My family just ate here for a birthday and we were all pleased with the service and quality of food that was served. Let's talk about the food first. Now if you're ordering a steak, my rule is always to order a step down from how well you want it cooked. I prefer medium rare because anything past that is a crime, but I will almost always order a steak rare knowing it will be cooked past that and more on the medium rare side. That said, my steak was perfect. You want medium? Tell them medium rare. Medium well? Medium. Well done? Go to a shoe store and get yourself a leather shoe and get some help. Now, the server. We had Dowdy. He was attentive, quick, personable, and great at keeping up with our large group. We could tell he enjoys his job and we would definitely ask for him if and when we come back.

My friend ordered the blue crab benny which came with home fries. Her potatoes were cold and she also ate less than half her food because she said she didn't like it. I will accept blame for not realizing J Wilson doesn't serve lunch on weekends, but the quality of the food is on them. Restaurant Manager Alex Tuckwin and Chef Ty Armstrong created a personal, unforgettable evening. Each course was beautifully prepared, each wine pairing thoughtfully chosen. The flavors, the setting, the kindness-all exceptional. I didn't know my taste buds could be so astounded! We felt welcomed, relaxed, and truly cared for. It was a five star experience in the heart of a college town. A hidden gem we'll remember for a long time.
