask either of the waitresses who served me this weekend alone). Plus, the tomatoes were mushy and drowning in some sort of liquid (tomato water??). I was in there this weekend, and when asked to "Answer the questions on the screen first," meaning "Please tip me" I clicked "No tip." Not only did the guy making my sandwich WAIT to see if I was going to tip before he started making it, the girl at the register didn't even say thank you after handing me my receipt. She just left. At least the guy who made my sandwich said thanks and have a nice day. If JM knew what was good for his business, he'd just pay his people a couple more bucks an hour and get rid of that tip screen that is one step up from begging. It's sad, because I'm sure that's a selling point for trying to get people to work there. Of all the sub places in the world , we just happened to walk in the very best one in Richmond Va. Some years ago when we moved to the Bon Air area of Richmond, we found with pleasure that this Jersey Mike's Sub Shop opened in our neighborhood. I'm a big sub sandwich fan and this shop is by far my favorite. The ambience is welcoming and fun ! Although it's a tiny shop , past the counter area ,there is a step up to a small quiet dining area and a cozy outdoor dining place. These areas are delightful but there are only a few tables in each section . This seems to work because so many of the customers get their subs to go . The shop almost always has a line of customers waiting to tell the smiling servers what they want and how how they want their sub salad or flatbread prepared There are so many choices of meats and cheeses and all kinds of extras that make your choice uniquely your own .Everything I've tried has been excellent .My favorite is the subway club , my husband prefers the hot meatball sub and my daughter frequently chooses the tuna fish sub . The staff are friendly helpful and quick while generously piling on the items of your choice . I strongly recommend this little shop located in a strip mall in Bon Air .Check it out ! read more

This is definitely the place to come if you like to gamble with your order and receive a large helping of attitude from the staff in a tiny somewhat grubby storefront. Today, my order was right (woo hoo!) although it took about 15 minutes to get. During that time I observed 3 wrong orders with replies from the staff such as "No, that's not what you told me", "Look at the receipt" and my favorite, "Whatever" when a customer apologized for her wrong order. The staff never fail to amaze customers with their utter lack of customer service. Slow, attitude, and lacking sufficient knowledge of the English language and listening skills. Considering myself a connoisseur of subs, my go-to has always been the Italian...with that being said, Jersey Mike's sells the real deal. The selection of authentic Italian meats (Provolone, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami and pepperoni) are mouth-watering and the smell of the fresh cold cuts greet you at the door. They may seem a bit pricey compared to other places, but the subs are huge and delicious. My husband and I normally share one and often it is two meals for each of us when cut into fourths. Although it is a chain, they consistently produce excellent sandwiches on fresh baked bread, hand-carved deli meats that they freshly carve right in front in you, and you have to go with Mike's Juice. The "juice" consists of red wine vinegar, olive oil, spices, and salt. This is one delicious sandwich and I keep coming back for lunch again and again. read more

I have lived in the Bon Air area for 4 years and my Realtor brought me here while looking at houses. The food is great. Can I deal with the service? No. I have been here a couple times since moving here and its been a negative experience every time. Either the line moves like a turtle on Quaaludes, an order is made wrong, or I am incorrectly charged. Sometimes you will get the bonus plan and get all three. Also don't bring your small kids. The place is incredibly small and lacking seating. Parking is a PITA. They have not once had kids straws in the 4 years I have been there. Oddly, almost every time the soda machine has been lacking syrup or CO2. My last visit the individual did not the know difference between deli mustard and honey mustard. After waiting 10 minutes in line and having my 3 yr old with me, I was not in the mood to have it remade. To top it off, this person could not charge me correctly and charged me with two children's meals but receiving only one. After several days the refund still has not been processed. Overall, I have never seen a more poorly managed business. I am surprised they've been in business this long. If the quality of the food goes, it most certainly will. I might go to another Jersey Mike's, but definitely not this one. read more

Usually they do a pretty good job, but I called in today for a chicken wrap to go. The girl interrupted me and asked me if I wanted a chicken philly on a wrap; I said I guess so? And then asked for Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, oil, vinegar. I picked up the sandwich, got back to work.... the wrap was literally just a wrap, steak, and cheese.
