Well I wasn't impressed. The inside was closed so I had to go through the drive thru even though the business hours say they closed at 6 and it was 5:30. It did look very clean inside from what I could see. The staff didn't even smile at the window just told me the price and sent me on my way. I got the steak and cheese and a turkey sub. Both were flavorless and the steak was so chopped up I thought it was brown rice. I'm really disappointed here. I was hoping to find a good sub shop.

Mr. Submarine blows the competition out of the water! These subs are "under"rated and need to float to the top of your list! This place has been around for decades, and I must admit, I tend to bypass Mr. Submarine because it's like a fixture on Broad street! But, the other day, my bro and I started craving a sub when we drove by, but it was a Sunday and they were closed! So the next day, my bro surprised me with a sub he had ordered from the drive thru! Wow! This was a huge Italian Cold cut sub, with double meat, and a tangy dressing! The hoagie roll was soft and fresh and didn't overpower the fixings!! Plenty of tomato, lettuce, cheese, and just enough onion to make this sandwich a winner! My next selection on the menu will be the Philly Cheese steak!! Inside the restaurant, there are places to sit, and there are a couple tables outside too! The food came out super fast, in minutes, and the price was right! Take a break from those other chain sub shops, and treat yourself to one of these yummy "grinders"! They are sub-perb!!!

I only drove by this place 500 times before deciding to check it out. While the facade is inconspicuous, their reputation is strong. I kept hearing about them online, so finally last week I joined the drive-thru line. I ordered the Italian and the steak and cheese, both of which without tomatoes. Service was prompt and friendly, and the hoagies, erm, "subs," were in perfect condition upon arriving home five minutes later. I figured I'd eat one half per meal, to have enough for two days. That did not happen. The steak and cheese was inhaled -- truly one of the best cheesesteaks I've had since moving down from the Philly area five years ago -- and the Italian was tasty, too. That one could've done with a tad more meat, but I still enjoyed it. They have limited hours, or else I already would've returned by now. It's definitely a severe craving, so I'm sure round two is coming soon. Glad to finally be acquainted with this classic spot!

It is now fair to say that I've become a regular at Mr. Submarine on West Broad. Huge and delicious subs made to order. Drive thru only but I don't think this is the type of place I would dine in. Even though the line of cars during lunchtime is long, the line moves fast and the lady that takes the orders is friendly and accurate. It's like a well-oiled machine over there. I think for the size of the subs you get, coupled with the quality of ingredients, it's an excellent deal. My subs usually I can make into two meals. And their gyros are delicious and stuffed to the max with meat. All of their subs are. Cannot really go wrong with whatever you get here. Super yummy and highly recommended!

As such, it doesn't exactly feel great to be downgrading my review, but my previous sentiments aren't necessarily accurate anymore. My visits have dropped off in recent months, and it seems like the restaurant itself is dropping off, too, if you just read some of their latest reviews or stop in. I know they had a shift in their ownership, and it appears to be reflecting poorly on the restaurant. I'm not a big craft beer drinker anymore, but it turns out that doesn't matter, as Crafted is no longer a craft beer spot (see the picture I posted today for their offerings). I used to looooove traipsing over there to try their rotating draft list with some top-tier brands on it. This past weekend, I had a beer-loving friend in town from another state, so we stopped in on Thursday night. The bar area was pretty empty around 7 pm. I was embarrassed that I wasted his time, as they just serve domestics and the most basic of local pours these days. When I talked to the bartender about it, he seemed fairly nonchalant and informed me that Crafted can mean more than beer, such as craft food and craft cocktails. So let's talk about the craft cocktail I ordered. I selected the espresso martini. I love a good espresso martini. Crafted managed to serve me the worst one I genuinely think I've ever consumed. It was weirdly frigid, crunchy, and looked like it was curdling upon arrival. I don't know how they managed it, but I would highly recommend not ordering one of those. I've ordered quite a bit from their food menu over the years. I didn't order any food on our latest trip to see if it fits the "craft" label, but I've been within the past few months for dinner and it was just okay. Nothing extraordinary. I know they're impacted by inflation so I won't comment on the drastic price increases I've seen beyond saying they have been pretty steep jumps for decreasing quality. At this point in time, unless they have a major revamp, I don't see a reason to return. I'd rather spend my money on an experience I know is going to be better and my money will be appreciated, such as at my other neighbors, Acacia and Shagbark.

I highly recommend starting with the drinks -- the menu has a wide variety of creative options, but…read moreeven the well drinks were solid. Great bar all around. As for the food, the crab dip has more of a soup-like consistency, so if you're expecting something thick and hearty, it might not be for you. The chips and queso were pretty basic -- not bad, but nothing memorable. On my first visit, I ordered the beef and cheddar, but the beef was really dry, and I wouldn't recommend it. On a return visit, I got the club wrap with onion rings, and it was much better -- flavorful, fresh, and well put together. Service has been consistently attentive and welcoming, which always makes a difference. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

Only street parking is available, but it wasn't too difficult to find a spot. The atmosphere: Very rustic vibe with some farmhouse-style decor. They have table, high-top, bar, and patio seating available. The food: I opted for the Chicken and Waffles with a side of cheese grits. I chose to make it hot for more spice. It's served with one whole waffle, two large pieces of fried chicken, and syrup on the side. The chicken was not seasoned as much as I hoped and wasn't as spicy as I expected, which was a bummer. The cheese grits were alright as well, but not as flavorful as I hoped. My partner ordered the Double Barrel Bowl, and he really enjoyed it. It was packed with pulled pork and was plentiful and filling. The service: Great and kind service from Mave (I believe that is her name but I'm not entirely sure). She informed us about the daily specials and was attentive throughout our visit.

If they aren't part of the decor, it was a treat nonetheless. We stepped inside from the rain with a parking spot very near the door. I snapped a pic on the way in to capture it's essence. We risked another walk-in with no reservations, and we snagged two prime end seats on the communal table. There were two open seats at the bar as well; might come in handy some other rainy Thursday night. The server, Murphy M., judging by the receipt, who helped my partner and I with our order, was a gracious host and incredibly well-practiced. It was a master class in serving, made effortless by him. He could not have been more accommodating, as we saw him appear inevitably at the exact right moments. Our server offered us bread and oil before the appetizer. The bread here is made fresh daily. It was so soft, I could not tell the difference from store bought. The food was exquisitely well prepared, the chefs and kitchen staff are immensely skilled. The appetizer was presented to us within a relatively short amount of time. We had time for a short discussion before the it arrived. The Tiropita was described as "four pieces of heaven." Accurate. The phyllo was thin and crisp, and the feta was creamy and delicious. I was careful not to bite too hard and ruin my pants. I had the Kotopoulo, which is a feta-brined oven-baked chicken with lemon and herbs served with lemon potatoes. The dish was cooked to perfection. The cooked potatoes were exactly as I like them, soft yet held their shape. It was an excellent meal, if a bit unwieldy (it's like half a rotisserie chicken, basically). My partner had the Hilopites, an egg noodle dish with giant beans, pine nuts, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and feta, in a creamy, savory sauce that I couldn't begin to describe with mere words. The meals were both stunning, made unclear by my disastrous photography. All that being said, I did not really enjoy my meal as I was expecting. Maybe it's me, maybe it's today, or maybe the flavors simply weren't what I am accustomed to with the dozens of Greek restaurants from my past. I'm uncertain, and that's okay sometimes. Either way, it was a fantastic experience, and I will dine here again.
